May 13, 20224 yr He can use both feet so he should be good cover. Saw on Twitter that it looks like we’ve also agreed a deal in principle with Kounde and it will move forward once the takeover is complete. Sounds like the club are not hesitating in making deals which is wise otherwise we will miss out.
May 13, 20224 yr I am normally not a fan of getting a 33 year old player, but he played insanely good this season and if he comes over for free.. After silva showing what he brings to the table, who am I to say no.
May 13, 20224 yr It makes zero sense to bring him here to play as a winger, so I am sure he will be joining as a backup LWB. Saul is definitely not getting signed on a permanent deal and it looks like Alonso could be leaving, so it's the only thing that makes sense. Even if he is turning 34 next season, he is quicker and his agility is on another level to Alonso's. Defensively, I am not sure how good he is, but Alonso isn't so great defensively himself.

He is coming from a suspect Seria A though. It’s a strange & worrying signing.

Ashley Young won a title with Inter Milan as a first team regular last season and he was sh*t long before moving there, and since returning to the Premier League, he's been as rubbish as he was when he left. I do think Perisic is a lot better than Ashley Young though and I can get behind this move if he is joining to be a squad player. I just hope he won't be the replacement for Alonso and Azpilicueta. If one of Chilwell or James get's injured or needs a game off, I want somebody who will fit in nicely and not hold us back.
May 13, 20224 yr A 33 yr old winger? Tbd he's played a lot so is currently fit to be a regular, but he;s probably going to last 2 more seasons. Stopgap at best.

From what I have read regarding Persisc is that he, if truly coming here, would be as LWB and RWB cover, not to be a winger.
May 13, 20224 yr Perisic will most likely be lwb cover that can also play rwb. very logical from the club to make these offers before the takeover if this is true. In fact with just these two deals we solve half our transfer issues, especially assuming Emerson could stay. Edited May 13, 20224 yr by LongtimerLurker
May 13, 20224 yr I wouldn’t be against persic. he is very versatile and will be good cover for LWB i still think we need another midfielder apart from possibly Conor coming back.
May 13, 20224 yr Perisic is still playing at a high level at 33. He’s been playing LWB the last 2 seasons. He’s been superb this season for inter. Inter bought Goosens to take his job and he couldn’t. His fitness and work rate are still great though.I would not be surprised if he starts as he’s one of the best two footed players in football still. Edited May 13, 20224 yr by Kova17

May 13, 20224 yr I’ve always liked Perisic always looks threatening, hard working, never seems to down tools, and is a finisher. Question is whether it’s 5 years too late. Pretty risk free and surely can’t be worse than Saul.

It suddenly doesn't look risk free if he ends up being a backup to both James and Chilwell.

We most likely needed both a new LB and RB, at least now we only need to buy one freeing money for other positions.

Good business if we can get a joint 15-20mill out of Barca for Dave and Alonso and replace them with Sterling and Perisic as freebies.
May 14, 20224 yr Hearing that Kounde and Perisic are verbally agreed, as soon as new ownership is solved which many believe is a mere formality deals will be announced. Kounde wants to leave and still sees Chelsea as his preference and supposedly nothing has changed regarding the figures, his salary is set and just dependant on Sevilla accepting €60m with add ons. Perisic to Chelsea pretty much done, Inter only want to sign him to another contract to sell him and make a profit, his agent therefore pulled out of talks and now he's set to sign for us once our restrictions are lifted. Can't 100% guarantee this is true but the sources seem reliable enough 🤞🏿 think its happening guys!

Salah, of course. For us, Alonso has done quite well overall. There’s numerous more. No matter what league the player comes from, there’s always people saying “yeah it’s a worry signing a player from that league.” Well, they’ve got to come from somewhere.
