July 6, 20197 yr Fantastic news, I was one who struggled to see just where his best position was and whether he would have have enough impact on games but last season he kicked on and looked like he was becoming the player we all hoped he would become.
July 6, 20197 yr I'm so happy that he signed a new contract, it's of our most exciting players at the moment. Hopefully he will have a great season.
July 6, 20197 yr Think we should give Sarri credit he told him he needed to improve he did and second half became a key member of our first 11

If anything we should thank Sarri for not playing him too much due to the risk of repetitive injury, he took good care of RLC.

July 7, 20197 yr Under Lampards guidance on how to be a lethal CM, I believe RLC can absolutely become a lethal outlet of goals from midfield.
July 7, 20197 yr Fantastic to have confirmation that he's re-signed. Started to develop into a great player last season. Hope all is well on the injury front as he continues to recover from his Achilles injury.

July 8, 20197 yr With Hazard gone he is pretty much the new poster boy now. Looks good enough for it anyway!
August 5, 20196 yr Do we have any information on his return date? Callum is expected back at September. That would mean he misses 7-9 official games which is not a lot.We very well might miss his goal scoring abilities.

Could quite well end up being a similar season to him to Ox last season for Scouse in which he doesn't return till late and even then won't be fully fit. With Mount's return and what looks to be a Barkley re-emergence there is absolutely no need to rush him back before he's ready.
August 22, 20196 yr I hope the medical team had a proper look at everything. The guys is a beast but such a shame that his body requires high maintenance to be able to perform consistently
August 22, 20196 yr Love Ruben but he is injury prone for a big lad. Hope i am proved wrong since he is a brilliant player.
August 22, 20196 yr So Frank is thinking about playing Loftus as a striker. Sure worth trying in season like this!

August 22, 20196 yr 26 minutes ago, Dixons said: So Frank is thinking about playing Loftus as a striker. Sure worth trying in season like this! I hope not, if true this screams of Lampard trying just to fit him in somewhere because Mason is (in his eyes) ahead of Ruben in CAM/LCM. Infact out of the two i think Mount has the qualities to play that role more than Loftus does, so if both have to play i'd rather it be Mount F9 and Ruben LCM. Furthermore Ruben will likely need a bit of time to not only gain match fitness but also the level of fitness required for this style, so the way to go for the initial period would be Mason starting and Ruben replacing him on 60-70 minutes then reaccess once he's upto speed.
August 23, 20196 yr Loftus-Cheek isn't really the kind of player to press well, which is what Lampard wants, but he is head and shoulders above mount, talent-wise imo. I'd definitely want to see Loftus-Cheek ahead of Mount in any starting lineup if both aren't able to fit into a three with Kante.
August 23, 20196 yr RLC is wasted further forward, his biggest asset is being able to carry the ball from deep.
August 23, 20196 yr This is a good read from last summer: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44586813 Lampard did an article on Loftus-Cheek for the BBC - he rates him very highly. I found it interested that Lamps mentioned he believes that RLC could play deeper in midfield because he's so tidy in possession and would be able to link up the play well. I've always thought that RLC would thrive in that sort of position as he'd offer us a massive presence in the middle of the park, he's excellent on the ball (strength, press resistant) and he's also a brilliant ball carrier so would be excellent in the transition.

He is a tall guy. His main asset to me is his comfort on the ball and ability to run at opposing players at good pace. He also likes to score. We need him back.
August 23, 20196 yr I reckon Frank will only try Ruben as a striker if Tammy, Giroud and Bats aren't scoring enough goals. We've tried the false 9 numerous times, so i don't see why we shouldn't give this idea a try. Edited August 23, 20196 yr by Dixons
August 23, 20196 yr I have found myself being wowed several times watching RLC execute a turn around an opponent. As has been mentioned, he is so strong with the ball at his feet, you want him in a position where he can use that skill.
