Jamie Gittens joins Chelsea

Featured Replies

From what I can see he’s currently just a sh*t Madueke, and Noni is f**king sh*t as it is.

Pointless waste of money that adds nothing to the side and doesn’t take us to the next level.

Got to admit 'Jamie Jermaine Bynoe-Gittens' sounds very respectable. All he's lacking is a 'Sir' at the beginning

I'm not going to lie, any name with Jermaine in it sounds sh*t to me.

Can only hope it's a negotiating ploy to force down other club's demands (or wage demands from Sancho?). But... that's probably wishful thinking. The sporting directors love an ex Man City academy player.

The stockpiling of players doesn't help come August when everyone knows we need to sell.

I've never seen him play, but he got 8 goals for Dortmund in 32 appearances, which seems pretty decent for a winger. However, we have to consider this was in the Bundesliga, and we've a history of signing players from the Bundesliga and them not getting anywhere near to reproducing their numbers over here. Hopefully our scouts have based their interest on more than just a quick glance at his Wikipedia page.

Apparently since January Dortmund have gone back to playing a system that doesn't have any wingers in it, so hence they no longer need him ... in theory that is good news for the potential buyer in terms of their negotiating position. Over to our lot of skilled negotiators : " £50m you ask ? ... no no no ... we'd like to offer £70m plus bonuses, and we're prepared to sweeten the deal by throwing in Carney Chukwuemeka !!"

I'm not confident about this one at all. Gittens is built for the less physical Bundesliga, and even then, he's not THAT good. He will struggle in the Premier League.

To be honest, I'm exhausted when it comes to our transfer strategy. I just don't ever see how it pays off. Constantly buying players that aren't ready yet, then realising they're never going to make it to that level and replacing them with the same problem whilst our rivals strengthen and make their teams better right now and for the future. It just means we are always playing catch up.

Personally, in a league such as Bundesliga, that doesn't scream out impressive for me. It is not bad but remember Bundesliga play less games also as well. I am not sure how many of those were starts but still, numbers don't stand out.

I think our ownership/management are even more invested in the idea of buying young players now that we've qualified for the CL and won a trophy. They probably see it as a proof of their strategy working.

So it's probably going to be Delap, Gittens and Ekitike. Delap at least I could undestand, that's a good value for money in today's market and a low risk/high reward type of a deal. Plus, having Delap and Jackson as our striking options is significantly better than having just Jackson.

Spending a fortune on Gittens and Ekitike is puzzling. As I understand, neither is a finished article. The only reason I'd be OK with spending this kind of money, is if someone legit, like Rodrygo, becomes available. Or even pay the 60m release fee for Gyokeres and sort out our attack for years to come. But that would make too much sense, so I'm expecting another summer of spending a sh*tload on "youngsters with great future".

If it doesn’t work out, we will reach a point where the owners will accept that we will need to try something different.

Although with this strategy, you can’t deny that the future looks really exciting. Right now, we are abit meh but how good would we look in 5 years time when the majority of our first teamers will be in their prime and we’ll be stacked with really good players who aren’t far off.

But I don’t want to wait five years to start competing for premier league and i reckon alot of you feel the same. Why can’t we nurture the young players with really good players such as Gyokeres, Nico Williams, Rodrygo?

Surely we can compete and grow the young players at the same time?

Look at the players age in 5 years time

Cole Palmer - 28

Estevao - 23

Enzo - 29

Caicedo - 28

Lavia - 26

Madueke - 28

Acheampong - 24

Paez - 23

Colwill - 27

Delap - 27

Gittens - 25

Essugo - 25

George - 24

That's the thing though. If we're not competing soon by injecting some quality now (or at latest next season), in 5 years time these same players will surely want to be competing at other clubs.

Yeah that’s a fair point. I think we’d keep most of these players but the absolute top tier like Palmer and Estevao, probably not.

Why aren’t we pushing for Mbeumo? He would make so much sense, he can play on the wing or striker. Annoying it’s looking like he’s going to Man Utd

Those donkeys are signing Cunha and Mbeumo , both of which would improve us.

We signed Delap and possibly this Gittens bloke, who would in all likelyhood not improve United.

Everything is based on potential. We're in the champions league again, we need players ready for it.

All this noise about needing a winger to replace Mudryk when we already have George.

We need a winger that moves the needle.

That was Kvara when he was looking for a way out of Napoli.

Watching him play football is a joy, so pissed off he's at PSG

My colleagues were all in their PSG shirts at work today too!

Spot On.

Everybody talking about the players that are going to be going out the door. Who is going to take them. Firstly we'll probably take a bath on the fees from what we paid and then, more importantly, who is going to pick up the tab for their wages. Good luck shifting the likes of Sterling.
