What centre back is available that fits that criteria, bearing in mind we wouldnt spend massivley on a 28 or 29 year old with very little resale value?

I dont see any options that give us a massive upgrade on what we have already, there are some promising centre backs that could make the step up, but no real stand out players.

Upamecano, Kamara, Ruben Dias, Romagnoli, Tapsoba, Konate, Ake, Soyoncu, Demiral, Gabriel. All potentially good, but maybe Lamps wants to see how the current group develop, and see if any of the other options real make a solid case over the next 12 months.

With Haverz it just seems like we have an incredible opportunity with many of our rivals hamstrung financially by covid, and we could take advantage and sign one of hottest prospects in europe.

Skriniar would definitely make a big difference imo. Ruben Dias seems solid and out of the others you listed Upamecano and Romagnoli seems like the best choices. Rest are pretty meh and wouldnt impove much about us

How realistic is Skriniar though? No buy out clause, Inter already made money from Icardi, and would Conte really want to see him come here after everything that went down.

Seems a really hard deal to do, even though i do like his aggresion. Also difficult to gauge how well he would fit into the system since Inter play deeper, and usually with 3 at back, and the pace of the premier league compared to serie a, could also expose some weaknesses.

He's an overall better player, but again it's not Football Manager. It's about who suits the team better. Mason leads our press and does an awful lot to our play in general. He isn't easily discarded as you might suggest.

So if Mason suits the team better you can then see that there is no reason to sign Havertz at all. Both are 21 and both played tons of games before the break, unless you change the formation or simply play Mount deeper or bench Tammy there is no real way to convince Havertz to come because he obviously wants to be in the starting lineup.

You can't have it both ways, both of them are young players that want to play, none would be happy sitting on the bench, so if Havertz is seen as one of those generational players you can't just pay 90m and expect everyone to be ok with him sitting on the bench because Mount runs a lot without the ball...

I think we kind of came to the point where it's obvious that Havertz would walk in the starting lineup as he's overall better than Mount so...

Judging by what i've seen at Levekusen it will be Tammy more at threat from Havertz, he's gone up a level as a CF/false 9.

I know, he can play almost anything it seems...Werner-Havertz-Ziyech and Pulisic-Tammy-CHO as backup looks scary.

I didn't say I wanted it both ways. I think our midfield is fine for attacking midfielders. I don't think Havertz is quite as good as others are making out. His passing isn't particularly brilliant, his work off the ball is poor and many of his goals wouldn't be scored against PL opposition - I'll go as far as saying that there is nothing in Havertz's locker isn't in Ruben's.

I would prefer to spend 70-80m on our very shaky defence. That is what will make us title contenders. If we spent that money upgrading Kepa, Christensen, Emerson and Jorginho we have the goals already with Werner and Ziyech joining.

I also thought that we don't need another midfielder and I was initially only hoping that players like Havertz or Milinkovic-Savic don't sign for our rivals. But somehow the media is linking us with Havertz. Even after Werner is a 99% a done deal already. I don't think it's just them making up stories at this point.

It just so happens that I'm a huge fan of Ruben so I would keep him, but Mount even with all the running around and being the same age as Havertz doesn't strike me as someone that can become a mini version of Lampard himself, yet. Yes he can score and assist but Havertz is just better and I don't see where did you dig out this opinion that his passing isn't good since it's one of his best features. He has 1 league goal contribution (goal or assist) every 143 minutes which is very good for a 21 year old that is all around the pitch and he actually plays deeper than I expected so I'm sure you got the wrong impression of him;

I still don't understand it though, I mean Havertz would block Mount and RLC for sure and on top of it he very much loves to go to the right flank which would be occupied by Ziyech most of the time, the two of them would get in each others way;

This to me hints at the possible sale of Kante only and nothing else, because Kante's heatmap is probably red towards that same side like this one of Havertz from this season. And I'm against selling Kante.

So yes, Mount does press a lot better but overall Havertz does way more things much better than Mount.

The 70-80m would get us Chilwell...But a new keeper well lets not get carried away nobody is buying Kepa at this time. Same with selling Jorginho, he's is far too important for us at this time as we are still in transition, he is the biggest factor on the pitch for us playing attacking football for the first time, in a very long time so that idea to sell him just because holds no water.

Even if I don't understand why would we be linked to Havertz so much when we actually need a LB, you can't deny that Havertz is one of the best talents out there;

Well City are said to be in the running to try get him, so if they can I don't see why we can't.

Also Conte can't be that mad when he literally wanted to sign Alonso, Emerson and Moses a couple months ago! The only reason that he didn't was the asking price was too much otherwise he would have. I just think if we are to sort out our defensive problems, signing someone like Skriniar could have the same affect as when Liverpool signed Van Dijk. He pretty much completely changed Liverpool's defence and I think Skriniar could do the same.

Very different situation from "getting squad players from the club that sacked me" too "letting the club that sacked me sign my best players"

New reports say that Real Madrid wants him and that Kai would choose them over us. Bayer Leverkusen wants 100m euros at least.

Bayern Munich wants to prioritize Sane and won't go for Kai.

As long as we get one of Havertz or Sancho with the other going to a non-premier league team I couldn't care less tbh. If Havertz signs for Real, then I'm sure we will go all out for Sancho

This all feels a bit like 2012 for me. We signed hazard, Oscar, and Marin I think and had left footed mata already.

Hazard had the end product (20 goals for Lille that season)

Oscar looked like the next kaka and was having the most amazing articles wrote about him saying how he would probably surpass Hazard.

2020 is Werner, Havertz, Benrahma? And we already have left footed Ziyech.

Werner = end product, bags of potential, Hazard.

Havertz = huge potential being tipped for the top, Oscar.

Benrahma = lesser known diamond in the tough, cheap. Marin

manager 2012 - ex club legend Robbie

manager 2020 - ex club legend lampard

both seasons we had stale wingers and we went out and revamped the whole forward line bar the ST.

really hoping Havertz develops further than Oscar did here that’s for sure!

and hoping Werner hits the ground like Hazard or Alexis Sanchez first season at aresenal.

Sorry to dig this out but are you saying Jorginho is the main reason why we can play attacking football?  Nothing against him but I don’t buy this. Yes we pass around the ball in the middle of the park because that is one of his greatest strengths, but I also feel with defences sat deep we end up just passing it in front of the opposition’s defence.

Personally I am not comfortable with him at the base of our midfield, and most of the issues we have in defence is linked to him not protecting the defence which to be fair isn’t his forte. Bit of a segue you ask Juve fans this season and most would say even though they are passing around the ball more, they are hardly hurting the opposition. It is all a bit of side ways, back & forth, and not trying to hurt the opposition.

Concerning Havertz to Real, I've read that Real Madrid have other priorities and have signed an alternative already - it is unlikely their funds will stretch to KH this summer so they propose a deal like Nobby Keita where the transfer is agreed for next summer at a fixed fee with a deposit paid now and the player staying another year in Germany - but the deposit might well be in the form of a player or two,but this might not suit Leverkusen.

Sarri would never be able to transform the playstyle of the team without Jorgihno. Even now I read that some Juventus fans simply don't think that he's a good manager and he wasn't popular while he was here either, Jorginho made everything work for him here and stats do show it, you can't argue for real that Jorginho is weak at his position.

I think that you forget that our team is still a work in progress, Lampard is still due to complete his first season and Jorgihno is making his job easier as well, he has the most passes made into the final third this season so that's not really passing back and sideways.
