We didn't have him or a player like him so I'd have to say Matic improves us.

He's not as good as the names you mentioned but doubt any of those would want to move to a 6th place side and obviously yes he does improve them a bit as they don't have another CDM.

He'll likely play a different role there, at the base of a 3-man midfield, leaving him less exposed than he was in a 2-man midfield here. He'll defintely improve them and was exactly what they were looking for, but that being said, they could have signed much better players and he is not likely, at 29, to suddenly improve a lot. He will still probably only have a handful of quality games a season, and be quite frustrating in a lot more, but he will be played more to his strengths in a 3.

He'll only get slower and with his weakness in the air, I think we can exploit Utd in this way. What Utd should be concerned about is whether Herrera and Pogba can compensate for Matic's weakness the same way Kante did. Herrera can't man mark Hazard and cover for Matic at the same time

I simply cant understand how you can look at Matic play and think " gee, he sure looks comfortable on the ball".

At least they are beginning to understand the Mourinho Philosophy. Height and Physicality - it's what it's all about!!

I still find the weirdest thing about this transfer is how Matic pushed for the move. Why would you want to leave a title winning team with a manager that believes in you to go to a team that can't even reach top 4, been in decline for the past 5 years and has a manager that lost faith in you when you were last with him?

Can't be much more than less competition, imo. He walks into their starting xi, no longer does here with Bakayoko set to emerge.

As much as I'd rather we kept him I find it funny that the same press who largely overlooked him as an irrelevance whilst here are suddenly praising him as the second coming of Pirlo, Roy Keane and Sergi Busquets rolled into one now that he's a United player.

Didnt he want out last Summer? After the clusterf**k of that season before when he was one of quite a few who were terrible, he'd probably already checked out. He stayed but he was half hearted all season.

Lol, am willing to do more business with United this transfer window as we still have the an experienced and world class keeper in Eduardo who will like to showcase his acrobatic skills in the Champions league this season.

For Nainggolan and Fabinho, moving to United from there current team is a big step up.

Matic and Oscar sum was without addson. The pure sum was 60 + 40.

 

Started for United today against Sampdoria, by reports his 45 minutes were excellent, he has impressed. 

If he will bring his form back and will do his best for United, we will have to worry because at his best, he is one of the best DM's in the league.

i'm more bemused why our rivals are playing so many preseason games and we've only played 4 so far. i hope that doesn't bite us in the arse, but thankfully it looks like our players are in much better shape than during the mourinho season. 

He was always a nice guy on and off the p;itch, but can't say as we should miss him too much. Hes 29 and been average for a while now. They are building a team of average /good players in that United side  to solidify top 4, but not a title winning side.

Not even funny how underappreciative towards Matic people are here. He was more good and even excellent than bad for us. 2 titles in 3 years and the lad played a big part.

I bet he'll do very well for Utd.
