TT will need to thank Spuds for the huge favour.

sh*t performance again against a lesser team.

Not capable of changing things when chasing a result.

Changes too late.

Not capable of motivating this lot.

Still, got lucky and got us top 4th. So well done.

Its not Tuchel’s fault, this team has a serious problem that was showing before Frank got sacked.

3 managers have failed to motivate this lot.. i think some players are just not good enough.. time and again our midfield and fwds let us down.. fwds are young and have to still do a journey.. but midfield needs an upgrade.. need a proper Midfield general enough of this regista and quarter back stuff..

Not sure his fans should be celebrating too much the way we wrapped up the league. We finished the league season very poorly and only qualified because one of our rivals bottled in more than us. Hopefully we will be looking at Tuchel in a much more positive light after next weekend. But up until now I am not totally convinced.

In the final lap didnt we beat Man City and our direct top 4 rivals Leicester and Westham?

Today we could have killed the game in the first half. Again our lack of killer instinct is costing us.

Agree. Some blame can be placed on TT but given he came in mid season with a hectic schedule there will have been little training time so for now it’ll be forgiven.

We need to sign a striker though.

Striker and a proper DM. That would give us the option to change a defender for another midfielder, or 3-5-2 etc.

Not that 3-5-2 again, it’s an awful formation unless you have TAA/Hakimi as a WB

Not a bad season for Kai though considering that he played pretty much all possible positions and had covid. I said at the half of the season his output is comparable to Mount and it really is but if he's going to officially be our striker next season then he must improve we need more goals from him.

shoutout to the folks at r/Chelsea for the last two images, this one doesnt show penalties tho.

to occupy an attacking position Mount needs to do better.. hopefully next season he steps up.. we need D.alli like numbers from him to challenge.. and a proper number 9 or werner to turn up next season..

Unless we win the champions league, I would hold off giving him a contract extension until January at least. Our results against weaker teams has given me doubt and I think we should wait and see how he does after summer transfer window, pre season and first half of the season.

It’s great that we compete against top teams really well but we also need to beat the likes of Villa etc if we want to be competing for the league title and honestly, I think our squad is probably a window away from being good enough.

James have been better then TAA and we will hopefully find better options to compete with Chillwell as well. With a proper DM we are not limited to 3-4-3 and 3-5-2 though, we can play 4-1-2-3 and alot of other formations to help improve our attack, without loosing our defensive strength.

Interesting stats;

- If you assume Werner is a Wing Forward, it’s an OK 1st season. If you compare with your Sterling’s & Mane who are having very poor seasons, he has been average also.

- Mount has a worse output in comparison with his 1st season, however an eye test shows he has been brilliant.

- All our wingers are sh*te!

- Pulisic has been bang average, & living off an half season

- Chiwell has had a decent 1st season.

- We have a big problem on the right. Both RBs are bang average IMO. Azpi you could give a pass becos he is aging, not convinced James is the long term solution.

- CHO interesting enough has had an OK in comparison to the other wingers output wise.

How has James been better than TAA? In modern football your fullbacks are creative outlets. Would you argue Wan Bissaka is a very good RB?

The best fullbacks should be both creative outlets and solid in defence. James is like a cross between TAA and Bissaka, just unlucky that he has Werner and the rest of our ineffective strikers trying to convert his crosses. It dosen't help when Tuchel puts him in the wrong positions either.

I actually think we are in a decent place, we can compete a win against the best, our defence is excellent, even when we lose, its not generally been the complete breakdowns we saw under sarri and Lampard. We dominate most games and we create alot of chances. Thanks to Lamps, we have have an abundance of young talent bought in, or from academy, with high potential, and who will likely improve over the next few seasons.

On the negative side, we dont have enough flat track bullies to put games to bed, we are very inconsistant with our final ball, and we have far too many players on our books.

Thankfully finishing 4th, and putting in a stellar performance in Europe, probably our most convincing ever, since we have bever been behind in a tie, or any group game, we now put ourselves in a great position to attract the level of player needed to take the club forward.

Hopefully we win next Saturday, and then find the right solutions over the summer.

True...We were so convincing against atleti and real...There was no luck involved whatsoever in those wins..

Let's hope TT do another tactical job on Pep at weekend.

And let's get a proper number 9 who can score 25 inside goals in a PL season...

All bow to King Tinkerman.

At least your disrespect is obvious.

Personally I don't like Tuchel any more than I liked Mourinho, Ancelotti, Conte or Lampard.  But I appreciate him coming in and salvaging our season. And for giving us the biggest European nights we have had for 8 years.

Taking over in late January when the entire season was turning into a real car-crash and we were 9th and turning everything around and make us finish in Top 4 as well as reaching the final of the FA Cup and the Champions League he deserves a massive amount of credit. Which relatively few are willing to give him in my view.

I dont understand how he left Azpi at RWB when we went down 1-0 or at all tbh.     If Azpi can't play CB in a back 3 then he should be on the bench. I'm sorry.  "Ohh Grealishs pace" blah blah blah. Every winger has more pace then him. And we are already setup in the most defensive of formation for coverage.

That little detail of switching James and Azpi doesn't seem to work for us, not the first game we lost like this.

But where have I said Tuchel doesn't deserve credit? That's a narrative you've created.

I've said our form in recent weeks is as bad as it was at points under Lampard. 3 wins in the last 4 games is testament to that... I'm not sure how that isn't debatable? Losses included the worst Arsenal side in living memory and 11th placed Aston Villa with literally nothing to play for.

Our form since the last international break is Played 15, Won 8, Drawn 2, Lost 5.

Total win percentage of 53% (loss percentage 33%)

Win percentage under Lampard was 52% (loss percentage 27%)

Main issue is not scoring enough and some of that isn’t Tuchel it’s mistakes in the final third.

But when you're consistently not scoring goals in open play and refusing to play your striker with the best goals per minutes played ratio...you have to take some responsibility for your misfiring forwards.

I will reserve my judgment until next season. TT needs to have a preseason and a transfer window.

Obviously what happens next Saturday will have a huge effect on how this season will be remembered, but he';s done enough to continue, regardless.

I think next Saturday's performance and result would probably have more bearing on whether he gets a contract extension over the summer. If we have a poor show in the final then I can see the club holding off to wait and see how we do the first half of next season.

Context matters.

In a few of those 15 games a draw was a terrific result. For example away to Real Madrid and a controlled loss to Porto but through over two games.

Not to mention that we faced Porto x2, Real Madrid x2, City x2, Leicester x2, Arsenal and West Ham away in that run. A rather murderous run you'd have to say. And that's before you bring in other contributing factors like two fit senior midfielders for the entirety for example.
