Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

I just hope you are not reffering to Lukaku when you say invest elsewhere.

I think we'd have the same problems we have with Diego with Lukaku, which is motivating him for the big games. It'd be a like for like and a step down really.

We need to be looking at players like Sanchez, Bellotti, Morata in my opinion.

Lukaku has every attribute Costa has and more. He can actually dribble with the ball and his first touch has improved ten fold, much better than Diego's now. Lukaku being flanked by Eden and Sanche would be up there with the best attacks in Europe. Possibly only bettered by Barca.

His first touch was not great in both the Derby and against United.

I honestly don't see a great dribbler in him with the ball either. He looks lazy and slow to me whenever I see him play.

When both are at their best Costa is a significantly superior player IMO as we saw at the start of the season, he was unplayable. Trouble is his best has not lasted long for us.

Both are not at it just now so that probably doesn't help. One want's away and the other we have no idea what the problem is.

Lukaku may get better or may not, I think there are significantly better strikers out there but the problem is their availability. For instance Aubameyang, Dyabla and I'm really starting to warm to the likes of Belleti and Mbappe. I'd have any of those over Lukaku but the chances of any of them coming here are very slim.

Could also have Sanchez as the striker and Hazard and Pedro flanking him. Pretty damn good that too, Pedro's been immense this season.

Let's be honest here. Diego is a poacher. If the ball drops to him in the box and its an instinctive finish, he's great. But ask him to do pretty much anything else - dribble, pass, cross, hold up play, one-on-ones where he has to think for a few seconds, and its a real struggle for him. So when he's not scoring, he looks atrocious, because he fails to do anything else. We really need another striker who can actually put pressure on him for next season, someone with different attributes who can do those things he can't. Sanchez is the obvious one. Lukaku is too similar, so it would have to be one or the other, not both him and Costa.

If Costa leaves and we buy Sanchez, we will also buy another CF. No way will we buy Sanchez to lead our line. He will be supporting the line for instance behind a Lukaku or Costa if he stays. Just because Arsenal have been playing Sanchez majority of games at CF, does not mean we will do the same.

What I don't understand is why would you have Mbappe over Lukaku? He is a brilliant prospect but for a guy who only burst on the scene this season and still has improving to do like Lukaku, he would not be a better fit at CF for us over Lukaku. Lukaku is a few years older while being very young but is also suited to the PL as he has been here for a few years now. Mbappe would not be an option to be our leading CF right now. He should spend another season at Monaco imo.

Absolutely not. Costa has fight. Lukaku has none. Can you give me one occasion where Lukaku has shown real spirit?

Suarez has fight and is a genius. No other striker even comes close to him in my opinion. Barca's front line is some distance ahead of every other.

Because he can play football, he's blistering fast, unreal ball control and looks a far better prospect than Lukaku ever did. That's why.

He plays in formation with 2 strikers. A lot more difficult to do that in a team that plays 1 striker and also in the PL where you won't get as much space.

Look forward to see him replaced by Lukaku/Morata/Sanchez to be honest.

LIABILITY.

Bournemouth, City, Crystal Palace, United, Stoke and more, 5+ games in a row where he hasn't just played average, he's been awful in them. At the moment, he is stopping us putting games to bed, he's keeping other teams in games because he can't get anything right. It either breaks down with him or he's miss hitting shots. Honestly, his technique at times is like a non league player. He's making the basics look difficult.

Could have been given that first goal, but that would obscure yet another petulant performance.

I wish he would get back into form because prime Costa would bully Rojo and Bailiy.

He needs to f**k off so badly. Hopefully some stupid Chinese club will pay way over the odds for him. I reckon we could fleece them for £50mil easy.

Playing with 10 men is better. What the hell does Michy have to do to get in the team? Diego is f**king awful.

I think Costa is fabulous on his game, but against Bournemouth, as a paid pro that is one of the worst displays i have witnessed, Even Shevva or Kezman weren't that bad in 1 game..

Was never a big fan of Costa because of his attitude, always fighting, angry etc but when on form he can be a beast. At the moment when he a not hot in front of goal he still offers the harassment of defenders and I think sometimes his reputation goes before him in unsettling other teams. However I get so frustrated with the number of moves that break down with Costa. If the like of Sanchez as playing up front with hazard and Pedro, with his tight control and scoring ability, I'd think we would be by now home and dry in the Prem.

if Costa moved on in the summer I wouldn't be that disappointed.

We don't have to wait for Sanchez. Play Pedro there now and Willian on the right. Costa has had some great moments here but wow... Conte really has to try something else.
