I don't jump pile on the criticism Marina often received here. However whoever made the choice to insist on adding years to players contracts before agreeing to loan them continually lumbered us with deadwood we are still stuck with.

And yet we never did that with Drinkwater. Why? Why did we not realize that Baka, Kenedy, Batman and whoever else were equally useless signings causing us to bleed more money? We would be shot of all of them bar Barkley and Sarr had we not done this. So whoever made that call made a very bad call.

I have to assume it made financial sense.

Let's say extending the contract cost us 2m extra for the year but we felt confident we could loan for 3m. Meaning a profit.

Barkley+Drinkwater less appealing to mainland European markets, less likely to go there, so the expected value of any loan was less than extending.

In part it was probably down to Marina feeling embarrassed about wasting Roman's money which lead to her feeling the need to squeeze every little drop of out complete flops like those mentioned and others.

I can only reiterate that the change of ownership came at the right time for our football club. If not a bit late.

The following in the summer of 2024

What an hall of fame that is. One thing I think is certain, these will all run to natural expiry

Anyone heard what’s happening to Roman’s money. Haven’t seen government patting themselves on the back regarding distributing the money.

The interest on the money must be big. I expect to see total transparency on this whole situation

I read that legally Chelsea had to as you can’t loan out a player who is in their last year of contract. Hence the constant extensions

If Todd finds buyers for them we could generate about 50m minimum for all of them (I'm not too optimistic though 😥)

I read on that ridiculous Football.London webpage that still spends 15 paragraphs of every article informing us all of the sanctions imposed on the club, taht we are trying to ararnge a sale of Bakayoko to AC Milan. This i found really confusing as i am sure thay they are trying to bomb off his loan because he can't get a game there either.

Maybe if we show enough interest in him returning Barsa will show up to gazump him from us….

One of the worst "Chelsea news" sites there is ... I stopped reading their drivel a long time ago !

They are lending it to Barcelona, repayable over the next 450 years

After weeks of wailing and complaining about the club's dismal failures in the transfer market, the praise and optimism are almost unsettling

Thank goodness the praise and optimism is over, having lasted for a week, and we've returned to our default position during the summer transfer window  Phew!

Media reports that the new owners have green lighted a plan to rebuild the bridge one stand at a time, allowing the stadium to remain open and in use 3 stands while 1 is rebuilt until all 4 sides are done.

Not sure what this means for attendance but apparently means each stand, and therefore the when completed stadium, would be state of the art.

This probably makes the most sense to be honest and is probably achieved on a quicker scale than knocking everything down and starting again. Above all I'm most glad that we will be staying on the same site.

Todd really backing TT it seems, though will make negotiations with James and Moint difficult with Kounde signed.

Young full international? All 3 check.

Viewed as one of the best in his position in respective league? All 3 check.

So if Kounde is on 250k a week, I expect Mase and James to want the same.

He's getting sh*t done. Given we've only really had a defined structure at boardroom level for about a month (and God knows how much work to make sure the club could keep even running the few months before that), to have three big transfers done already is impressive.

To be efficient at this chaotic of a time for the club bodes really well for the future.

Very fair point. That's the problem with benchmarks

No way Kounde is getting £250k, the Sun are reporting £106k a week, could be BS but still a substantial increase on his £69k current wage.

Are you seriously saying we have fannied about for a year now over a wage or £106k a week when we have Malang Sarr here on £120k? Seriously? The world has truly gone fking mad.
