June 10, 20179 yr Am I the only one who thinks it's extremely unprofessional that Conte ended Costa's Chelsea career via text?? Text!

Probably not the best way to do it, if it's true, but I don't feel any sympathy for Costa. He was overweight and unfit at the start of our 15/16 season and tried his best to leave for Atletico at the start of this season, but they bought Gameiro instead. I wouldn't be suprised if that already strained Contes patience with him from the start. In January Conte probably made up his mind about him, with the rumoured bust up.

Second, even if they did, as a professional footballer, Conte would be talking about next season, not next year.
June 10, 20179 yr This is the message (apparently) or a recreation of what it said anyway. I know Costa has his flaws but it seems shockingly unprofessional to go about things this way. To be fair f**k him stood beside him through all other issues but downing tools in Jan when we are first in the league is criminal, would genuinely of had drogba back from Jan as he would have at least gave it his all for the team. Bet contes thinking "thank f**k we managed to pull it off with this c**t trying to disrupt us every step of the way" after contes performance this season I can say I wholeheartedly trust his decisions! Can't say I fully believe he would do it by text but even if he did so what He deserved a post-it written in crayon stuck on his locker :) thanks for the service but please f**k off Diego no ones bigger than Chelsea or the manager
June 10, 20179 yr I think that we underestimate players' power again and this may turn to another split dressing room season. And Conte's demise. What was he thinking?
June 10, 20179 yr I will never believe that on this level, a professional coach will tell things like that to his player by message.

I can imagine a 'joke' text from Costa! These two clearly rub each other up the wrong way. Didn't Conte rant 'go to China' at him in training as all the transfer stuff surfaced. Costa clearly isn't a conte type personality but it's seeming conte also maybe could have tempered down the conflict, I can only guess he didn't want to, maybe a fight suited him and he felt bigger picture costa will end up causing him trouble again, this may have been the excuse he needed...cold decisions.

Yeah am pretty sure conte will be gone by this time next year now. Could be another 10th place finish if we get this wrong. The board may want to speak with our players asap and gage the general feeling.
June 10, 20179 yr I said that from this broke. Costa was a hugely popular figure in the dressing room so it's a bit worrying if the other players take issue with this whole episode. We know player power is king these days and we saw first hand how it destroyed our season last year. That can't be risked again. we don't and will not know the full story but regardless Costa should never have taken this public until at least discussing matters with the club first.
June 10, 20179 yr Don't know if Costa was a highly popular figure in the dressing room or not. Maybe a lot are saying 'thank f**k that prick's gone'.
June 10, 20179 yr First it`s said that Conte was wishing everyone happy holidays and to not forget to stay in shape. Then Costa put some idio** text back and then Conte partycally said you are not in my plans. And i`m pretty sure Costa already was knowing that. Conte probably speak with the team at the end of the season and tell anyone what to expect and who will stay and who will go and to search a new club. Costa always play victim, but he is not. I don`t know why anyone try to make it`s Conte fault`s, cause its not. What is such bs. like Costa did not deserve that and blq, blq, blq ... Did the team or the coach deserved the january situation when Costa started to doing sh** ? And then missing for the rest of the season, leave us with 10 men on the pitch most of the time ? He even faked an injury. I also think if we could have get Llorente in the winter, Costa already would be sold to China. Yes he was scoring goals and help the team to win 2 titles, but this trophies are in his card too, and he was highly paid for it. So Costa did not do anything for free or for the club. He was paid to do what he do. And he still was getting his salary, when he was injured as well as he was missing due to his sh** antics. No regrets for him, he did all of this to himself. And the only way he can hurt the dressing room is if he stay in the club. But we will sell him or send him with the reserve.

Well we do as Cesc, Luiz and Terry have all said he's one of the biggest characters in the dressing room and leading the practical jokes. We all seen his antics after the title win hopefully the players don't take much out of it and realise Costa wanted away regardless of this text thing
June 10, 20179 yr The only thing shocking about that is offering a considered opinion on something that 'apparently, may be, a recreation' of what was said, without context.
June 11, 20179 yr Whatever it is, hope it gets sorted out before the transfer window or at the latest, before preseason starts.
June 12, 20179 yr http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2715151-chelsea-transfer-news-diego-costa-open-to-loan-deal-to-secure-atletico-move Don't want us doing him any favours and selling him back to Atletico. I honestly believe he exaggerated this text to lower his price and engineer a move back to Atletico like he's been trying to do since day one.
June 12, 20179 yr He's never wanted to be here, it's getting a bit boring now. At least with Lukaku we'll have a player who genuinely wants to be at the club.

Sounds like a complete Mendes driven fabrication in my opinion, surprised so many 'respected' journalists are entertaining the story... same old summer transfer window scratching for a story boredom

June 12, 20179 yr Costa admitted that he went all out trying to engineer a move out of Chelsea just before the beginning of previous season. He didn't want to be at the club, but Conte convinced him to stay. Then there was the situation in January when his head wasn't right for one reason or another (China or whatever) and he has the nerve to talk about being a victim here. I seriously doubt Conte would try to solve it like that with a text message.
June 12, 20179 yr Unless we got the offer we want, we should rot him in the reserve. What ever's been texted and said between Conte and Costa, it's strictly private matters, only a f* wit would make it public deliberately to force a transfer. I say f* him, bench him, fine him until he cancels he fix that bug in his head. If Jose wants him, 100M it is.

There are ways of engineering a move, in public is not one of them.
