*Official* Pedro to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Pedro, welcome to Chelsea. What are your first impressions of Cobham?

It’s absolutely great here. I am really impressed with the facilities. All my new team-mates have been really nice and I can’t wait to start playing games here. I am so happy.

How was training today?

It was very intense, very physical. I am ready to start playing straightaway if the manager selects me. I am in very good shape because I have already played for Barcelona this season.

Have you spoken to the manager? What did he say?

He is one of the main reasons why I’m here. He phoned me a few times and said he needed me to make the team stronger.

He has won titles wherever he has been. I am really looking forward to playing under him and hopefully winning more titles.

You’ve been involved in a couple of Champions League semi-finals between Barcelona and Chelsea in the past. What do you remember of those ties, in 2009 and 2012, and playing at Stamford Bridge?

They were hard matches for us. They were all interesting games but I have good memories from them. The fans never stopped. They always got behind the team. It was an incredible feeling and I want to have that experience as a Chelsea player now.

The move gives you a chance to link up with Cesc Fabregas, a man you know well from both Barcelona and the Spanish national team. Did you speak to him before signing? You must be excited to be playing club football with him again…

Yes, I spoke to Cesc. We are very good friends. I knew I would feel at home here and that was one of the main reasons why I decided to join.

He’s a great player, he’s got brilliant vision and he links up really well with the other attacking players. I know we work well together on the pitch so I can’t wait to play with him again.

I have also played with Diego Costa and Cesar Azpilicueta before, for the national team, so I feel very comfortable here.

What qualities can you add to the team?

I am very fast. I do everything possible to win. I have helped Barcelona win titles and I want to do exactly the same thing at Chelsea, because ultimately we are all here to win things.

You are a versatile player. Do you have a preferred position in attack?

Wherever I’m needed. Sometimes I play on the right, sometimes on the left, but wherever I play I will give my best.

You’ve already won so much in your career and you said you want to win more titles here. Was the chance to experience a different football culture an important factor in your decision to come to Chelsea?

Absolutely. I have watched many Premier League games and they look very different to the Spanish game, particularly much faster. I really want to enjoy being here and playing in this league. It’s a new challenge and I can’t wait to get going.

hahahahaha, signed up to another forum just to say this?  Bet you were w**king yourself silly at the thought earlier this week.

not really, very happy we didn't sign him. he's not very good as you will see. if we had wanted him we would have got him, simple as that

I loved this bit. It interests me how keen Fabregas and now Pedro were to play under Mourinho. They were both rivals in the past and Mourinho's style of football is very different compared to Tika Taka yet Mourinho has played a big part in bringing them to Chelsea

Just shows how hugely respected Mourinho is in the footballing world. We are very lucky to have him

While you're all celebrating the arrival of Pedro spare a thought for me.

About 5 weeks ago I posted, "Let me be the first to welcome you to Chelsea, Pedro. In the words of our very own Zola, it's coming".

I waited 5 weeks for Pedro to arrive and I couldn't wait to find my old quote and quote myself and pretend I was in the know all the time and had some top secret insider info.

Then Gem went and locked the thread, which is a bit rotten.

I'd report her to the mods but I don't think that would do much good.

I don't know how to correctly merge threads.... my bad!

I've heard stories about Jose that every once in a while he contacts his personal psychic before big matches.

There was also story about him doing remote viewing with some other people who are into it.

Here's a weird one. In 2010 before the CL final against Bayern, he went to see a medicine man/witch doctor in Kenya for good fortune -- he ended up winning the treble. What does this indicate then?

Did he tell the witch doctor he was in love with you? And then the witch doctor he told you what to do? He said....?

I imagine the first line to Madonna's La Isla Bonita is being played on repeat over at Old Trafford tonight!

A good signing, which I think was needed. Won't expect him to get more than 10-12 goals in all competitions, but I think he'll find goals where we wouldn't without him in the team.

This is really good.

Fab has played lots with him, they can gel very quickly here.

It's going to create space for Hazard, this is always good.

He's not had gazillions of minutes in the past few years, he won't be tired.

And let's be honest, perfect timing.

One thing...welcome to the PL...let's hope Jose can turn him into the player we want.

Great to have him, maybe it's the result of last week's loss. I couldn't care less, it's worth it if it's true. I honestly think he will add another dimension to our game, both in attack and just keep the ball. It's surprising we only signed him for 4 years. If he has a good season, I'm sure he will get a contract extension, so why not do a 5 years deal?

Oh you wanted him, Ed Woodward flying out to Spain proves that. Give it up mate, even the majority of United fans can see that United messed up with this one. You could have signed him weeks ago, but you were fussy over the transfer fee. I guarantee that if you did sign him you wouldn't be saying he isn't very good.

You keep telling yourself that. Tell you what, I've even got an avatar for you:
