I think this game gives us a sense of where we are... for starters City completely deserved it and could have been 3/4 today..

LB is a serious issue.. while I think once Rudi/Christensen are back Tomori will lose his place..Unless he cuts out the mistakes.. where we suffered in our play was the fact that Tomori complete lost confidence in the second half and stopped making forward passes.. Zouma is anyhow limited which meant out build up play was labored..

Having said that City got a lucky break with the equaliser and Mahrez capitalised on some poor defend influence..

finally Bats is not good enough to be the second striker...

We seriously need to calm down as fans we are playing arguably the best team in Europe when they are fit so after losing 6-0 last season this is a big change we are away to the champions take a breath people we have a young team growing and we will get better.

Best team in Europe? They're not even the best team in England right now.

I'm not so mad about this loss in isolation, but it is very worrying that we get turned over by every decent team we face.  If we lose against our top 4 rivals our lead will vanish in a flash.

So we've gone toe to toe against the champions in their own back yard and have only lost due to a couple of our own mistakes ? Fine margins ...

I've only followed the game on here, but by the sound of it was the midfield that made the key mistakes and not the defenders ... who are the ones getting all the stick ?

This game has showed that we can go toe to toe against the top teams. We are lacking a world class CB, consistent LB and a world class RW again.

Our attacking force was ineffective today because the ball is hogged by our CBs.

Harsh but you might be right, we should stick by Tomori though, so much potential there, sadly Rudiger is made out of glass, otherwise he's our starting CB. But unfortunately he's like our own Ledley King.

Zouma wasn't too bad tbh, he has improved massively, but I'm still not completely sold on him but I'll give credit where it's due.

Yeah I'll admit I was a bit harsh.

Tomori has a lot of potential and I think we will be a top class defender in the future my main quibble with him is his lack of concentration. He still has a lot of years to clean up that part of his game but I worry how it might affect his confidence if he keeps making mistakes like these. I dont want him to enter similar territory like Christensen who hasn't ever recovered ever since his form dipped.

Zouma has improved over the last few games but I dont trust him fully. I feel like his position should be filled by a commanding defender that can also control the line alongside defending. Atm our defence cant seem to hold a line and are always all over the place.

I think we need at least one centre-half and a full back that will replace azpi as he's getting older.

Key mistakes: Kova and Jorginho

Pep's tactics worked like a charm. He knew we had 2 CBs that aren't creative enough to build play or start the play so he played a ridiculous high line in the 2nd half and squeezed the game to just our half of the pitch

Don’t agree with the calls to spend. We are an inexperienced team. The only way young players get better is experience which means exposing them to exactly what happened today. As long as we are progressing and learning, which I think we are, then we should not  panic and resort to the bad only days.

No great surprise to come on after a defeat and find a stack of posts angrily reacting to us losing 8 0 to Colchester in the first round of the FA Cup.

A more humiliating result I've never seen! We should just torch the Bridge and open up a family bakery.

We played fairly well today away at City. Yes we lost, yes we could have played better and yes Kepa might not be all that but it was far from a terrible performance and we are not a top two team at the moment. Quite a bit off it. Expectations need to be honed in a bit.

We could do with not pissing around in possession in certain areas of the pitch quite as much and we clearly need to strengthen our striker options once the ban is lifted however that's a bed we made for ourselves.

I thought before the game that Mount should start...Now that we lost, I think we could have played Mount and gambled more so I didn't change my opinion. But still Man City took their chances, nutmeg shot and deflection shot...It's a fair loss, our team lacks experience to beat the best still.

Surprisingly you're the voice of reason lately.

Well am always the voice of reason sometimes my opinion isn't what most want to hear. I am fully behind this team and was wrong about Sarri staying glad he's gone am now happy with the team now an actually very very very Happy best thing to happen to us since Jose first term.

We will get better with a young manager and young team we can only go one way.

Onwards and upwards....COME ON CHELSEA!!!!!

The midfield errors just happened to be the costly ones on the night. Worst errors were Kepa’s imo.

We disagree most of the time but I love your attitude lately, apologise if that came off a bit arsey, I was just surprised.

Got to disagree, I think the reactions on here are pretty good tbh, you're always going to get a few who will go over the top, but most people are being rational. I've seen it a lot worse.

I didn’t really expect anything from today’s game but I feel we could of got something out of that game because City weren’t great.

When the 2 centre backs and the keeper have the ball I feel nervous, because all 3 of them look uncomfortable.

We had a a few below par performances but I thought Kante was excellent.

Need to bounce back with the next 2 matches at home to West Ham & Villa.

To be honest I only skimmed a few pages then posted so maybe I just hit a run of negative ones. Things like Kepa out, Tomori should be punted, yorkleyblue is a commie...that sort of stuff

?? that f**king tickled me

More on the errors tonight. Understandably we focus on the costly ones. But how often does a misplaced long ball to the striker results directly in a goal for the opposition? Not that often. I’m talking about Kova. He made a much riskier pass a few minutes before - a backheel that only just found jorginho in our box. I’m pretty sure if someone ran the probabilities, the latter type of error would result in a goal for the opposition more often than the former. Which brings me to Kepa. He literally gave the ball to Aguero, and Aguero hit the bar. 9/10 he scores that. Now, leaving aside the outcome, which was the more egregious error - Kova’s misplaced pass to our frontman, or Kepa giving the ball straight to Aguero?

Well am actually excited every game now it’s just so exciting being a Chelsea fan now and I love it.
We lost but I can see where we are heading and going so I love it...

Did not expect to win without putting a shift on.

Felt at ease that we were not to get a shameful  hiding like last year's 6/0

mostly a daw 2/2 would be reflecting the game.

`````though, City’s game management was far better  with expertise.
Always disappointing to lose but it's City away. We march on.
West Ham (h), Villa (h), Everton (a) and Bournemouth (h)
We have 4 very winnable games coming up.
And we need to win those games. And honestly, Wednesday’s match with Valencia is greater in importance than City today, as we are not catching Liverpool and no one else is either.
Come on you Chelsea!!
