The ball to him was perfect, and if his touch landed the ball in front of him rather than to the side and slightly behind him, he would have had a simple side footed finish beyond Lloris.

Have to agree with Scott here. Strikers always seem to pick the wrong option. Low and hard past Lloris. He is not alone though: - Mount 1-1 vs Everton 6 yards out - hit it the only place Pickford could save - Odoi vs. Villa 1-1. Some say good save, but have to bury those - Odoi vs. BHA 2v1 clean thru but passed to the only place the defender could stop it. I don't buy the handball There are so many more. We are woeful finishers on some pretty simple chances. Edited January 7, 20224 yr by PhilH930
January 8, 20224 yr I really want it to work out with Werner but I’m slowly losing hope week by week. Sometimes he just looks like a sprinter we’re trying to convert into a professional footballer.

And I'm not buying this "yeah, but we didn't create any chances" excuse. A player with his pace, playing on the last man, should be able to make and take his own chances occasionally. But he has neither the technical ability, trickery or natural finishing instinct to do it. There is a good deal of comedy value in his first touch, so there's something to enjoy I suppose.

Agreed although, you'd have to have a superhumanly perfect first touch to get everything set up just nice for a side footed finish.

Agreed, he's not technically adept enough to really bring out his best in the PL. His physical abilities can only go so far. He's like the raw version of Salah, pure speed only.
January 18, 20224 yr On the stream clearly heard the Chelsea fans chanting ,'Timo, Timo'. Obviously they see things we do not always appreciate watching on streams. Didn't work out today they he did try.
January 18, 20224 yr Thought he looked really bright and stretched them. Definitely should of come on much earlier than he did.

January 21, 20224 yr Personally I would play Timo up top with Ziyech on the right and Mount on the left. Lukaku can come on later. Play Kovacic, Kante and Havertz in the middle and just go for a back four. At this rate the wingback system is actually making our attacking play worse off, I'm actually sick of it. No disrespect but I don't want to see Alonso or Dave anywhere near the starting line up. Edited January 21, 20224 yr by Malcolm9

Usually mahrez on the right and foden on the left. Both play as true winger where they stay wide all the time. If you want to follow city route. You need to play both Puli and cho

Ziyech and Havertz will be far more creative in a 433, Havertz played his best football when Frank used that formation.

Havertz was struggling playing as rw for lamp. His best game was when he played as a 10 behind a true no 9.

January 21, 20224 yr Last season it was all about "his movement is great and he's doing everything right, but he just can't score". Remember when we were stunned by his pace? Well, this season he's not even doing those things and I also think a part of the problem is him playing as a winger. But I doubt Tuchel is going to play him as a striker, simply because of 97 million Christian Benteke. Anyway, full support for Timo, no matter what happens. He always gives 110% and we should appreciate that. The ability is certainly there and he still has time to prove himself.
January 21, 20224 yr I'm surprised he hasn't had much time playing on the left because he looked quite good there last season. Apparently he suffered pretty badly when he caught Covid so that might account for his reduced playing time recently. Wouldn't mind seeing us experiment for a game or two with a front three of Werner - Havertz - Lukaku Wouldn't off a lot of natural width but could off some problems with the size and pace of the players.

February 5, 20224 yr Couldn't raise a level even against Plymouth. However, brilliant pass to allow Kai to set up the goal
February 5, 20224 yr That is Werner's ball every day of the week, what the hell is he doing? If that's the way you approach the game playing for Chelsea FC you have no business being here whatsoever.
