Perfect move for him ... almost guaranteed starter, still in London so no need to move house etc ... obviously not wired the same way Werner is in being prepared to accept a lower wage to actually PLAY football ... I guess we are stuck with him until his contract expires in 2024. Yeah the majority of these players have huge deals no other club will match, and they are paid far more than their skill is worth, and they would sooner earn the money than play, and ideally be loaned while getting their full pay. Werner was an exception to the rule.
August 17, 20223 yr Wh pulling out of the deal because of his wages apparently. Hard to believe that he's been here 4.5 years and only had 1 loan

Quite low in our squad, but probably near the top for other clubs, who aren't going to go all in at that level for a left back ...
August 18, 20223 yr Just realised he's not going to the World cup, so he's in no hurry to get game time to prove anything. Still, very poor for a professional player, it's a short career, make the most out of it instead of just collecting pay checks. It's not like he's at the end of the career, he will regret it when his contract is up and no decent teams wants him.
August 18, 20223 yr Greedy c**t. We're stuck with so many Bogardes who just want their paycheque and don't care about playing.
August 18, 20223 yr I mean... I'd be happy being paid £75k a week basically just to access a top-of-the-range gym and keep fit. Presumably West Ham noticed that he's rubbish. They already managed to get rid of one Masuaku; why on earth would they want another?
August 19, 20223 yr Looks like the move is back on as all parties try and come to a compromise: https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours-news/2022/8/19/23313015/west-ham-back-in-for-emerson-talks-resume-over-13m-move-reports
August 23, 20223 yr Blimey give it a while, he hasn't even collected his toothbrush yet! Not sure about deadwood, I'd of picked him over a good few others of our current squad!
August 23, 20223 yr Good move for all involved. Whilst he was never a nailed on starter, he was always a decent pro.

August 23, 20223 yr Cast your mind back and Emerson did have some quite decent games for us, but looks like Tommy never got to see those! but yea.... Not on Pulisic-type level....
August 23, 20223 yr He was never really that bad of a player, people talk like he's a Bakayoko LB edition. I dare say that if he played on the LW he would outperform Pulisic, Ziyech, CHO etc.
August 24, 20223 yr Always makes me laugh when people call players greedy for not lowering their wages to leave a club. Wonder how many of us would move jobs to earn less money. Footballers have a very short career, may as well make the most money as you can from it. Nevertheless, Emerson is gone now. Anyone know what the transfer fee was?

August 24, 20223 yr A rubbish defender, surprisingly competent further forward. He did score that goal against Atlético(?) in the CL run too. Also he looks a lot like a friend of mine that I used to go to games to which was always a source of amusement. Best of luck to him. £11m seems like a pretty decent fee. Good move for both sides I think (apart from West Ham but I don't care about them).
August 24, 20223 yr I quite like him. Never as bad as many people think, like many other players that have come and gone over the years he was never given a decent run of games where he could prove his worth. West Ham have picked up themselves a bargain player as they will start to see when he begins to play on a regular basis. You don't get into the Italian National team by being rubbish and a Brazilian. Look at the talent we have let slip through our fingers over the years because one manager or another didn't fancy them. I think Palmieri falls into that category.

Makes you wonder who scouted them and who decided to sign them. But I guess it’s just part of modern football. Dredging for players for strength in depth and perhaps fear of missing out. I suspect Anthony Gordon will join these ranks if we do sign him.
August 24, 20223 yr I think it was a bit rash to let him leave before TT had tried him out at centre-forward.
