Some people forget just how bad Torres was!!!

Oh I have never forgotten trust me, however Diego for the past month or so has been awful. It's like he has forgotten how to play football.

With Torres his ability had gone it wasn't down to attitude or anything just unfortunate, that's what makes it worse with Diego. We all know he can be one of the best striker sin Europe when he wants to be, he looks like he isn't arsed anymore which is horrible given the team need him more than ever.

In a period of poor form, but lets not forget all the goals he has scored earlier in the season.

He may yet have a strong finish..

That has been the case the last 3 seasons. He starts off strongly and Post-December the goals just dry off. It is a weird one because you keep on playing him in the hope he scores a few goals & things return to normal, and his personality means you can't bench him as he can be a loose cannon.

Problem is the games come in hard & fast post-Dec and with the added pressure of having a decent run in the CL, we need another goal scoring outlet in the first 11 if he stays. Breaking the bank for Sanchez is a no-brainer.

For someone who celebrates every goal we score with such passion you would think he wouldn't care. This guy dragged us through the first half of the season with some absolutely crucial goals and now he's getting this treatment same happened to Hazard matic Kante some fans really need a reality check

Without Costas goals we wouldn't be this far ahead crystal palace away WBA at home comes to mind and am sure they are alot more

Its just a second half thing, it happened in the last title win and with Atletico. The same way in which Kane unexplainably drops in form as soon as the clocks go forward and stays average until they go back again. Truth be told id still take this Costa or even the 15/16 Costa over Torrres at any point during his time here.

Also Fernando's attitude wasn't as great as general opinion believed, many times I saw him shrug his shoulders and go through the motions because he wasn't getting perfect passes and its well documented he was sulking after Munich to the point Robbie cut short his own celebrations to mollycoddol him. Then there was the I didn't care comments (imagine if Costa got dropped now and pulled the same interview in the summer...)

Torres looked like that at Atletico, Liverpool, Chelsea, Milan...pretty much everywhere he played. That's just the way he carries himself on the park.

I don't think that's really a fair comment. Costa has been well below par for more than a while now, there's nothing unfair in that whatsoever.

I like Diego, he's a great goalscorer (most of the time) but as a technical footballer I stand by that he's not very good at all. His touch & running with the ball borders on atrocious at times, even his hold up play for a big guy, leaves a lot to be desired. The fact he's letting his petulant behaviour creep back in to his game isn't going to help keep fans onside.

So naturally when he doesn't score, he doesn't really bring much else to the party so he's going to look even worse and get it in the neck, especially with some of the chances he's had I'd expect even me to score them.

Is that true? I'm away and missed the last few matches but according to a match report I read he was responsible for two of the goals against Bournemouth, a mis-hit and a foul for Alonso's free kick. I'm also sure he's a handful for defences giving Hazard and the others chances as well.

Its reaching abit saying Costa was responsible for the first goal. It was a terrible shot which had to deflect to go in. That's why it was an own goal. It's not like that gave him any confidence to improve his performance.

The second I thought was a bad touch or the ball bouncing around. Could be wrong and being abit harsh on Costa but IMO he hasn't played well since Jan but in some games the goals gloss over his performance.

Looking at it again Costa was running at 2 defender's and lost the ball. The ball bounced around and Costa managed to get a foot in before another player did.

I love Costa but he has been poison the last few weeks.

I've no problemns with a CF going through a lean spell but hes going through a lean spell and hes playing some awful sh*t on top of it.

Him saying hes not settled in London either doenst make for good reading, I'd sell him in the summer anyway and thank him for his great service.

I'm tired of people moaning at other members of the forum just for criticising a player. It's a forum, what do you want us to do, say nothing ? I'm not someone who praises a player and then says nothing when that player is on a terrible run of form. If you can praise a player for playing well then you can criticise them when they are playing poor too. It's not like people started criticising Costa after one or two games, the criticism started when it became clear that his form had falling off a cliff. His recent run of bad form isn't anything new, it's been going on since January. It's not something people are going to ignore.

First of all Costa is very hard to to replace. His form atm is bad but I think Conte looks beyond a couple of games. He knows if Costa finds his form again he will strike us to title.

West Ham at home and Boro away are both games he scored winners in as well.

Yep those two games also

That's 12 points so far and am sure he won us more with assist too. Got us back in the crucial game at city and pretty sure he setup the winner against spurs at the bridge.

It's a team effort and if he's having a dip Conte has done the correct thing because he see's his attitude and application is still the same it's just not dropping for him. He still scares the crap out of defender's.

It really isn't though. He's gone from getting his head down and playing to win to trying to cause silly arguments with defenders like dragging ?Delph? down when we were on the counter against City. He looks uninterested at best most of the time.

Maybe it's the body language? He no longer want to play with us.

Bound to be a confidence thing, a goal of two will put him back in the zone again surely!

He can score, no question to that. The problem is the desire.

I dont think it is the desire, you look at the games, you still see him hustling and running and linking up. It is just that things are not clicking. I dont think it is lack of desire, I think it is more to do with a bad patch and unfortunately only he can snap out of it. The problem is we have no proper back up striker to bring him away, Every game he plays and doesnt score, the pressure seems to on him and the more the patch, the more mentally he gets affected. More reasons we need a backup striker capable of coming in and scoring. Which begs the question - What is going on with Michy ? If there ever was a time to give him minutes, It is now.

He'll be back to his best before end of the season and fire us to the title.

Hope that return to form is today v Man Utd.

And scores the winner.
