December 4, 201510 yr Begovic is an outstanding keeper, and a far better second choice than I could ever possibly have dreamed of as a replacement for Big Pete. Thank God we did sign someone of his calibre considering the extent of Courtois' injury... imagine if we'd had Rob Green in goal this entire time! We would probably be 16 instead of 14th. I mean lets be real, how many points has Begovic really won us?
December 5, 201510 yr Seeing Begovic in goal for an extended period has made me realise just how fortunate we have been for over fifteen years to have had such great goalkeepers at the club. Cudicini, Cech and now Courtois have all been very solid and as good as Begovic is, it's been noticeable to me that we haven't been playing with a really top quality goalkeeper.
December 5, 201510 yr I don't know... Begovic has done a good job, and Courtois would probably have done similar, given the circumstances. I don't think he has been truly outstanding if I'm honest. Many games where he has been shaky and at fault. Many will disagree but those are just my thoughts on it.
December 5, 201510 yr So y'all saying if hazard gets injured for 3 months but that Pedro did a fine job during is absence you don't put hazard ?
December 5, 201510 yr Fully expect Courtois to play and he is the better and younger keeper - rightfully first choice. Just saying IMO, he wouldn't have helped much through this poor run and Begovic did about as good as we would expect Courtois to do.
December 5, 201510 yr Begovic is a similar calibre of keeper to Courtois. Really is. Nah not for me. Courtios is one of the best in the world.
December 5, 201510 yr dont get me wrong.i totaly agree begovic has been one of our best players this season.tibo has to play though.and im not saying it was a howler .im just pointing out that a world class keeper would have saved that.begovic is a great keeper but not world class.
December 5, 201510 yr Thought he was very good for 89 minutes today, but his 'punch' and wander into no-man's land for their goal was utterly horrendous. A f**k-up of some fantastic proportion.
December 5, 201510 yr We were playing an injury hit Bournemouth for f**k sake, we shoyld have scored several by that point and then it would have been a non issue. Our defence us sh*te because rhey are so nervous because they know we're not going to score, so if we concede we lose
December 7, 201510 yr He was at fault for the goal, but the opponent did well blocking him ( legal or not) from getting a decent touch on the ball. I think that was Invanoic who missed the kick on the clearance, and no one else went for the ball when it was up, really poor from us. This is one area where Cahill is not at JT level, probably never will. JT would usually get a good touch in crucial set piece defending scenario. We probably would have conceded before HT without him, so really can't blame him for the loss. A 0:0 draw at home against a promoted team is hardly inspiring, that's the best we would have got based on that performance.
December 28, 201510 yr Well done, Thibaut! Made some good stops today from the looks of the high lights. Would say De Gea's were better though.
December 28, 201510 yr Author Perhaps. But De Gea is not a Chelsea player and I have nothing with United, Axman2526.
December 28, 201510 yr Finally makes the kind of key save we saw regularly at Atletico...not been doing enough of that...
December 28, 201510 yr Finally makes the kind of key save we saw regularly at Atletico...not been doing enough of that... Been out for 3 months
December 29, 201510 yr still the joint 2nd best keeper in the world (along with de gea) just behind neuer. it was the goalkeepers show last night.
December 29, 201510 yr Author Yep. So do I, The Brit! 63. That's not bad, isn't it? Edited December 29, 201510 yr by Krc-fan
December 29, 201510 yr Was a stark reminder of the difference between a good goal keeper and a world class one. How many points dropped because of Courtois being injured......and Cech sold? Certainly has been no shortage of games this season where the tiniest of differences would of determined getting one or three more points.
December 30, 201510 yr Rumours circulating that he wants to go real Madrid :/ Not cl football next year. Some will want to leave, he could be one. If real have given up on de gea now tibo would likely be the main target. Would make us look very silly for letting big Pete go though lol.
January 14, 201610 yr Probably being a little harsh here, but he doesn't make many saves that make me think 'how did he keep that out'. Maybe he is still lacking a bit of agility after that injury, but I would expect him to pull more world class saves out of the bag.
