Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!

You know the Tim Howard thing really annoys me. Given how this exploded he goes and then says something not too inflammatory (IMO) but must have known this would be aired by Howard. I seen an interview with Tuchel and this was put to him (a meeting Monday) and he seemed taken a back by it, almost like how do you know this ?

Reports coming out from insiders that Chelsea were ahead of everything and predicted this would happen, advising him not to do the interview before it happened.

But he did it anyway.

In fairness Tuchel had his poker face on, but to me that is a huge kick in the sweeneys to hear that from a reporter.

Genuinely, I don't know what Lukaku is or was thinking with this whole mess. If anything it taints him, it has lessened his market value (is this what he wants to force a move to Inter ?) clearly he now has a lot of repair work to do with the manager, players, club and the fans.

It beggars belief that he has no-one advising him so there must be some kind of plan in his head ? Is returning to Inter his ultimate goal ?

I'm delighted that he was dropped, and that the team seemingly are not in anyway in support of him. For me he's behaving like a first class bellend.

To see reports suggesting the players are supporting Tuchel and are unhappy with Lukaku is very reassuring.

This alleviates the fear of further unrest and friction in the dressing room.

So long as those reports are true indeed.

Also @coco I think we can be pretty sure between a club that likes to keep things behind closed doors and a big mouth player who will talk first, especially when his message to Howard included "I can say more" referring to after the meeting.

Lukaku just brought everything on himself and honestly, I can't understand what was the reason behind this stupid interview.

He could get us 3 points against Liverpool and bring us back to the title race but he found himself out of the squad. Tuchel has made the right decision, there is no player above the team and I was so happy that we almost made a comeback, played some good part of football without Lukaku but it can also show him that if he's really hungry and motivated to play for our shirt, then he can become a monster.

I'm disappointed with everything he said, I'd prefer us to get a proper striker and create of him a world class striker instead of convincing Lukaku to stay.

January is here, if he wants, he can go. That's my opinion, I've lost my trust in him.

Problem is I don't think there is anyone out there that would pay the money we did for him. Conte at tottenham is the only one I can see that would want to reunite with Lukaku that desperately and I don't see the board accepting that deal unless Kane is coming the other way or Spurs pay 100mil which they won't.

The ironic thing about this is in the last week he's been used exactly how I'd want him to be (ie when we need stat padding but left well away from the big game).

He could be an asset to any squad if he accepted his strengths and weaknesses but he wants a role he simply isn't good enough for and it makes him look like an idiot quite frankly.

He's got the ego of CR7 without the ability level to back it up.

It was awful for Lukaku to text an ongoing situation to someone who isn't a part of the club but wtf was Tim Howard's problem leaking that on tv?

Howard is looking for clout. A retired footballer turned pundit needs street cred and insider sources

Has he not released a solemn apology video were he pretends to acknowledge what a grade A knob he is and claims he’ll mend his terrible ways? Dragging it out a bit aren’t they?

I don't think he will. I've never heard of him apologizing to anyone for his behaviour.

Sadly that's what sports journalism has turned into now. Long gone are the days of actual sports journalists, it's now full of former players looking for the most clicks and likes.

Just now, Munkworth said:

I reckon he would but only after another meeting behind closed doors with some of Romans other associates.

Exactly, maybe after they meet on Roman's yacht out on the Carribeans.

Sports journalism has long gone into the toilets ever since players became C-list celebrities.

Apparently Newcastle don't want him and want Nunez from Benfica as their main striker.

Far as Spurs go there is no way a deal could be done there. He would be a cult hero after what he said about us so I imagine their fans would lap it up, but it would take an exchange or 2 to make it happen and no way Levy let's Kane be one of them. Aside from Son cannot think who else we would be willing to take.

Well, another one bites the dust for the riddance of the number 9 shirt curse, wonder who will eventually break it.

We sold him to Roma.
