Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

I probably overreacted, but it's still frustrating.

My frustration came from thinking about the Liverpool fan situation. I was at first like stop complaining, but now that I think about it, teams do spend fan money really wastefully. Arsenal chartered a flight to Norwich and got a lot of flack for that including from me. I learned that Chelsea did the same.

By the way, there are definitely places in England that have the technology. There's one in London that does the same type of masks for the English rugby team. I hope it was a matter of them being unavailable rather than Chelsea sending players to Milan by default.

It's a slick system, the best and, most importantly, consistent care is offered to avoid unnecessary complications to the health of sportsmen who have a relatively short shelf life career wise.

Broken noses may seem common place, until there are complications, such as breathing issues, that would be a real problem for footballers and others.

The guy looks sharper, fitter and just in better shape than he has done all season, and it shows on the pitch. He wasn't making those runs earlier in the season and I think it's nothing to do with the coach and everything to do with him not having a spare tyre.

Which begs the question, what the hell was he playing at turning up to the first game of the season so pathetically unprepared?

I read that towards the end of Jose's tenure, Diego started putting in two-a-days in order to get his fitness up and it's brilliant that we're reaping the benefits of that now.

But why wasn't this Diego wearing the shirt when the season kicked-off? Why did we have to wait until December for a guy who is paid so much to be in the shape that he should be?

Love the guy but so many 'what ifs?' and it's frustrating as hell.

I think you could apply this questioning to the squad as a whole.

Pre-season was woefully managed. We started too late, the extended holiday time for the players looks to be a poor decision.

The club fitness/medical staff did a poor job of managing player fitness going into the new season.

Throw in the poor management of our transfers during the summer and it ends up being a example of what not to do as champions.

Why is it frustrating, your making no sense at all. This is an asset worth 10s of millions, if the club believe the best protection available us a mask from Italy that probably cost a few thousand pounds all in then why does it matter.

i was watching the game yesterday and thought costa looked very rapid, well is he quick, shearer on motd seems to think not??

Guess it's relative to size and role, compared with Willi no, but I agree Costa is looking swifter than he has.

For a big man, he's got very scrawny legs. Needs to hit the gym for some calf raises.

I think it's the way he's naturally built. He seems to put on weight in the middle, and his legs will be scrawny no matter what. In a few decades, he'll probably be one of those men with a huge belly but the same skinny legs as before.

At the start of the season he admitted being out of shape and it was pretty obvious because he looked porky as it shows above.

Hopefully the club fined him and anyone else who turned up after pre season out of shape.

No excuse at this level.

Hes done it throughout his career, seems to eat like there's no tomorrow once the season is over.

It's something he needs to stop doing. If he carries on like that he will be finished when he hits 30. Look at Rooney now. Rooney should still be at the top of his game, but he is nowhere near the level he was a few years ago because he never looked after his body. It's only in the last year or two that Rooney has stayed in shape, the damage has already been done now though.

Actually thought he was poor yesterday. Keeps trying this cut back on the right foot that stevie wonder could read from a mile away. Lazy link up play too.

Still scored and has been much better of late.

Who would rather Cavani though?

Don't want Cavan or Ibra, would much rather Costa.

He's off in the summer. We're out of every competition.

Should have head butted Michael Oliver if he was going to get sent off.

Might as well go out in style.

Haha, that would been quality.

Said on Sunday Supplement Costa wants out, apparently he wanted out last summer and Madrid bidded for him in Janaury.

I've got some sympathy for the guy. Yes he gets wound up easily, but he was so isolated for so much of that game. Out tactics seem to be to hit the ball for him anywhere in the final-third of the pitch and leave him to it. If he pulls wide, no-one gets in the middle so he then has to wait for everyone to catch up so he can be the target in the box, by which point the opposition has their players back too.

Where are the men in our team to protect him? To get in the ref's face? To back him up? If that was Didier a few years back you'd have JT and Lamps backing him up. You'd have players making runs into the box.

The guy is currently the only one pulling his weight and Guus seems to expect him to carry everyone else with him too. He shouldn't turn his frustration into anger, but you've got to give him a bit of support so he's not getting so pissed off in the first place.

why does he want out? Not questioning you it's the first I've heard on it
