Aston Villa v Chelsea (PL) Sun 23rd May 2021 16:00 GMT

Featured Replies

Well Liverpool have beaten Burnley so sadly we cannot give as many players as I would have liked minutes.

However Villa will want to put on a show for their fans so should be fairly attacking which means looking for pace to get at them and hoping our forwards can finish....

Mendy

Azpi

Silva

Rudiger

James

Jorginho

Kovacic

Chilwell

Mount

Werner

Pulisic

Need to go for the win and if we mess up, pray Spurs snatch a point at least at Leicester. At least Spurs have UEFA to play for now?

Can’t see Liverpool not winning against palace in front of their fans. Plus Eze is out.

Going to be a nervy Sunday

Sure, but it will be more enjoyable if we know our champs league place is there for next season. Just adds an additional level of need of the final.

To be honest, I’m nervous for most of our games these days! Will need a stiff drink on the 29th

Well given how Spurs played tonight they won't be arsed about winning and will want to drag us down to their level. Liverpool were lucky yet again so you can expect them to turn Palace over on Roy's farewell tour, so we just have to win our last game, no if and's or but's about it

Spurs will rather lose than play some f**king 3rd tier Europa Conference League. They are 3 behind WH who are playing at home against Soton. so if Spurs lose and Everton draw or Arsenal win they overtake Spurs and play this new competition which is hardly appealing. at least to Spurs I guess.

Id stick with almost the same team, even Pully (preferable over Zyech imo), but move Dave back into the 3 , Kova should start with Kante, let Jorginho have a day off before Portugal  !

Our head to head recently with them is excellent, wild cards for them - crowd & Grealish will be back & they looked good today brushing Spuds aside earlier.

Last year SFL was staring down a barrel facing Wolves, he won it and got another albeit curtailed chance, hopefully Tickle can do the same and better him with 3rd place.

I think it is better for us to have a pressure game. We have a whole week to prepare for that CL final. City is just strolling for a couple of games.

Villa has nothing to play for. What they have is spectators which could give something for them.

Exactly.  What the hell happened with the 6th game?

We had a goal wrongly ruled out and Delph scored from a fluke flick.

I saw a bit of Villa earlier in the season.

Watkins good turn of pace, clever runs and good finisher in the box.

McGinn don't really notice him until a set piece is cleared to the edge of the box where he is normally sitting ready to accurately shoot into the corners.

El Ghazi busy wide forward and has recently hit goal scoring form after looking like a poor finisher earlier in the season.

Then there is Grealish with his tricks and tendency to hog possession.

We should win yet need to be aware of the above.

To state the obvious only  if both Leicester and Liverpool win do we need to win. All we need to do is match the worst result of theirs.

that probably still means winning but we can do that. Looking forward to it. 1:00 am Sydney kick off.

Not suggesting you are saying this, but if our mindset has an ounce of relying on other teams we're in trouble.  Play our own game, win and forget the rest.  Let them fight over 4th.

If we're going in as sharpish as we did against Leicester, and I see no reason that we won't, I think we're pretty save. Should score at least twice though for the obligatory Ross Barkley screamer.

My belly tells me City will have a relaxed day on the pitch as Everton IMHO would love not to become 7th in the league. So that's crap regarding the CL final although we do have at least that match-sharpness going for us there. But that will also mean, in my opinion of course, that Tottenham will try everything to win so they make the EL instead of that quali-spot..or they lose like 0:20 to "beat" Everton on goal-difference. 😉

It is a Sham that we have to be preparing for this game. City have had an extra 10 days to plot our downfall. I blame those crackhead United supporters because we all know Liverpool and Leicester wouldn't have won those games in Old trafford if not for the postponement of the game.

I've noticed in the past that when you have too much time to prepare after a busy period you often don't start well in the next match.

It might work to our favour if City come in feeling too relaxed.
