More severe minus the tied jumper around the waist. Undermines the Eastern European warlord vibe a little.

It was very painful seeing him getting destroyed like that, it started at the end of last season and hasn't seem to have gotten any better. He'd do better at CB.

Being honest he is not a great defender, not now, I'm watching him with blue tinted specs, and I can still see his defending is struggling.

 

As Chippy my mate has mentioned, the problem of his form is magnified when Cesc is playing next to him, he is a fragile sort in midfield, surely Zouma has to come in for the city game ?

mugged on Saturday all match long, yet its was dear Willian that made the decisive mistake, obviously got told

at HT to run back and help Ivan, but took it all too literally in the 50th minute

 

but every few games Ivan has that knack of putting the ball in the net when it really counts, I doubt he will

be benched even when Baba comes in and Dave is available to play RB,

Ivan failed to stop the cross on the first goal falls on the floor and then lazily gets up and raises his hand for what I don't know, while Cahill and Terry are floundering around like fish out of water.  I'm fed up talking about him in that position now....he is a very good CB and that is where he should be playing rotating with Terry and Cahill.  Terry will give it all as he does every year but my gut feeling is he will struggle this year, his body is a year older and so are his legs, switching the four central defenders (Cahill, Terry, Zouma and Ivan) up only makes sense this year.

It's fair to blame Willian to play Gomis onside for the second goal, but he shouldn't have been there covering for Ivanoic. Wasn't really slaughtered, but he was at fault for 2 goals. 

I think he needs some serious competition to get his head right. Reeks of complacency to me.

Would like to see Azpi used more often at RB... but I wouldn't go as far to say Ivan is finished... i'd fancy Ivan to do a job at the back post when it matters for example.

He seems heavy footed of late, but not the only one.

Tired of watching him hit crosses against the first defender. Apparently he did it 6 times today..

I love the guy, he's been nothing but a warrior for us and served us well but it's not just him, everyone has been sh*t. Terry, hazard, costa etc. they've all been crap.

we f**king said this days before the game today, yet he was still played. I give up with jose at times, this is his fault, and now he's made him vice captain we won't get a rest from him. 

He's horrendous when he has to play like a defending RB.

He's going to be a major problem if we persist with it and teams exploit him even more

I see the official site had it up that we've signed Baba Rahman.  I really hope that this moves Dave t RB, and makes Ivan fight for his spot, and is used as cover at CB seeing as it looks as if we won't get Stones.

 

However, when Jose took Terry off, he gave Ivan the arm band.....so I'm pretty sure we are stuck with him

Ivanovic has been poor for some time now. He may have been voted the best RB last season but we have been saying for a long time now that he is getting caught out more and more often. Everybody is starting to see it now.

He's not a very good full back. Either play him in the middle or sell him and cash in while we still can.

Wish we had a delivery as good as kolorovs or even monreals, from at least 1 full back.

If Ivanovic is going to need protection every single time he defends then that is his problem. Ivanovic for the 2nd and 3rd goal was awful, there is no getting away from that. He didn't even leave the ground to stop Kompany from heading the ball towards goal today. I'm getting a bit fed up with him putting his hands behind his back when a player goes for a cross as well, how are you supposed to attempt a proper block when doing this ? I am also tired of him just standing still when an opposition winger has the ball. He just stands there and wait's for the winger to make his move, it's not good enough. Compare his defensive style to Azpilicueta's and you can see how clear it is that Ivanovic is not a full back.

No, he is a very decent full back - in fact the best in the PL last year according to his peers, but he has had a poor start and isn't sharp, and isn't getting enough cover when one on one.

Having said that, every player plateaus at some point and maybe Ivan has started to decline a tad - let's see what happens next month or so

Wouldn't count him out just yet
