Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend

It's not about shifting blame. It's just that when you start comparing our squad to other top teams you notice that those teams have several game changers. Here we have 1, Hazard.

Also if you look at City, Madrid, PSG, they all have several players that handle the build up and creative side of things. Here we only have Fabregas, Hazard.

Also when you look at the top teams there's a genuine abillity across the team to hold the ball and pass it around.

Neymar, Ronaldo, Messi all three of them could stand around doing absolutely nothing and their teams would still be pinging the ball around effortlessly

It's actually pretty weird why "scottish_mike" is complaining about Hazard not tearing the Roma defence when we were struggling to string along 3 passes.

Instead of wondering why Hazard doesn't save our ass on a consistent base we should be wondering why we need Hazard to save us all the f**king time.

Thank you for actually understanding my post and not just jumping to conclusions like many posters on here do.

We need to sign someone to help Hazard.

It's ridiculous that over the last 4/5 years, we haven't signed someone close to his calibre in an attacking position.

Shame that City are after Sanchez because he's the killer we need in an attacking position to take the brunt off Eden and help Alvaro with goalscoring.

i agree the team wasn't able to string 3 passes together or even defend for that matter.

hence why id have liked to see Eden have a go at their defence and maybe lift the team with a bit of magic. instead he looked lazy/pi**ed off and just slowed the game down and ultimately passed the ball to someone who would loose it.

2 points though.

1. when was the last time he actually made a difference in a game?

2. do you see similarities recently in his game play/attitude that mirrors the season we booted jose?

1 Euhm... about a week ago where he scored the winning goal against Bournemouth and created 7 chances (the most chances a player has created this season in the PL btw)

2 nope

Hazard's getting criticized unfairly in my opinion.  Our team didn't look good and it's easy to throw words at our best player in the team. Some tweets from sportswriters and former players, even former Chelsea players that compare him with Ronaldo, Messi, and Neymar, that his level is not with them. Of course that they're big players and top world players, but now, for example, Ronaldo is doing nothing special and Real doesn't look good either. They can't blame Ronaldo for that, they have more players that must show themselves as well. On another side, Neymar is doing great because the players around him are just on fire, Cavani, Mbappe, Veratti. He gets the service and he gets the place to score the goals, also he has players to assist them.

At the moment, we're a little bit struggling with our football, but I don't think Hazard should be the player that has to get the negativity from the internet. I think his first half against Roma was perfect, but how much time can he do all that alone? Also in the first game against Roma without Hazard, we couldn't score them 2 goals to keep it draw. He needs Morata in form and another player that will help him to run them counter attacks like he used to do last season. Pedro is struggling and Willian's form is going down, we should look for a new partner or just patience.

Well he hasn't got a hip injury this time, so no.

You're seeing things that aren't there.

1) Hazard has made a difference in plenty of games this season already. Against Nottm Forest, it may have been a Championship club, but it was his first start of the season. Against Atletico Madrid he was a constant threat going forward and got an assist for Morata's equaliser. Was our best player against Roma at the Bridge and in the away game. He also dominated against Bournemouth last weekend.

2) Not even close. His performances are far better and he's scoring and assisting goals. You're forgetting that he has just recovered from a broken ankle and played zero minutes of pre season. He's also getting very little help going forward. He's had next to no help from the wing backs because they have been pushed back so deep this season. It's basically him and Morata vs 6 defenders because of how much we have struggled going forward this season.

It's going to be tough for him if the opposition camps at the final and middle third and we can't keep our passing and possession game.

It's also hard to see the best player in the league getting kicked at and swarmed every time he has the ball.

Midfield needs to step up a notch and imo we need a new RF/RW that can draw opponents away or create and score goals as well because at the moment, Pedro isn't as productive and Willian is sh*t.

It's got to the point now where I get nervous whenever a players thread is bumped during international friendlies.

The luck we are getting at the moment, almost every player on the Chelsea roster has picked up an injury from internationals.

Marinez will f* up Belgium, he's playing his best players like his life is depending on it in those useless friendlies, and even players doubted his limited tactical ability. Comes world cup, he will be going all out attack and get murdered by smarter teams.

It's always great to see happy Hazard.

By the way, it's only me or his stomach looking a little bit bigger?

Stocking up for winter?

Yeah, seems to put on a bit but that was also the case with Frank wasn't it?

Had a conversation with my friends about next signings by top clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid having problems in their attack this season, Benzema isn't top striker anymore, Bale is getting an injured whole season, Ronaldo is getting older and until now something wrong is happening with him.

Bayern Munich are going to lose Robben and Ribery by the end of the season, it's leaving them only with Koman as their top winger. Gnarby is coming there, but not sure they will be playing at the top level with this quality in their attack.

Barcelona are surprisingly are the best team in La Liga, their attack options are great, but it seems like their manager is looking to add more quality to the squad, and his targets are attacking players. Coutinho and Griezmann.

Now, when we have a world-class player like Hazard and he is exactly the player that will suit to the teams, with the right age and form, should we already start looking for his potential replacement?

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking to keep Hazard with us until his retirement. He seems happy with us and all, but by the end of the season, he will be 27 and I'm sure that top clubs will be chasing him. Would he want the move?

Rumours that Asensio is growing tired of his playing time at Real in the papers this morning. I imagine a Hazard-Asensio swap deal will start doing the rounds shortly.

Of all the rumoured swap deals, one for Asensio isn't the worst; certainly I'd prefer that compared to the James Rodriguez rumours. However, I'd much rather Hazard stayed! He has some good history here now, as well as the opportunity to create more in the future and become a club legend, something that's getting rarer in football these days. He's also got a great relationship growing with Morata, and also Cesc.

You do wonder how he'd cope at Real, as they're very demanding of their 'Galacticos', and we've all seen how brutal they can be when they think players aren't performing. I'm not sure it's an environment Eden would thrive in, based on his personality and comments and stuff in the past.

I also wonder if there's a limit to how many Spanish players Conte would want in the squad? I seem to remember reading something about him not wanting cliques etc. in the team. We have a fair few Spaniards already, but at the moment it seems a good balance in that they have good chemistry not only with each other, but other players in the team. Personally it doesn't bother me; as long as they do the business and win us trophies, we could have the entire Spain team as far as I'm concerned! :laugh2:

I know it's generally assumed hazard will leave, but I don't think he will.

He loves it at Chelsea, he's the main man, he lives a quiet life which he likes (he won't get that at real and will have seen what Bale gets). We even signed his brother for no reason other than because hazard asked if we could and have built the team around him.

The only thing that may cause hazard to look to Spain is the lack of being hacked at every game.

It is very rare for Top players like Hazard to stay at one club for a long time. He could make a sh*t load of money from signing on deals etc + he might be bothered by criticism that could come his way for not trying a new challenge. Hope yopur are right that he is happy and will stay for a while yet but I do fear him moving on and I think PSG would be just as likely as Madrid.
