The Cech and Courtois thing has nothing to do with us fans, that is a decision made by Mourinho. Us fans shouldn't have to pay for that by seeing one of our greatest ever players join those lot.

Huh? I'm sure you'll be quite happy to celebrate any trophy that we win with Courtois in goal so you have to understand these things have ramifications. We chose to bench Cech because we thought we'd have more success in the long-term with Courtois. You surely don't have the nerve to then begrudge the guy we rejected a career after that do you? Do you, and I mean do you seriously have the nerve to think that?

If players had any love for the fans that have supported them over the years i don't understand why they would want to hurt them by playing for one of their direct rivals or clubs that they hate.

In Cech's defence he probably thinks that most of the supporters would thank him for his service and wish him well because we're a decent bunch. Do you want to tell him or should I?

Just imagine if Terry came out and said he wanted to join Arsenal, this to me is almost as bad.

JT flirted with a move to City until we gave him a pay rise. Football is a business, footballers are human beings. I'm not entirely sure what imaginary world they think football exists in now or even existed in the past, but it's fantasy nonetheless.

Playing for the same club for over 10 years and winning every trophy is pretty loyal, no?

But he's sat on the bench for how long?! Schwarzer could have moved for more playing time, but he's decided to sign a year extension knowing that he's behind cech and courtois, and will likely never get a chance to play, yet he's never mentioned moving. I can see where cech is coming from, but courtois has been here 5 minutes and now all of a sudden cech wants to move having sat on the bench for not even 4 months.

Schwarzer and Cech are in completely different positions and you must surely know that so why even bother to bring that up?

Cech is too good to sit on the bench. He's a competitor, something we've benefitted greatly from over the last decade so it seems incredibly rich to then criticise that same drive when he wants to leave.

Are you seriously saying you expect one of the top five keepers in the world to be happy sitting on the bench? Are you also seriously saying we should be spending £5 million p/a on a reserve keeper?

Comparing a 41 year old Mark Schwarzer who is on the brink of retirement to a 32 year Petr Cech who is still considered one of the World's best goalkeepers is rather lop sided argument.

Schwarzer signed for the club knowing he was a reserve goalkeeper whereas Cech has lost his place in the side.

After 10 years at the club and going on for 500 appearances are we really going to accuse him of not being loyal?

If Mourinho has made Courtois is first choice goalkeeper then barring an injury Cech, a supremely talented player is rightly not going to be content with limited playing time.... He's too good not to be playing.

Terry never flirted with City at all, that was just the papers making things up because Terry's contract was almost up. At no point did Terry say or even give a hint that he wanted out of Chelsea.

Back to Cech. Him wanting to leave is not the issue i have, i think he has been brilliant for us and he is a world class keeper so of course he is going to want to keep playing first team football. But if he did feel anything towards us Chelsea fans then he wouldn't join a club the fans can't stand.

Being loyal isn't just him being at the club for a long time helping us win things, he is doing that for himself more than anything else. Someone who is loyal wouldn't jump to another club who the fans can't stand.

When Ashley Cole joined us were you or anyone else saying he wasn't disloyal to Arsenal ? i bet you weren't. Everyone at the time realised that Ashley Cole had no loyalty to Arsenal by joining us. When Van Persie joined Man United many people on here were saying that he wasn't loyal, the same goes for many other players that have gone and left their clubs for their rivals. Why is it when it's a Chelsea player doing it we start making excuses for it ?

And who do you think leaked those stories to the press? Come on now, let's not be silly.

So which club should he join? Has he not earned the right to go to a team of his choosing?

Trust me mate, you're going to be in a very tiny, lonely minority of 'fans' casting aspersions on Cech's loyalty and in a few year's time you're going to feel a little silly about it.

Actions speak louder than words sometimes. There was at least a 2 week window when it was bloody intense....every media outlet was talking about it....Terry could have put all the talk to bed with one sentence, but he didnt. He was probably advised to by his agent as it would put pressure on the club to make better terms etc. Business at the end of the day, but I think it is safe to say his head turned maybe just a little bit..

But that is how Terry and club have always worked. Terry never speaks to the media and the club always seem to take a long time to sort out contracts with players. I remember how long we had to wait for Lampard to sign his 5 year deal in 2008, that seemed to go on and on, the same goes for when he had a few months left on his contract a 2 seasons ago.

The press invent things to suit their agenda all of the time, it's was exactly the same thing Terry a few seasons ago. I can't believe that people in this day still fall for it.

And agents (and players occasionally) leak stories to people in the press. They wouldn't be doing their jobs if they didn't do what they could to get the best deal for their client.

To believe otherwise is the height of naivety.

Maybe a reality check (no pun intended) tells us that having PC as reserve goalkeeper is unlikely to continue. I would have to accept him leaving but still find Arsenal hard to swallow.

I agree with everyone, inevitable, great servant, shown all the loyalty required, has the right to do what he wants etc etc etc.

Still sucks though.

People complain about a lack of loyalty by Cech but the club hasn't been loyal to him. In fact, football clubs are ruthless. If you don't perform then you will be sold.

Why should players be loyal when clubs are not?

It would be strange seeing him go off to Arsenal but I wouldn't really object to it, he wants to play football and he deserves to. The only thing that annoys me about moves like that is that opposition fans will be desperate to see us moan about a legend going to a rival club like they did with Lampard, they were chomping at the bit to see one of us call him a traitor so they could paint a terrible picture of us.

Well, personally I would like to ask anyone. Is BBC an unreliable source?

No, but they were just linking to the Express, where the story originated from. It was just Paper Talk, not an official BBC story.

I saw a picture of Wenger shaking hands with a carbon cutout of Jose, I think it was on the Mirror or Sun sight...I wouldn't be surprised if that was when Arsene asked Jose if a deal was possible, as Jose didn't comment at the time, Wenger took it as a yes.

To be honest i don't care what rival fans think. There is nothing wrong with showing displeasure at seeing someone you think of as one as your greatest players to ever play for the club go and join one of your rivals.

He will obviously go, but not to another PL club please. Why must we continually help our rivals? If it's not selling players to Liverpool and Man utd, it's loaning them to Arsenal and Liverpool.. When do they ever do anything like that for us? Never. Cech still has a good 5-6 years at the top level, he's not exactly old in goalkeeper terms, selling him to a PL rival will do nothing but strengthen them. And the £7m being quoted is a joke.

A move like this has been inevitable ever since Courtois was brought back. Cech is far too good to be #2 here, and is young enough that he's unlikely to settle for that. There are also only a limited number of clubs that can afford him and he'd be prepared to move to. Hence the Arsenal talk.

Could be that Cech and family want to remain in the London area and if that is the case Arsenal would be a good fit. I think his contract is only to 2016 so Chelsea as a club have little control to where he goes. Either sell soonish and make some cash back or he can stay and run down his contract and leave on a free. Can't see us getting anything like his worth which would probably be 15-20 and most likely have to settle for about half that.

If he moves, which I think he will, I do hope it's abroad as it will be difficult to watch him regularly playing for an opponent.
