Mikel leaving was already too much for you plonks, Costa would be a step too much? Lol

I just don't think we would be capable of replacing him with someone on the same level.

With Mikel we had to sign the best defensive midfielder in the world to replace him!

We always seem to find a way, even if it takes a year or two. Never thought we could replace Zola and everything he brought to the club, but there was Drogba. After him how could we replace such a leader on the front lines? There came Diego.

I am sure, if he does leave us which at some point he has to, we will find someone able to replace him.

Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian wants to buy Costa for £127m, having an £90 mil offer already turned in january. That is alot of money for a 28 year old, who will be close to 29, when next season starts. I would be tempted to sell him for that amount, if we also sold Batshuayi for  £30mil, we would have  £160mil + Oscar money to reinvest into the squad.

Costa would be hard to replace. His best qualities is his intensity, aggression, positioning and finishing. He is not a very good target striker though, like many think he is because of his size. He looses the ball very easily at times and his aerial duels won is as low as 25% (Lukaku, Morata has 40%+ and "Benteke" 60%). He does however use his aggresion and size to win other duels with defenders, wich has given us some important goals, the Sunderland goal is a good example of that.

Possible replacements:

Morata : £50 mil

Sanchez : £70-80 mil

Griezmann : £80-90mil

Aubameyang : £50-60 mil

Mbappe : £50 mil

Dembele : £30-40 mil

Lukaku : £70-80 mil

With £160 mil+ to spend you could create a very good replacement attack. Example: Sanchez, Morata, Mbappe (maybe sell Willian to make room)

I love Diego and have since he's come here. He works hard and leads the line with aggression and a blue collar attitude. With that said, 129m is way too hard to pass up. Combine that with Oscar and mikel fees and you're talking what, 180m-200m to replace him?  I'd say we could find a suitable replacement :)

How on earth sanchez would cost 70 -80 mils?? By next summer, he'd only have 1 year left in his contract, can't be that expensive, can it?

Anything above 100mils for costa seems like a good business for us, of all the replacements you mentioned, personally I'd only consider sanchez/griezman/lukaku, either of those 3 looks like a safe bet..

Btw, why didn't you mention messi? he hasn't signed an extension, has he? might worth a punt..

I threw a very high sum on all the potential transfers, wich would make it alot more likely for us to buy them. Arsenal would probably do all they can to get Sanchez to sign a new contract, or try to sell him abroad to Inter, Milan, Bayern or PSG. I would like to think that the sale of Cech created a little opening for a player to go the other way, but I doubt Wenger/Arsenal/Fans could live with selling their best player to us. It would be great if it happened though, with us also buying their first and maybe second option strikers. They probably wouldn't reinvest the money we overpay into their squad anyways.

I prefered Morata to Lukaku for several reasons. He would cost alot less, better target and linkup striker, he wouldn't get pissed if he didn't get to play for a few games and Conte already knows how to best make use of him. His goal points (assists/goals) are better then Lukaku, if you look at minutes played as well.

Mbappe would be more an exchange for Batshuayi, another player that wouldn't mind not playing every game, huge talent though. Maybe we could send Tammy Abrahams to Moncao on loan next season to replace Mbappe, would be a good place for him to make the next step.

Messi won't leave Barcelona for another european team, only transfer I can see him make is China for insane money when he is finished at top level.

Why would you spend £50m on a third choice striker?

I wouldn't see him as a third choice striker with the increased number of games next season. I think it would be unrealistic to think Sanchez would be playing every game as a winger and at the same time cover the striker position. I think our lineup would be Hazard-Morata-Sanchez, with Pedro covering for Sanchez and Mbappe for Morata.

I'd rather have Diego back, too, especially for Champions League where he can piss off those Madrid players again. But then if that means a constant clash of strong personalities, which can be detrimental to the club, I'd rather see him in China.
