I’m loving it TBH. The bitterness and envy has been hilarious. To be sending major shockwaves through the football world from 10th in the league is some achievement.

It's not going to happen, but imagine us winning the league, and the resentment present since Abramovich bought the club "they just threw a lot of money around and bought the title" In reality, we really have to climb the table now, otherwise it's the other ever present bitterness "you can't buy success". Anyway, fukc 'em all. Edited January 31, 20233 yr by Valerie
January 31, 20233 yr It's high risk, high reward with some of these contracts, so all we hope is they work out. Although we are buying quality, so that is what I'm pleased about. No more Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Batshuayi etc. Edited January 31, 20233 yr by enigma

January 31, 20233 yr As exciting as this window has been it currently feels like we have brought in 10 wingers and yet weakened the 1 position that we actually needed to strengthen (central midfield). That being said there is still the rest of the day before this window closes. We might sign another 2-3 wingers in that time 😉
January 31, 20233 yr Given how haywire this season actually is, it doesn't bother me that we're signing a sh*tload of players because there's no transitioning happening here anyway, it's been a chaos free for all. Probably the best time to do it as there is no balance that's being upset. I just hope the singings we're making are actually good and don't come to bite us in the ass.
January 31, 20233 yr I don't like the word 'pride'. And Chelsea are an international club, the PL is an international league and London is an international city. Anybody feel the same way as me?

Not gonna lie, I am uncomfortable with the money we have spunked. When you look at the amounts involved in the last two windows you would be excused for thinking we had signed the likes of Messi, Mbappe, Ronaldo, Hazard at their peek - not a load of players many haven't heard of. We're not alone of course and football today has no real resemblance to the game I grew up with, with obscene amounts of money being shelled out on run of the mill players. But I was hoping when we appointed Potter, that he would coach and bring on some of our quality academy players and blend them with a few quality signings - NOT have this scattergun approach of signing every Tom, Dick & Harry. Will be interesting to see if Potter IS the man to take this new look squad forward. Only time will tell but there is certainly a lot more pressure on him now to deliver after the massive outlay (and we still need a decent keeper.........!)
January 31, 20233 yr I was heartbroken when he sacked TT. I can no longer with good conscious hold any grudge against this man. He's shown actions speak louder than words and repeatedly demonstrated his intentions for this club. No one can question his desire to see us succeed after this window. Fair play Todd this is arguably the greatest window provided we actually get some results (trophies) in the next several years. Next season: Christopher Nkunku ~ Benoit Badiashile ~ Joao Felix ~ Mikhaylo Mudryk ~ Andrey Santos ~ Noni Madueke ~ Malo Gusto ~ Enzo Fernandez

Only time will tell but there is certainly a lot more pressure on him now to deliver after the massive outlay (and we still need a decent keeper.........!) We need new players, make no mistake. We've taken a big gamble singing so many in such a short period. Time will tell if that was a great decision or a bad one. Signing so many in one transfer window isn't the issue though, it's actually the best time to do it as there is no squad balance here whatsoever, it's a mess. I'm more talking about the repercussions down the line when we are lumbered with big contracts, a big negative net spend, and so on. We've gambled big, we just have to hope it's paid off. As for the manager, I think many people know my feelings on it. But there aren't really many managers out there right now to build a project on. I'm hoping someone good enough becomes available in the summer and is happy to take on a team full of talent. If not even half of these new signings we've made are good, we're in trouble. So far though, they look quite good, but very early doors.

Anybody feel the same way as me? This is a bit random. I assume you are referring to the tagline ‘pride of london’?, from a Marketing sense it ticks all the boxes and inadvertently ties into the Lion mascot. It was pretty smart how the club tapped into that, probably post-2012, since there are so many football clubs in the capital, nobody really used ‘London’ in 2nd phase branding, well at least no clubs with any stature. West Ham probably outstretched us by adding the word ‘london’ in their re-designed badge, squeezed in at the bottom but that was just tinpot behaviour.
February 1, 20233 yr “Chelsea have obviously won this transfer window. You have to applaud the ambition of the new ownership group. Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali's persistence key to signing Enzo Fernandez. As reported yesterday, Eghbali refused to take no for an answer. He just kept pushing. When Chelsea's owners first joined, I reported how Eghbali would be extremely hands on. He's across transfers, finances and strategy at the football club. Boehly, especially when interim sporting director, got all the limelight. But Eghbali has been vital this window.” @benjacobs Good work Eghbali.
February 1, 20233 yr Hats off to the new owners. They've gone in heavily into the market and got first options for the coach. And at the same time invested in future with quality youth. We will see if it works out as expected, but for the moment...
