Wonder if UEFA will kick us, Real and City out of the CL and restore Dortmund, Porto and have RB and Atlanta play off to face Porto?

Maybe Sheff U will play Everton for the right to face the foxes in the FA cup final?

Leicester, West Ham and Everton going at it for the title?

Top 4 wont matter to us anymore now eh?

I don't understand the last part. Is Champions League something fans created? If not do you hate it?

I watched a document of history of the CL. When they decided to launch it created a same uproar than this new thing. It feels anything new is always bad without thinking about it for a second.

Not saying this Super League is a good thing just don't agree (for example) with Gary Nevilles rant. I heard zero intelligent analysis in it. Just about money and greed. It probably was genuine but he probably also made new friends among the so called common man. What ever that means...

How does this new league change the current situation? Do we see small clubs in (current) CL or mostly the same clubs year after year?

The fans didn't create anything, it's about caring about the competitions that makes it special, a new product with a new format needs time for us to take to if we even do at all.

The current way football is, is how we have experienced it for most our lives and what we are accustomed to warts and all, I love the fact that the CL draws are a roll of the dice and I had to wait nearly my whole life to finally play Real Madrid in a competitive match. Football as it is far from perfect, as you said only once in a blue moon do we get Leicester or Newcastle in the CL.

I'm not against change, but small changes along the way are more palatable like adding in VAR etc. changes the game enough that you can argue not all league titles are equal. But a massive change like the Super League changes the whole experience of football as we know it.

Sure the Super League is technically a superior product, having the best teams play each other only and having 0% fat, but everything else in football would be gone, giant killing in FA cups, bantering big clubs getting beat by smaller teams, us worrying about going away to Newcastle, everything about our current football culture would be obsolete immediately.

Basically if the superleague clubs are forced out, smaller clubs get in the PL and CL. Tv rights would probably be lower but once covid ends, it could potentially be better for the league at the best case scenario as teams don't have to worry about facing the giants that sucks up all the talents.

In the meanwhile, the clubs in the superleague are facing off against each other in a pointless merry-go-round. No promotions or relegations, if they introduce draft picks then prepare for a 10-0 tonking every time certain clubs can't see themselves being the champions

I am going to buck the trend, and say that I am not against it.  Frankly, I want what is in the best interest of Chelsea, and I really don't give 2 hoots if other clubs are perceived to "lose" out.  This is really no different to the current system - and essentially, the top teams will always prosper at the expense of "little" teams.

From a business perspective it makes sense. I cant think of other industries, where successful companies have to share money, that is being earned because of them, with less successful companies. Can you imagine Apple (for example) being told that they had to share their profit with less successful companies. This is essentially what is happening at the moment. Money in English football is so high, but thats only because of the global reach of a handful of teams. Why should those handful of teams have to lose financially due to a % of that money being shared with other clubs?

The current system is antiquated and a refresh of this sort is potentially a way to update it.

Utter rubbish. You sound like a 12 year old. By your reckoning it should be the Barca v Real 30 times a year in Abu Dhabi idea mentioned above. Why would Real and Barca want to share any of their revenue with us?

To be honest, football has been more entertainment industry than sport for a good while now. This just seems a natural progression. I’m not that arsed as I lose interest in this circus a little bit more year on year.

It meant so much to me in the 80’s and 90’s, but yesterday, an FA Cup semi and I just didn’t feel engaged. There was a time when I’d travel the length of the country for a pre-season friendly, but yesterday I missed the last half hour of the game as I went for my jab, and I felt more discomfort from the needle than I did missing the end of the game.

The beauty of this sport is that I can go up North for an away day at Newcastle, lose that game, come back home depressed and then on Monday morning I get battered by my Arsenal mates at work and viceversa, we beat Arsenal or Spurs and I am the king of the world and make fun of those f**kers. It's simple things like this that make me anxious before games and frankly imo domestic football tops European competitions, ok it's great to win the CL and beat the Spanish twats while doing it, but nothing tops seeing my club get the better of Arsenal and Spurs and winning domestic stuff their deludes fans only dream of. Ffs the last time Spurs won the league I think man did not even put foot on the moon yet, why the f**k do they want to break away from PL to begin with??? Or Arsenal??? It's soon to be two decades since not only they did not win the title, but were not even in a title race!!!

It's pure greed and seeing the backlash it provoked, I personally think it won't happen, but if it will then I give up on this sport and the only thing I will invest in it is some money from now and then on sports betting, just for fun. No more sentiments, tickets, merch etc.

I said nothing about wanting it to be Barca Vs Real 30 times a year. Out of interest, what did I say that makes you think I sound like a 12 year old?

Rather than insult, then why not argue and debate my points - For what its worth, I stand by my comment on earnings. I can think of no other industry, where successful companies would be forced to share a % of revenue with lower, less successful competitors. It is wrong in principle. Why should a club like Leyton Orient (for example), earn money off the name of Man City (for example)?

If the system wasn't broken, then clubs would not be seeking ways to fix it.

You raised some good points. But calling the system broken is a bit rich considering this euro superleague's chairman is Perez and the vice-chairman is Kroenke and Glazers.

Can't say I disagree with Neville.

But the thing is if you are one of the very few superteams that take the high ground here and refuse you would likely fall far behind the others quickly purely because of the economic aspect.

I just watched the longer version of this on Youtube. I couldn't help but laugh at the bit where he says "Tottenham, I'm not really bothered about them" 😆

As the famous saying goes, "Lads, it's tottenham"

What is broken currently that will be fixed by the new plan? This is all about making sure that all the money ends up in the hands of a few teams and owners. They want it to be an exclusive club to ensure they always make money. I hated seeing Chelsea get relegated twice. It was especially hard the second time when we lost in the playoffs. But ultimately promotion and relegation ensure that there is some diversity in the game, even if it is often the same teams that end up winning the big trophies.

Have you seen these signed documents? Has Chelsea football club come out and said anything. Like i said it is all speculation but  you are free to take it as fact

Uefa put out an official statement and even Boris had a thing to say now.

It'd be a PR nightmare for the club to announce it considering the backlash

"Arsenal aren't even in the CL, I just watched them and they're a shambles!" It's like he's trying to appeal to me specifically.

Apparently we would get 350 million euros just for signing up. That's before all the other revenue streams.

no mention yet of how these plans would impact the 2 cup competitions but I fear they'll be ditched by the Super League teams. if so, you'd enter a season hoping to win the new Super League, with just that one crack at a trophy. I think that's bad for the game, for the clubs and supporters too. we all want to see our club lift silverware. to reduce from 4 potential trophies each season to just 1 is madness.

it'd end up a bit like the NFL with no real interest until the play-offs and if your team doesn't make the play-offs the season is done

Well it's being backed by an American bank. They have tried for decades to make "soccer" a bigger thing in the US giving it an american friendly format is obviously one way of trying to achieve this. It's a very big market that they have been trying to tap into. Chelsea nearly always have a pre season tour out there every year.

Liverpool is owned by the same guys that own a baseball team and an NFL team, possibly even a basketball team. We all know of the links both Manchester clubs have out there.

To me this is a desperate attempt to tap into a market that has stubbornly not brought into it so far

That was one of my highlights too...broke up my own feelings of outrage. Even if this is all just a ploy to get a better deal for the champions league, it stinks.

I find it personally disgusting that chelsea football club has put its fans in the position of having to agree in something with the likes of spurs fans. this hurts the most for me we are being forced to unite with people I hate.

I'd most likely turn by back on the club if this went through with us involved! Anybody who thinks this idea, or ideas like it such as the 39th game should ever be concidered are a cancer that should be nowhere near football.

If we sign up for this atrocity, that’ll be the end of it for me.  No arguments, no compromise. Nigh on half a century on from my first time at the Bridge, If the Club in their “wisdom” do actually sign up for a European Super League, I’ll consider myself a former Chelsea supporter.
