Ruben Loftus-Cheek

It was a great beginning for him today, I have a feeling that we got a player that is really worth a spot in the start XI. I won't mind to see him next to Matic next season, Fabregas can take the number 10 spot.

Loved the way he looked so composed but also worked hard without the ball. Some nice clean, crisp passing and hopefully he plays the two games.

Need to see how he plays alongside Matic though.

Someone in the match thread said it was a solid but unspectacular start. I'd say that assessment was fair.

as a first time starter, in a premier league game at home to liverpool id say solid is exactly what we wanted! he will have been told to keep it simple and get used to the pace of the league. he did that perfectly, not a pass out of place, no poor touches. very composed. the time for individual brilliance will come, but now it's about not doing anything stupid, and showing jose he can play to a plan

^^^ Agreed.

The worst thing for a young player is making a big mistake and losing his confidence (along with getting dropped).

Just keep it simple and build confidence to show Jose he does not need Zouma as an emergency back up for CM position

Good solid confident non-spectacular start for RLC. Nothing to dent his confidence and he didn't look out of place.

Much rather this sort of start to his Chelsea career than that of young Januzaj of United.

When he broke unto the scene it seemed that half the world wanted him. All that expectation is bound to

get into a teenagers head.

Didn't look out if place and I'd imagine it wouldn't be ideal to be partnered with Mikel who is pretty one dimensional so his game was altered.

Shouldn't have been subbed as was the better of the two midfielders , hopefully paired with Matic or Ake/Rambo in the next game.

Didn't see any of the game but glad he was solid, he didn't have to do anything spectacular, just look comfortable. By all accounts he did, so very pleased.

In the position he plays in and the job he was asked to do by Jose he was never going to look spectacular, but he did his job and did it very well completed 100% of his passes aswell you can't really ask for more!

Love this kid. He did what he had to do, nothing more but also nothing less. For a first premier league appearance, he didn't look out of place.

Have to agree. We're back to square one with him and apparently looking to loan him.

What a draw okay for yourselves today Mr Beard? I must admit I have no idea of the points gap between 5th and 4th. Regardless if you get CL football or not though I still think you'll be a force next season, certainly title challengers anyway. Even if Liverpool get CL football I don't think they'll mount a serious challenge or attract the sort of players they can afford and need.

Did what was asked of him.

Didn't try too hard which is a good thing. We've seen with Cuadrado how a player trying to do too much can look the worse for it.

Hopefully with more playing time he'd look to impose himself on a game more but that he didn't look out of place is as big a compliment as you can pay.

Solid if unspectacular, but i'm sure Jose told him to go out and do the simple things and leave the fancy stuff to Cesc/Haz/Willian.

Certainly showed up better than Mikel who seemed incapable of tackling anything moving faster than a walking pace, i'd already rate RLC above him.

My Favorite moment was when he shoved Coutinho off the ball and drew a foul.

He looked fairly solid. There was one pass that was a bit hairy (which Zouma covered for), but in general he acquitted himself well. Showed a decent range of passing and a willingness to get stuck in. Certainly worth persisting with as a backup to Matic.

He's not a DM though. And I hope we don't convert him into one just because he has the physique for it.
