Didn't we used to have some prat poster who always referred to Sarri as a tramp and never had a good word to say about him? Whatever happened to him?

February 22, 20206 yr Our best midfielder. By quite a distance. Have no idea why Lampard left him out in favour of the awful Jorginho-Kante pairing for so long but he really needs to play. Works really well with Jorginho as well, they bring out the best in each other. Edited February 22, 20206 yr by Sindre

That first half performance was a complete domination, the distribution was incredible as was the pressing. I think Kante's injury for the next few weeks will be a blessing in disguise I really do, I know how much of a c**t that makes me sound there but we'll wait and see. But having said that we could definitely do with him in the Bayern game for sure.
February 22, 20206 yr His celebration when we scored the first goal. Pure passion, something VAR has the potential to destroy.
February 22, 20206 yr Really need to dispel this myth i keep seeing rehashed that goes something like: “he’s good on the ball but doesn’t offer much in the final third, his decision-making is poor.” this couldn’t be wider of the mark. His decision-making is one of his key attributes. Has a great sense of when to play it safe and when to look for the killer ball. And he delivers killer balls in spades. before someone calls me a fanboy, I will say there are some legitimate gripes about Kovacic, but this ‘poor decision-making/ineffective in final third” thing is just not one of them.
February 22, 20206 yr Easily our best player today, easily our best player this season. Lampard really f**ked up by taking him out of the team, and we've less points as a consequence. This time round hopefully Frank has learned and he doesn't immediately bring back Kante when he's fit. Interestingly today, Kovacic played much deeper than Jorginho.

Yeah but he's no Essien

February 25, 20206 yr Again, good performance by him against Bayern. We lost, but he was unstoppable in his dribbles and passes. I think that we should build the midfield around him. Once Kante is back, we should move Kante back to CDM position, let Kovacic run the things around the pitch and play next to him someone who knows how to play Box to Box position, which would be perfect for RLC. The partnership between Kovacic and Jorginho is decent against lower teams because of their passing ability. But now when a top team like Bayern came we could see how difficult it was to keep possession only with two in midfield.
February 25, 20206 yr Big fan of both Jorginho and Kovacic but even I'll admit I don't like that partnership too much in the big games, particularly when we have the team we do against a side like Bayern, they were always going to struggle and be exposed defensively. I thought Kovacic was our best player though, a really good performance.
February 25, 20206 yr Listened to Pat Nevin post match on BBC 5 Live and he said he likes both Kovacic and Jorginho but that they were out-classed tonight, and that no Chelsea players would get in the Bayern side. He also said he had never seen Jorginho lose possession so much. I'd say that was an honest assessment from Pat. Decent players on their day Jorge and Kova, but have to agree with what Slojo keeps telling us....... neither are Michael Essien.

I actually think a bit unfair to put them in the same same category, Just. Kova a cut above both Jorginho and the rest of the team tonight and most games (Gol will be livid). Wouldn’t make the Bayern first team, though it’s not a given, and that is one formidable side (the main/only valid talking point). Also Kova is continually improving. He’ll get better still and one day, Just, you might even be forced to offer some unqualified praise 🙂
