Next Chelsea Manager

  1. 1. Here are the current favorites with Conte included. Jody Morris is in there as he is the current youth team manager, and promoting from within seems to have worked for Barca, so why not us?!

“They still have a manager (Conte), if they or even ADL admit to the Sarri approach, Conte’s legal team would have a field day. It’s a complicated situation.

Please remember, owners, agents and even players very rarely give truths in public interviews, especially this time of the year.”

Never thought of it but the club would have to be very careful about how they go about it as Conte’s legal team would go after them

Maurizio Sarri will join Chelsea on Monday with Gianfranco Zola as director of sport (football Italia )

Its coming!

I'd be ecstatic to have Zola back at the club, but I'm not sure DoF is the position for him, especially as (as far as I'm aware) he has zero experience in the role.

It's a real shame that Jody has left, as he could have been a great Assistant Manager, but I'm sure we'll see him (and Lamps) back at the club in the not so distant future.

Hope it does get announced Monday, because it’s dragging on and on and on and it feels like we’re going to have to do all our business in July, with the window closing August 9th, nightmare.

I'd be ecstatic to have Zola back at the club, but I'm not sure DoF is the position for him, especially as (as far as I'm aware) he has zero experience in the role.

How many DoF start their career's as a DoF with experience? You have to start somewhere, he's very well respected in the footballing world and will help immensely as a Blue. This notation of " he's not done it before so he won't be good" needs to go away. It's the same mentality I see around the club with youngers from fans and look how that turned out with a few we let go.

I think he should take over from Marina. He’s the nicest man in the world, people can’t say no to him.

"FC Barcelona announces that Robert Fernandez will not extend his contract as the football first team technical secretary which runs out on June 30 of this year," a statement read.

"The club would like to thank Robert Fernandez publicly for his commitment and dedication to FC Barcelona over the years and wishes him success in the future."

Hmm so in the end we bring in Luis Enrique?

Yes, the situation with Conte must be sorted out before there's an announcement on the new manager. I suspect the first official statement from the club will be " Antonio Conte has left the club by mutual consent. We wish to thank Antonio for his efforts...blah,blah, blah."

Emenalo was a US girls coach or something along those lines before he went on to become our technical director. It's always a risk to appoint someone for a job regardless of experience.

You're expressing doubts (rightly so imo) about Zola's lack of experience as DoF, and yet you don't build in any sort of caveat about Lampard coming to the club in a managerial/coaching role. Lampard has to learn the ropes and show he's a good manager. Equally, Morris has to show he can do at senior level what he has done so well at junior level.

This eagerness to catapult our (succesful) players who barely have gotten their coaching badges into the managerial seat never ceases to amaze me. Wishful thinking. Zola, Poyet, Wise, and I hesitently add Di Matteo to the list: great players, but "meh" at best as a manager in a senior competition like the EPL. They may be more suitable for lower or junior level though.

Charles or Ross?

Cuts both ways though. He'd presumably have a hard time saying no to others as well.

He is at Monaco and we don't look interested in replacing him. Reports suggest Marina took over his duties but it's anybodies guess what the structure is like at Chelsea right now.

Current midfielders:

Bakayoko - Awful first touch, likes to switch play with mixed success, runs from deep but often runs into blind alleys, positional awareness non existentoxic means he is often caught in no man's land and as such gives fouls away trying to catch up. Kinda brainless with good strength.

Kante - Freakishly good stamina and ability to cover lots of ground. Great positional awareness and tireless tackler. Good passing range and accuracy but plays it simple most times. Likes to drive forwards with the ball and is very good at keeping the ball under pressure and also taking people on.

Fabregas - Best passer in the team. Has the best vision and frequently makes through balls. Lofted through balls are his forte but is also very good at quick interlinking play with other attackers. Can't run and can't tackle and is often caught out when opposition press him.

Drinkwater - A bit slow but a good tackler and covers a decent amount of ground. Has good passing and good passing range. Tends not to play many adventurous passes and has a lower success rate when he does try through balls. Has decent positioning and is less of a liability defensively then Bakayoko and Fabregas.

Loftus-Cheek - Great dribbling and loves to drive the ball from deep. Makes good runs in and and round he box and has intelligent movement off the ball. Has very good passing range and is a very good passers of the ball. Can beat 3-4 men at a time and likes to link up with quick incisive one - twos. Has terrible shooting, doesn't run much and lacks intensity off the ball. Stands still a lot and is quite passive with his passing considering his ability. Good tackler and wins the ball often through taking up good positions defensively.

Barkley - I don't know.

Thank you. A midfielder with awful first touch can't play with Sarri, I think Bakayoko will go away.

At now, I think that the situation is:

Kante (Drinkwater) - new (new) - Fabregas (Loftus-Cheek)

Indeed, Sarri doesn't love players who drives the ball from deep, I think that you have to buy two-three midfielders.

In other sectors, the team is good, but I don't think Courtois is the perfect goalkeeper for him, Sarri is similar to Guardiola, he wants a goalkeeper good in passing, like Ederson.

You're in safe hands, nothing will happen on Monday.  I don’t know why the Napoli president is being such a c0ck (maybe he thinks he is a real president), surely he must know that once Ancelotti’s contract kicks in (1st July I am assuming) there is no much he can do to stop Sarri rescinding his contract.  I presume he is relying on the fact that Sarri would have to do that through the courts (either for restraint of trade or for constructive dismissal or both) and that would stop Sarri being able to get a job this summer.

• Chelsea will buy Maurizio Sarri out of his contract for €5m.

• Sarri has been told the deal should be resolved on Tuesday.

• Agreement not to activate clauses for Zielinski, Hysaj or Albiol.

(Sportitalia, Corriere del Mezzogiorno & others)

The Telegraph, The Guardian and The Independent all reporting similar and that they expect deal to be concluded next week.

Meaning same that has been said over the last few weeks LOL

So if Sarri signs on Tuesday that means tomorrow we should expect to hear the announcement of Conte's departure. I assume this has to be done first before a new coach is named.

Add the club is paying Conte 9~10m and you'd have the same article circulating for weeks now with Tuesdays being THE day
