May 18, 201610 yr Thank goodness for that. I hope we don't go through the same sh*t again next season. At some point we will have to say goodbye though
May 18, 201610 yr I'm hoping this is down to Conte. A big question for any new manager of Chelsea would be if he would like to keep JT with all that this entails regarding a link with the recent history of the club, or would he prefer the easy life and get rid. Assuming Conte had a say then he has definitely given the right answer. I'm optimistic now that we have a manager who is secure enough in himself to make the right decisions. Exactly how I feel too, Liam. Very pleased if Conte had a hand in this
May 18, 201610 yr Happy with the news, I hope the "new role" he mentioned was a slight step back in playing terms and a much bigger role in coaching. Maybe a move to Club Captain and play a big part in the team/staff interface. I don't know whether it's a testimony to JT or a damning indictment of Emenalo that at 35 he's still our best defender. It is certainly is better to keep him in that release him and hope to buy a quality replacement.
May 18, 201610 yr Depending on who we bring in I think JT can still be an important player for us. He's been written off many times before but he was one of our standout players last season. He wasn't great this season but he wasn't any worse than either Cahill or Ivanovic. Our midfield has been terrible and I think with a few additions we can still enjoy plenty of JT moments. May 18, 201610 yr so terry signs a new deal and we've made a great deal with nike, all that's left is to start making some quality signings. WE've still got Adidas for another year though, right? So we won't be getting that Nike money until the following season
May 18, 201610 yr At some point we will have to say goodbye though Of course, but i hope Terry is the one that makes that decision and not the club.
May 18, 201610 yr Chelsea fans channel on their report of Terry's new deal said that Conte was involved in the decision. So sounds like he wanted him to stay aswell.
May 18, 201610 yr This way he can plan his semi-exit while nurturing Zouma for example. Nurturing is a good way to describe it. So many youth players have testified to his genuinely caring about their development.
May 18, 201610 yr Great news, we need his leadership in the dressing room and no doubt is still the best defender at the club by a mile.
May 18, 201610 yr WE've still got Adidas for another year though, right? So we won't be getting that Nike money until the following season We need BNPL deals.
May 18, 201610 yr Brilliant stuff.. I wouldn't be suprised if the fans reaction at the bridge after his speech played it's part.. Well done peeps.. Well done the club.. And of course well done JT ..I've gone all emotional
May 18, 201610 yr Just read it. I'm so happy he's staying. Come on John, let's make this year a successful one! Captain, Leader, Legend! KtBFfh [emoji4]
May 18, 201610 yr Exactly how I feel too, Liam. Very pleased if Conte had a hand in this I think it is quite clear that players are a board decision with the occasional dictation from Roman. So I think Conte will have been consulted I would be massively impressed if Conte carved out a role future role for JT at the club next year
May 18, 201610 yr I Didn't really think there was ever a doubt, hope JT realises though this really might be his swan song, and he makes a smooth transition to the Dug out(eventually)
May 18, 201610 yr Great news. I do hope it was Conte's call though. If he was then it would be a great way to get fans on side early on.
May 18, 201610 yr Great news, well done JT ! Reports are saying he has taken a 90k / week cut and snubbed lucrative deals in China, hats off JT !
May 19, 201610 yr Great news for sure! I wonder if Ivan will be off instead. Certainly it is hard to imagine us keeping Ivan, JT, and Cahill.
May 19, 201610 yr Chelsea fans channel on their report of Terry's new deal said that Conte was involved in the decision. So sounds like he wanted him to stay aswell. This is from the official statement. So Conte was involved 100%.The decision has been taken following the appointment of Antonio Conte as the club’s new manager last month, and consultation between Terry, Conte, the owner and the board Oh so very happy! Well done JT.
