Secondly Italian teams won't pay that much for him. If we can raise it to 15m hat would be a really good deal on both sides, but lets see. Surprised some Lower Premier League teams or European sides don't take a punt.

Very very few clubs in Europe are in the position to even think about £20 million players . Football is quite simply broke. If you pop into most clubs forums they all think that what some call deadwood or in the case of Emerson a squad player is going to generate big money and in normal times maybe but not in the current market Historically clubs would recycle a chunk of their transfer income but the losses some have incurred mean that the vast bulk,k of that income stream will be used to pay down debt. For instance Inter Milan in their last reported trading year lost over €100 million so selling a player for €60 million to PSG only is the start of the story because that player cost €40 million less than 12 months ago so no doubt a chunk of the transfer fee remained unpaid add to that Inter would have to somehow buy out the buyback clause Inter insisted that the bulk of the €60 million was paid up front that would enable them to pay off RM and remove debt from their reported €400+ million debt also there would have been a chunk of any money used up in the normal costs associated with a transfer such agents fees If Inter were left with €15 million I would be surprised and that is the sum that Italian media suggest that Inters budget is for signing a replacement. Yet Arsenal supporters suggest that Inter are loaded and the offer of taking Bellerin on loan or only offering to pay €10 million is Inter taking the mick.
August 16, 20214 yr Lyon wants to take him on loan from what ive read today. Edited August 16, 20214 yr by DidierDrogbalala

August 16, 20214 yr But it could be much better. Like if they didn't extend their deals and we could finally get rid of them.

August 16, 20214 yr Well if they keep doing it might be because we make money out of it, pretty sure Marina wouldnt keep doing it if we lose money.

There are loads of players who will be out of contract at the end of this season, like 5-10 players. next season won't be the same for sure.
August 17, 20214 yr Apparently the contract extension would mean that a deal with Lyon would be an initial loan with an obligation to buy next year.
August 19, 20214 yr Tuchel is going to need counselling now that he can only name one left back on the bench LOL Good luck to Emerson. Hopefully he does well enough that some club will actually buy him 🙂

August 19, 20214 yr He'll just be back next summer after his loan, when they decide not to buy him and then we've still got him because we extended his contract. Same with Batshayui I would expect. It's all well and good extending them hoping for someone to buy them, but these clubs know why we do it, they just won't buy them and they'll keep loaning them instead.
August 19, 20214 yr This contract extension then on loan act is just pure madness, we will probably have Batman and Emerson on our books for another 10 seasons. Next thing you know Drinkwater will sign an extension, or has he?
August 20, 20214 yr I read that under Fifa rules, you can’t loan a player out who is in their final year of contract - hence the contract extension. Emerson is an odd one. Never seems to do anything wrong but 3 managers haven’t played him. Must be a reason.
August 20, 20214 yr Good stuff, hopefully winning the CL has tricked other teams into forgetting how terrible he is. Emerson is clearly the new Bosingwa - seems to thrive in any position that isn't his (on paper) "natural" one. Also both started in a European final that we somehow still managed to win.

Then someone can finally buy him Didn't help much being part of the Euro 2020 winning team this summer, so I doubt a Ligue 1 gong is going to hold much sway 🙂 The deadwood is basically unsellable. Sometimes you just have to write off a bad buy (buys) and move on ... seem Marina is not at that point yet ... and not willing to admit the recruitment mistakes.
August 20, 20214 yr Nothing wrong with put a player in reserve and ride out the last 12 months, or just an early release. Emerson isn't that bad a player, surprised we cant even sell hm for 1M, or a very expensive bottle of wine.
January 9, 20224 yr Personally I want him back, it's a move that makes sense. The winter market is always hit and miss like the summer but when you're desperate you risk being fleeced. We can always look at a more permanent option in the summer and if TT wants him back then so do I. It also makes sense since he knows the squad, the system and won the ucl with us, the rapport is there. It would also be nice since he was surplus to requirement and now has a chance for redemption to prove his worth.
January 9, 20224 yr Here is another example of Marina not negotiating a deal that is completely thought out fully. I get if you are loaning a player and receiving a loan fee for him you cannot simply have a recall clause with no penalties built in, but just in case something like this happens on loans with fees for players like an Emerson say Lyon paid us 3mill for the loan. You put a break/recall clause in the the deal that if you recall anytime in the winter window you return 2mill of the money, 66%. So you give up more than half the cash as the other side expected to keep him but knew there was a chance he could be called back. Instead we have this messing around where We are likely going to have to pay a larger fee than we recieved to get our own player back. It is ridiculous and makes us look foolish in our dealings.
January 9, 20224 yr People are harsh on Emerson, he's had some shockers but don't lump him in with the likes of Bakayoko. Am I the only one who remembers his good games? He started the 2019 final and got an assist and we won. Good enough to play and win the euro 2020 final. At his best he is better than Werner going forward on the wing.
January 9, 20224 yr Author Get him back! He’s a decent player, knows our squad and has fire in his belly. No need to delve into the January market and end up with a turd
