We can but hope we see some wiser investment, maybe we even get a top level director of football or maybe Cech is promoted to that role.

Actually thinking about all the players over 19 years who have come and gone, i can come up with loads more failures than success's, and yet we won 17 majors.

Our scouts will need better that's for sure....looking in the lower leagues and other countries seeking bargain basement buys that we can turn into world class players.   They haven't done it so far so I'm not holding out too much hope.

Christ the state of some of the comments here 😂 obviously I’d rather Roman was going nowhere, but given the interest we’ve had I don’t understand the assumption or logic behind the thinking that people are going to invest near £3bn to take the club backwards, or that “we’re f**ked” as some people are claiming.

The successes were just that good.

It's never been about where he is from, it's got everything to do with being connected to one man. If it was anti-Russian racism, why is Marina not targeted, the highest profile female Russian in the UK ? Not a word about her.

What I was saying is due the opinion of to not wanting an American owner in general, read my comment again for context. I was trying to say that there could be a good American owner.

even with a net spend of 119M we still have big losses? I  cant understand...

Because for every Azpi, Mendy, Silva (bargains), we have had (and continue to have) multiple overpriced failures, which0 we pay big bucks for. Baka £30m, batsman £30m, drinks £30m, the big donkey £90m+, timo £40m, kepa £70m, Baba rahman £23m, Zappacosta £23m....  not to mention those who have left us.

Then Salaries. Our top 10 players alone earns combined £2m per week. £104 mill alone in wages per year just for 10 players.

Because she isn't popular. If she was popular, as in we see her name once a while on news - she'll be called to leave. But look at the Russians in every sport. They are all being told to F off, even though they have next to no involvement with the war.

I could be wrong but isn't it more down to the fact she's half Canadian?

From experience they will generally be more than happy with a Top 4 finish every year so they get the Champions League income but otherwise don't care all that much about winning the major titles.

This Todd Boehly who's making an offer for the club now is also known for financing big deals with "leveraged debt" which is basically the way Glazer did it at Manchester United. And basically using the proceeds from the asset (Chelsea FC in this case) to pay down the liabilities. So it's a great deal for Todd Boehly and it's a sh*t deal for Chelsea FC.

Suggestion on a skysports interview that the UK government may well block the sale, take it on them selves as they are not likely to trust Roman following through with donating the funds.

Now personally don't trust the UK government not to just pocket the 3bill for themselves.

Agree 100% - wouldn't trust the shifty bar stewards as far as I could throw them!

It's like these massive super yachts, they lose money, a £300m yacht has running costs of 10% or £30m per year, they don't care.

That’s the wrong way to think about it. In fact the value of chelsea has gone up and Abramovitch will make a profit. Others see that and that’s why they want to buy. The losses can maybe reduce taxes but thanks to tv the capital value increases. You probably have to keep winning for it to keep going up. Man City is way more valuable today than it was and the same may happen at Newcastle.

Some thoughts:

Given the political environment and the need to do a deal, expect to be done quickly.

Would expect key members of the Chelsea behind the scene group like Marina, Buck and Cexh to be kept on if only for 6 months, they need to understand what makes Chelsea so successful almost like buying goodwill in a normal small retail business.

The Mansour link is interesting, can just imagine the transfer gossip..... 'Salah to Chelsea cash play player swap, Pulsic in the frame'

More info on the Boehly-Wyss consortium here.

The focus would be on sustainability it says. Shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone but it's extremely hard for me to say how we can compete with for example Manchester City in that kind of a scenario.

It will be a change but unless you’re City or Newcastle, every club has to operate within their means.

Hopefully it’s more like Liverpool than Arsenal

Great to see NUFCs Amanda staveley trying to defend Roman, fair play lady

No, not really. She’s just trying to defend the Saudi Arabian owners early doors whilst attempting to curry favour with the football elite. Embarrassing.

Man City.....they will be small fry compared to the potential largesse of NUFC, this is Chelsea Mk3
