Alvaro Morata

Featured Replies

Morata has been moving around far too often, he needs to stay at one club for a number of years and get a lot of game time, I cant see him leaving again for a while

He's in Spain and got asked the the local whether he would come back, of course he said he could consider it. He's a smart man, knows the right things to say. I expect him to sign another extension before 2020

United fans trying to convince themselves at the start that they got the better striker gets funnier by the week, Morata is so much better in general play Lukaku will have to score atleast 20 more than him for it to even be debatable.

Comparing the two is just stupid. Morata is Morata and Lukaku is Lukaku. Both excellent strikers.

I think each striker went to the team that best suited them and their style of play. Both are going well at the moment but I don’t think they would have done as well if the transfers had of went the way everyone thought at the start of the window.

Morata is the better player. He may not score more goals than Lukaku, but his technique makes him the better footballer for any team like ours. I don't think Lukaku would have been able to make an assist like the second goal today, he hasn't got the ability. And I think that Morata would have also been the better forward player for Manure. Having said this, Lukaku looks better in Manure than with Everton and is a good striker, but I am happy with our choice and I would not change Morata for Lukaku.

There was a big chance Lukaku became our striker. If he was here he'd score and assist as he did yesterday against Newcastle. Great ball to Rashford's head who dropped it to Pogba to steer in.

I prefer Morata myself but I really wouldn't mind having Luk either.

I think so too however Lukaku's strenght and pace are pretty good assets in the Prem.

As someone said above, tough to compare the 2, they both went to the team best suited for their styles, but, if we must compare...

Romelu's strength is something to be reckoned with but pace, I think Morata has the edge.  His 2nd goal at Stoke comes to mind, just blew past the defense.

Lukaku's easier to mark. His all round play isn't what it should be despite the huge hours he clocked playing the game.

Morata's weakness is his tendency to go to ground but the West Brom game showed that he's improved on this aspect. If he continues like this, he'll approach Lewandowski's level. Finishing still needs work but that's probably due to inconsistent playing time.

I have been critical of Morata since he signed for us - mainly that run of games where he just kept falling on his arse and didn't look that bothered. But his class is starting to show in bundles and he's getting better by the game and forming a great relationship with Hazard, so will happily take any criticism back if he carries on like this.

This may not matter for anyone else, but I really love to see humility in our players. Morata and Hazard are great examples, no standing around with hands on hips without a smile showing off to the crowd (like Lukaku or Lacazette). Celebrate with the rest and always show excitement. I've said it before, Lukaku is too arrogant and I would take Morata even if he wasn't as good as he appears to be.

That said, Morata is showing himself to be a much better footballer anyway. He has the potential to be only our second fully rounded forward of the Abramovich era.

Lukaku thinks he#s much better than he is, his celebration where he just stands there with his arms out, like he's some sort of god, for scoring against a sh*t team, is frankly embarrassing to watch.

So true, the guy is a gimp.

Anyone else worried that Real may come back for him next year especially how they look to be crying out for a striker right now.

Would he go back a third time? He’s playing for a manager he respects and who showed him the faith and trust to make him first choice, not an impact sub.

He seems like a decent down to earth type and hopefully feels like he owes Conte something.

some poor misses from him yesterday. i know it didn't mean much at that point when he came on, but one on one with the keeper he hasn't put much confidence in me. he is fantastic with his head, but when the crosses dry up i hope he can go up a level and show a different aspect to his goal scoring.

Well, he showed again that he has quite a bit of technical ability to dribble, he also links up very well with other players, he opens up spaces and runs into great positions many times. Yesterday he missed some sitters, but the match by then felt like a training session, so there was little to none focus.

wasn't just that though, wasn't it in the utd game when he was one on one and messed it up by dithering? i don't doubt he's a clinical finisher on his day, but so far his decision making has been lacking a bit with the ball at his feet in front of goal.
