Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Featured Replies

Everything broke down when it got to him, he turns into tackles rather than laying off the pass and moving for the return, his passing is woefully heavy or painfully short.

The irony of his goal was that it was a terrible shank that went in off a defender, if he'd have hit it true the keeper would have probably saved it, should we be grateful he's sh*t then? lol

Every game now I am waiting for him to get the ball hoping for a sign he's got his mojo back, starting to doubt it's going to happen now, and it could cost us dear soon.

Time to cash in on this one, could get a pretty sim for him from China , he seems to want to go, and with CL football looming I'm not sure how he will hold up to multiple games a week, the last few seasons show that his hammys tend to need a week of

He's just in a patch of bad form, pretty confident he'll be back to his best eventually.

Calls for him to be sold is abit extreme, I know he's been rubbish since January but he pretty much played 90 mins in every match we played so it could be down to fatigue.

his form has massively fallen off a cliff but I think we need to persist with him (rather than putting batshuayi or willian in) until the end of the season.

then we need a definitive answer to whether he wants to be a chelsea player. he's a better player than anyone we could likely replace him with, but only when his head is right- and that is not guaranteed.

I'd like to give pedro a run up front while costa is given a rest. Pedro's pressing and movement would be effective I reckon. Costa could be fatigued, he's just frustrating to watch atm.

I wouldn't have any problems seeing him replaced by Belotti in the summer to be honest.

I just don't understand the hatred. In the last interview he said he is verry happy to play for Chelsea but he is not happy with the life in London.

So no need to panic, he's obviously gone next season.

Diego Costa insists he is ‘very happy’ at Chelsea but has suggested that he is encountering problems with life in London.

The 28-year-old has already admitted that he ‘did everything possible’ in order to return to Atletico Madrid last summer, which included informing Antonio Conte on his first day at Chelsea that he wanted to leave Stamford Bridge.

Costa, whose form has dipped since the January transfer window, was also the subject of a £90 million offer from Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian earlier this year.

And while he admits he is content at Chelsea, the striker has suggested that external factors away from the club are making him unhappy in London.

‘I have another two years on my contract,’ the striker told SFR Sport.

‘I am always very honest with those close to me. I tell them that I am very happy at Chelsea.

‘The club gives me a lot, the fans, the team-mates. I am in a team that is winning and that motivates me even more. Last season was not the best, not just for me but for other players and for Chelsea.

‘This year I hope will be different, that we win titles. If you are in a team that is winning, you always want to stay for the allotted amount of time.

‘I am happy at Chelsea, I am not necessarily saying that I am happy with my life in London, but that is something completely different. It has nothing to do with it.’

There is no way i am having the fatigue excuse. We have had no European football this season and Costa has only played in 31 games. None of our players can be fatigued this season. It's not like he is doing the same amount of work as the likes of Moses, Alonso, Kante and Hazard either, so that is even more reason not to buy that excuse.

I just think he is a half a season player. Every season he is brilliant for half of it, and poor for the other half.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the summer. I would personally try and push him towards atletico on the relatively cheap as long as we got greizmann in return.

Sell batshuayi, bring back tammy, and then sign a new striker.

griezmann has reiterated his intentions to remain at atletico. i don't see costa going back there, and atletico wouldn't be able to afford what we ask for him. he won't go for less than 60-70 million (add 20 million to those numbers if china come in for him though) so that excludes atletico.

I don't think United away is the kind of game to drop our 'only' striker, but I could see changes in the next game if he doesn't deliver this Sunday. Conte won't publically shame a player, but he won't have hesitations to drop one who doesn't perform. It took Conte 5-6 games in to drop Ivanovic, when 2 managers over a whole season couldn't do it.

"Diego Costa hands in transfer request after being charged a fiver for a pint"

Edited by PloKoon13

I love Costa, and he has scored some massive goals this season. Cannot believe that people are contemplating selling him willingly. I think he will force a move but people who think we would get less than 50 million for him are off the mark.

If he was to leave? Looking like Morata + 1 more coming in.

No wonder costa hates the media in this country...gives a load of quotes about how hes happy at chelsea and wants to stay (cynic in me wonders whether that's true, but nice sentiment nevertheless) and drops in one comment about not enjoying living in London at the end and all the headlines are about that and that suggesting it means he's definitely off...even though he said (along the lines of) 'but my situation at Chelsea doesn't depend on that'. Ridiculous.

As much as I dislike the media I don't think they've done anything untoward here.

Costa is just trying to set himself up to leave in the summer by saying 'It's not Chelsea's fault I just hate London' - which may or may not be true but just seems like an excuse to get himself out...
