Jorginho is.... (well now was) a Blue

Featured Replies

Just amazes me that at the age of 27 he already looks like he's running in treacle.

He makes the Ivanovic we saw in his last couple of seasons at Chelsea look like Usain Bolt.

Kovacic is better than him in his position, maybe not passing wise but Kovacic can get around the pitch and can actually tackle.

I agree. I have been asking for Kovacic to be given a go in that role for a while now.

This is one of those things I talk about when I say Sarri has to adjust his tactics for English football and that he can't just do things the way he did at Napoli. If he wants to play the registra role in England, then he needs somebody who is quick on their feet, has tight control of the football, somebody that can move well and somebody that can cope when pressured on the ball. Jorginho was never put under intense pressure at Napoli, because that is just how things are in Italy. In England, it's non stop, you don't have time to think, and I'm not sure he can handle it.

I'm not sure if Kovacic can do the job, but it's worth a try for a run of games.

I don't see it happening now though. Sarri has convinced himself that Jorginho has to play every game because he is the only one that can play there. I think it could have worked if Jorginho and Kovacic were rotated in that role, Kovacic's quick feet in tight situations could have made a big difference in these big games.

If Sarri were to go, I wonder what that would mean for Jorginho?

Depending on which manager comes in they're not necessarily going to continue to play 4-3-3 and even if they do they might go with a more conventional defensive midfielder at the base of the 3 man midfield rather than Jorginho.

Let's say Sarri goes Roma... Does he try to sign Jorginho again? Would any club be likely to match the £60m we paid for him last summer?

I would imagine so, doubt they could afford what we'd want though. Weren't we after that Cengiz Under apparently, would more lilely be him and £30m for Jorginho.

Singling him out is just tiresome now he actually had a good game compare to the rest of our midfield

It’s not really about singling him out, a lot of the team were below par. personally, I just don’t think he has the physicality in him for this league. It’s not his fault but he’s not strong and he’s not fast and when he’s marked out a game he doesn’t have an answer unfortunately. He’s just not cut out for the Prem in my opinion. If I’m proven wrong then great but it’s been almost an entire season and there hasn’t really been any significant improvement.

Just don't think he's that good, even his best ability passing is a level below the top passers in this league. As many pointed out, the Italian league just isn't that good, our worst midfielder is playing a like a world beater at Milan, one of the best midfielder over there clearly struggles in our team. Sure, he's going to be better for a better team, I argue most midfielders would look good with City or Barcalona.

That's strange didn't Ronaldo say recently he finds it harder to score in Italy than he did in Spain or England.Tactically one of the best leagues he has played in I remember him saying.

Yet Salah and Ronaldo's goal scoring numbers are much better outside of that league.

Lots of talk in the papers today that Neil Warnock is interested in taking him to Cardiff.

Right after being relegated he will be able to afford even his wages on loan? Lol

Did one of the all-time great marking jobs on Mata for the first goal.

There is no way, no way, that anyone could possibly convince me that the best configuration of our current squad involves Jorginho starting at the base of our midfield.

What are you talking about?  Jorginho was covering the gap between Rudiger and Azpi - that's why the ball had to be lifted over to get through, Mata was by Rudiger and should have been passed to Luiz.  Luiz is the one that lost him.

Disagree - Luiz is nowhere near him at any point. Check the next move:

Knowing Shaw is likely to put a low cross in, Luiz has to protect the six-yard box for a cut-back. Mata is Jorginho's man the whole time, and his reaction is... to stand in the exact same spot and point. Mata is then left completely unmarked by our penalty spot. Can you imagine that Kanté would have ever permitted this to happen if he were our deepest midfielder?

I think a few players could have done better for the goal but Jorginho found himself in no mans land. Didn't stay with Mata, doesn't press Pogba and doesn't see or close down Lukaku.

Certainly not solely at fault for the goal though.

They will always single him out simply because they don't like him, he was one of the few players who can hold their heads high as he had a really good game

A few were at fault for that goal ,but Alonso could of blocked that shot if he got his body in the way.
