Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Featured Replies

Well, no. A laager is a wagon fort. The word you're thinking of is Lager which is German for camp, and sometimes is used as a short for concentration camps (Konzentrationslager) in other languages.

Correct. I think he means a Kraal.

Sheesh....

i sense the word 'campaign' will be back in common parlance over the next few weeks. this was a media witch hunt which made everything about costa and seemed oblivious to the fact that gabriel did anything wrong. the FA once again have made a ridiculous decision. To ban costa is perfectly acceptable and understandable, but to withdraw that red card take some serious balls. regardless of how hard the kick was, it was an immediate reaction after the referee had issued a warning. stupidity and it deserved to be punished.

The press will make out like Jose is trying to create an 'us against them' mentality at Chelsea again, but with decisions like this from the FA he really doesnt have to work too hard. seems like when wenger whinges, people listen, when jose does it it's mind games, or trying to create a distraction from the match.

He'll still get banned, it just won't be 3 games. Most likely be 1 game for improper conduct.

Basically all they are saying is that Gabriel's kick wasn't worth a straight red and a 3 game ban, it was worth a second yellow and a 1 match ban which I think is correct. I remember being surprised Dean gave him a straight red when I was watching live.

If the referee had given a second yellow would they be allowed to appeal? i know they cant appeal a yellow under normal circumstances, would a second yellow be different? he should have a 2 game ban, 1 for the sending off, and 1 for refusing to leave the pitch

So by your logic it should actually be two games...one for a second yellow and one for not leaving the pitch when sent off...but bet he only gets one...

I just struggle to see how what he did was any different to what DC did. He attempted to strike an opponent end of story. The other crack is if u watch it back Gabriel raises his hands at DC at the start. f**king joke

Two yellows comes to one game ban and Costa gets his 3 game ban. I think it is fair but a bit weird they already charged him and now it is overturned by them.

Costa started it all lets not forget it and we eventually won 3 points which was helped by that red card.

Costa's gained a reputation the same as Suarez did. In a real world and it football it is how it should be. I'd be very annoyed if Costa was super-crucial to our game atm but he isn't. Costa wont stop it as Jose already praised him.

I tend to get confused with these stupid rules but from my understanding you can only appeal a straight red card, you can't appeal two yellow cards.

Improper conduct is normally one game but there have been cases where the maximum of two games have been applied, which is what happened with Matic. I actually forgot about him not leaving the pitch, that should make it two games. You never know, The FA might get something right for once.

Clearly that boycott of Costa coffee by Arsenal fans must have worked and they have been either pressurising or bribing the FA to rescind Gabriel's ban due to their small loss of custom lol, only explanation that can think of that makes sense. time for us Chelsea fans to boycott Starbucks.

But more seriously I'm guessing Gabriel needs to face a ban for the charges of improper conduct so this is merely a reduction in sentence, which to all those people (mostly opposition fans) suggesting Costa's antics going unpunished sends a bad message to all the kids watching the game surely rescinding Gabriel's ban also sends a bad message to all those youngsters.

Makes a mockery of the Matic suspension last season.

Kicking (retaliation) someone who was pushing you about trying to rile you up = no ban
Pushing someone to the floor after being on the receiving end of a horror tackle (which was not punished) = 2 game ban. Miss cup final.

Dat logic.

Classic disruption/distraction technique employed by arsenal. And oh look, The fa are more than happy to yet again feck us over and let a clearly guilty arsenal player off, Gabriel committed a red card offense and got involved in an incident between two players, He got a yellow then kicked out at costa with the ref on top of him, How this incident has turned against us and now looks like costa will get a ban is simply astonishing.

I will be pretty dis heartened if the club don't kick up a stink tbh.

This is unbelievable. I don't like what Costa did but the FA are a total joke.

There is probably nothing we can do so it's probably best to just accept it.

Pisses me off though.

Unbelievable decision from the FA overturning Gabriels red card. So a player who  is rightly sent off gets his 3 match ban lifted, whilst you can bet your bottom dollar that Costa, who wasn't sent off gets a 3 match ban slapped on him. Ffs.

for me this kind of stuff is simply ruining the game, Yes its funny when it happens to other clubs, But the integrity of the game has all but dried up looking at this..

Forget high transfer fees and wages, This is what is ruining the game.

its now a game of: 'who can get who sent off then tickle the fa best and deepest until someone gets a let off'

JOKE

Apparently arsenal were able to prove his kick didn't make contact and used footage of Costa's incident as part of defence...all very odd...even if he didn't make contact, they have rules about intent...may not have been the hardest kick, but he tried to kick Costa off the ball, that's clear...how the fa can overturn that is laughable...

You can bet they'll wait till after the Walsall game to bann Costa so that doesn't take up a game. Remember how fast they were to bann him last season so he'd miss the City game? The FA are a complete joke.

Are you suggesting the FA have developed some kind of hatred for Chelsea and are using their powers to unjustly punish them?

Or are you being a tad paranoid?

#TheCampaignReturns, anyone who doesn't think the FA have an agenda against us has further proof that they clearly do. I think this calls for a press conference highlighting things like Ageuro's & Toures stamps, Sanchez punching etc etc

That would be a stupid move, all it would achieve is getting José banned too. Everyone who cares knows it already and the rest are happy to see Chelsea punished for anything or don't give a sh*t about football.

What Chelsea needs is more rational people in the media who will call it as it is. Like Martin Samuel.

Where's the inconsistency? Two weeks ago Naismith took a violent kick at Ivan. No card, no ban. Gabriel does a petulant donkey kick at Costa. Precedent clearly states that the card was wrong and so he gets no ban.

Why are we so paranoid?

What winds me up the most is that Gabriel has got off with nothing, he got involved and petulantly kicked Costa. In reality it's all handbags of course but I don't understand how the FA can justify rescinding the red card when what he did was CLEARLY against the rules.

I think he bought this on himself, you cant go out with the intention of trying to fight everyone you have some contact with, guarantee he won't do that to say mr Shawcross, i personaly think he is a bully, but our bully, play with the aggression, not the willl to fight, it has ultimately cost us him for 3 games, if Chelsea appeal probably reduce to a two match ban....
