Like JFH, Costa suffers from the twin curses of poor heading technique and no athleticism. Also like JFH, it stands out like a sore thumb because their striker's instinct gets them into excellent positions which they then squander.

Did they not teach jumping at Atletico Madrid?

    Was frustrating but so good at the same time. Nice to see him back scoring again and finally getting more than 1 goal in a game since our 4th game against Swansea I believe. His last goal was just outstanding and it is so good to see the passion he showed when he scored. Those goals meant a lot to him and even if he wants to leave, as long as he plays his heart out till the end of the season, I am happy. Diego is back!

    That second goal he got was perfect. His strength, touch and finish was spot on. If that was the Costa we got on a regular basis then i wouldn't worry about him so much. Let's just hope those 2 goals have given him the confidence to play more like his best.

    I've been hard on Costa of late and although I didn't think his general play was great in the first half, if he scores 2 and gets an assit every game then I don't really care if he sits on the grass for the rest of it.

     

    He's the epitome of a confidence player IMO, and I think he's got it back just at the right time, Costa on form would seal the title for me, let's hope he keeps it rolling on to Sunday, two big CB's who'll want a battle. Here's hoping he gives them the right kind of battle as he did tonight. 

     

    We'll to defend better than we did tonight against Everton, but more of the same going forward should see us get something from the game at least

    Played very well against Southampton.

    19 premier league goals this season is not bad at all. The only thing that lets him down I feel is his control and losing possession to opponents.

     

     

    Seems that 'dropping' him for Batshuayi was the right move.

    His second goal was classic Costa - knocking defenders out of the way before slamming it into the corner.

    But I think we need to send Bats on loan somewhere and get another striker in to compete with Costa.

    Hardly an assist was it? More like an off load to Hazard because 'I'm surrounded by three defenders and I'm buggered, see what little you can make of this". And of course, the Magician obliged. Costa was poor in the first half.

    It's still an assist, he laid in a nice pass. You're really simplying it because you have some problem with Costa it seems. End of the day the entire team were sloppy first half and in the second half Costa delivered. He's been crap for week but he should be praised for the performance last night which yes was two goals and an assist!

    I removed him for Lukaku a couple of weeks back (against Leicester) and made him as my triple captain. Lukaku ended up scoring 2. Gotta love lukaku

    The problem I have with Costa is that he's employed by Chelsea Football Club, is supposed to be the Club's No.1 striker but as been a pile of dung since the January transfer window. His first touch has been dire and he's spent more time on his arse remonstrating with the referee than on his feet. "Crap for a week?" I suggest you check your calendar more often.

    Where did I say he hasn't been poor? If you look back I've been moaning about him for ages in the match day threads. I missed the s off weeks but I didn't say crap for A week. There's no 'a' in my sentence. The fact is he got an assist yesterday and two goal, you can whinge all you want but he gave a good performance yesterday. Whether you count his assist as an assist or not the fact is it's an assist.

    Conte must have talked or beat some sense into Costa, that was more of a 50M striker performance.

    Just win us the double, and we will drive you to the airport.. I suspect that was the message from Conte.
