Cesc Fabregas

Featured Replies

He's actually a lot better than I thought he was. He's the midfielder we've been looking for since Carlo left and is still only 27!

Fabregas: "At Chelsea, for sure we can win many, many medals for the next years because we have a very talented young team"

Fabregas: "You knew that every single game you played against #CFC it was going to be tough and that’s what we have to prove with this team"

Fabregas: "At Arsenal, we were most of the games [against Chelsea] the better team, but we were always losing." (Telegraph)

Fabregas: "I always said the same thing. Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal. Then one long ball or freekick, Drogba goal. It was always the same"

Fabregas: "You need that drive. I always felt it at Chelsea from the outside. You need trophies."

Fabregas on his favourite assist: "For Chelsea, the one for Diego [Costa] against Arsenal was very good"

Fabregas: "I don’t care what people say or what they think of me, I go to be the best, win my spot in the first XI & this will never change"

Bit deluded though when it comes to his memory of arsenal chelsea games that he played in...I can rarely remember ever seeing arsenal as 'the better team' during the Drogba years

That's Arsenal-mentality through and through.

You're not better if you have more chances or posession, you're better when you score more goals than your opponent.

Have to say though: I like most of the things Fabregas says in the media these days, he sounds quite bright. It's great to have an experienced player like him in the team and he is still only 27.

I hope he is fine and fit for Saturday as nobody likes players to be injured. However, I don't want him to start against City; the guy is unfortunately a turnstile on defence.

I believe he was taken off as a precautionary move. I'm sure all the key players for the weekend were told to mention if they felt the slightest niggle. Him walking off was a good sign, thats for sure.

The Guardian are reporting Cesc could be out for another couple of weeks yet with his hamstring problem:

Chelsea’s loss of Diego Costa through suspension may be compounded by the absence of Cesc Fàbregas against Aston Villa and Everton, with the Spain midfielder still struggling to recover from a hamstring complaint.

Fàbregas, one of the leaders’ most consistent performers this season, sustained the injury during the second leg of Capital One Cup semi-final against Liverpool last week and watched Saturday’s draw with Manchester City alongside the suspended Costa in the stands. The midfielder has been training alone with a club physio in the period since in an effort to return to full fitness, yet there are concerns that he will not be ready for the two forthcoming Premier League games. As a result, he may not be risked until the Champions League knockout tie at Paris Saint-Germain on 17 February.

Gutting if true, he and Matic have really made us tick. The league games are more important than the Carling Cup but would like for him to be fighting fit for that.

And so it begins...

I wondered when the injury prone Fabregas would be turning up, he seems to always have bad luck as the season progresses, from what I saw of him at Arsenal and Barcelona, Arsenal especially.

I really do worry about us without him. He makes us tick and Ramires simply slows the play down seemingly everytime he receives the ball. I expect either he or Mikel will start on Saturday but I'd like to see Ake there. He has a lovely touch and has never looked out of his depth when he's featured.
