December 23, 20205 yr Arsenal just can’t keep losing. Statistically they have to win some time. Last season when we played Everton away they had been on a bad run but they beat us to then go on a decent run. Even this season Wolves had been on a poor run prior to beating us. Of the 3 games we have (Rectum, Villa and City) it is the Rectums I worry most we will lose to. Apologies for the pessimistic outlook. It would be very disappointing to lose to one of the worse Arsenal teams in decades. If we do win be sure to watch their silly tv channel - funny as f**k.

Statistics in football are only of interest and of relevance (although I use the latter qualification hesitantly) in hindsight. Those numbers have no predictory value whatsoever on future matches. Every match has 3 possible results, and the possibility of those results coming out are not influenced by earlier results. So "statistically" nothing "has to" happen at all.
December 23, 20205 yr If we can't beat that sorry state of a team now when can we beat them? Put yourselves in their shoes, they must be bricking it to play us after a succession of bad results. If anything we could put a final nail in Arteta's coffin as Arsenal manager as to be honest he's got no chance of turning that around - he will be sacked as they're sinking badly. I don't think we will hammer them, but I think we'll win 2-0.

December 23, 20205 yr With James and Chillwell likely out I say Lampard should switch to a 3-4-3 lineup. Put Kante as a holding midfielder and have Kovacic help out in the middle as Chelsea were having a lot of difficulty gets ng the ball out of the back after Chillwell went down the other day. The game changed once Kovacic came on. He is a far superior player than Emerson. Edited December 23, 20205 yr by TheGreatestGame

December 23, 20205 yr Indeed but we really struggle to beat Arsenal for some reason. We need a convincing win badly, to gain the mental advantage over them in future fixtures. I remember at one point everytime we played Arsenal it was almost like a guaranteed 3 points. Let’s get that back.

December 23, 20205 yr We need to take care of these bastards - pressure Luiz and Willian into mistakes. Frustrate Xhaka - if he is even eligible to play - into making stupid decisions and lash out. Let's send these losers into a proper relegation battle

We have made a habit over the last couple of seasons of bucking the trend when playing sides in awful form so the pessimist in me is not looking forward to this game. It's such a weird season with so many unexpected results. For us, before we had Mendy, Silva and Chilwell, I could see us losing every game but with the much improved defence and introduction of Ziyech, I could see us going on to win the PL! With the injuries and recent performances have since had a reality check and been brought back down to earth, so for this game it could go any number of ways. Haven't watched a lot of Arsenal and although their results and league position suggests they are dreadful, I have heard that they have played well at times. If they play well and Luiz and Willian raise their game to prove a point and we play anything like we did v Wolves and for large parts of the West Ham game, we could give Arsenal their first win in ages and keep Arteta in a job. But f**k it, let's have some positivity. We are better than them, despite the injuries and we MUST batter them! Come on Chelsea - make our Christmas!
December 23, 20205 yr Keep possession, no big risks when it comes to passing and we will win. It's impossible for Arsenal to stop us from having at least a few good chances to score so it's in our hands. Don't let them surprise us and this is another routine win.

December 23, 20205 yr We all know that Lamps will choose the 433. Mendy Azpi Thiago Zouma Emerson Kova Kante Mount Pulisic Tammy Werner
December 23, 20205 yr There's no logic to it, but I'm nervous about this match. In saying that, let's hope we destroy them and put them to the sword!
December 23, 20205 yr The worst thing we could do this game is show Arsenal any respect. Got to play against them like they're a relegation side. If we play against them like we did against Spurs and United we just invite unnecessary pressure and give them confidence. Just a normal back 4, get the attack on, press their defence, dominate possession, play it out from the back and break them down. We can do that, but our fullback situation doesn't help. Azpilicueta on his day can be solid, but it's Emerson I worry about, a complete liability and he's had a few shockers against Arsenal, two horrid games against them last season in the league.

Definitely, how many times have we gifted struggling teams points,we need to have more of a killer instinct. My only worry is we can be so slow out of the starting blocks that it encourages the opponent.

December 23, 20205 yr With the short term turnover between Arsenal and Villa we will need to decide which match to use Thiago Silva, and i think it may be Villa!
