Chelsea in for Falcao?

Featured Replies

This makes no sense, it goes completely against our whole transfer ethos of the past few years. I still think its utter bollocks.

His wages is £12 mil a year in Monaco, without tax. I doubt Falcao wants to earn 1/3, or 1/4 of that with us because of a paycut and taxes.

no longer tax-free. they passed a rule saying it was unfair for monaco to have an advantage buying players, so players for monaco must pay the same taxes as any other player playing in france. that's my understanding anyway. it's why they suddenly stopped signing world-class players like james and falcao, because they could no longer lure them with being a tax haven

People are saying it's fine if he signs because he's only going to play the drogba role as third choice striker.

This season drogba featured in more games than Costa. According to sky sports anyway.

At least drogba is a big bully who can give defences a headache with his presence. Falcao does not offer those characteristics and will be a f**king disaster IMO.

Would in no way feel confident going into a crunch PL game with Costa and remy injured, knowing that we had falcao leading the line. This just makes no sense, at all.

Falcao's movement, if not his finishing, would make him a bigger threat than drogba in my opinion. drogba was not very effective this season and i think falcao can trouble defenders, even if his only purpoe is to create more space for hazard/oscar/willian

That's what I tell myself, but in the back of my mind is the niggling thought that anything is possible when it comes to Chelsea buying forwards.

Because Roman makes the decisions

Roman wouldnt of gone over Joses head for this. This is all Jose in my opinion, if Roman was still making transfer decisions then im sure Jose wouldnt be here at the club.

And Roman does like his washed-up strikers: Shevchenko, Torres, Eto'o, Drogba Mark 2. Why stop the rot now? Besides, it's official club policy to have an over-the-hill striker on the books.

He likes to have big names on the team. I think it's more marketing tactic than anything. If we sign him he will be probably 3rd choice striker, just like Drogba who will be leaving to MLS.

I don't think Falcao will be useless. He will score goals.

He was horrible in Man U because of the injury and quite unorthodox and dumb strategy that Van Gaal brought to the team.

I would be happy with a loan, but a transfer is a definite no no.

A loan means he is still under contract with Monaco and, therefore, would still be entitled to the same wages.

By buying him it means his contract will be renegotiated.

If he is taking a pay cut and if the price is right then it might not be that bad a move. There is no way we are going to be paying him anywhere near what he was getting and I suspect he realises his market value is not what it was.

Having said all that, I do find it all surprising bearing in mind how we have made it clear we need to start looking into the academy first.

This is f**king ridiculous if true we have Bamford out on loan whose only 21 and looks to be more than ready for a back up place in the team, Why would we pay 40m and hinder his chances along with someone like Solankes

Because this is Chelsea.

Lets be real for a moment. Does he really? I mean if he wasnt our player would you even entertain the possibility og signing him to be our 3rd striker?

I find it ridiculous when we have two young strikers who are confident and desperate for experience, I won't really care that much if its on a free which is unlikely but if a serious amount of money paid it really is a disgrace considering what we have in the youth ranks

I can see where we're coming from here, having falcao as back up to costa. It seems costa's hamstring continues to raise concerns. There are literally no other strikers out there who will come here and play second fiddle, so in that sense it makes sense.

It's happening isn't it?

Awww man.

As if having one sh*t Columbian player wasn't bad enough

Thought the madness was behind us.

If it goes tits up which it most certainly will then we only have ourselves to blame. At least the season we got Torres he was scoring before he joined

Remy is back up and he scores more goals than Falcao

A lot of people here were saying remy isn't good enough. There aren't any other top strikers who will come here as back up. At least falcao is experienced enough to lead the line when costa is out.
