That's probably it now for Chelsea player participation as far as England are concerned ... the media and the Twits will make sure that Trippier, Shaw, Saka, Grealish etc are all spoken about as the best thing since sliced bread, thus making it impossible for Southgate to pick James, Mount or Chilwell. At least they will all get a good rest .... 🙂

Well more rest for our German trio at least. Maybe Sweden can do a number on this England team.

A nice to scalp to take though boy that was close up to the 93rd minute.

When Muller had that break, I fully expected them to score and besiege the England penalty box.

Remember what I said about Mike Basset England Manager, Muller the architect of so many of our footballing downfalls fails.

Grealish's intro made a difference he ran and passes wide to Shaw (who up until then did not get that far up the pitch) and found Sterling for the goal.

The second was about Grealish neat ball for Kane to nod home.

Not sure what to make of our performance, largely disciplined yet not convincing.

Liked Stones, Pickford, Saka, Sterling and Grealish. 

Phillips good at times though a red card risk for me. 

Kane, a terrible match yet scores..................

 

This was a good result for us. Three of our starting squad will get some more resting time before the season. Our English Chelsea players are not going to get much/any playing time so they too get more rest. 

Obviously not thrilled with Germany losing, but I don’t mind the prospect of Werner, Havertz, Rudi, Kante, Zouma, and Giroud having some extra time off

Yea, it’s a number of things, various factors but they do love a northern soul, the hero Grealish, Maguire, Walker etc.. that kind of personality/character and the media follows through with it all. It’s cultural, traditional club bias, Southgate probably gets looked down upon when he visits cobham as a bang average figure in the game.

I was born in this country, but I just can’t bring myself to celebrate without ANY Chelsea representation, especially after the injustice of Mount’s situation. 

Happy with the win and we ended the game well once Grealish came on and shaw actually got forward. Not getting carried away though. We were pretty average for 70 minutes against a so-so German side and had to rely on some poor finishing from Werner (naturally) and muller.

Yeah man .. that’s why I think Chelsea players shouldn’t be selected .. probably that’s why England doesn’t win that much.. people will rather have the players from the club they support rather than England.

btw England should have been down to 10  in the first half.

sad part is I actually was supporting England but with the vitriol being driven towards mount.. finding it hard to do now.

Solid performance from England. Far from spectacular but the key stat is Germany Nil. Its always nice to see good football at tournaments, the ultimate contenders for the crown are usually the ones who make themselves hard to beat. Important now that we move onto the next game and focus on what is likely to be a difficult quarter final. Sweden are another bogey team so maybe Ukraine would be preferable.

If you don’t rate Mount, you clearly either  never seen him play and just spout utter bullocks or you don’t know sh*t about what you are watching. 

The hate and abuse he gets has to be down to him being a Chelsea player. If he played for United or Arsenal or Liverpool they would be all over him talking about how he is best young player in the world behind Haaland and Mbappe 

 

Cmon guys, i know we love seeing our players playing on the big stage but its not the end of the world, more rest for our players more risk for the other teams players to get injured. We know how good are our players who cares if Jenas or the other pundits only talk about Grealish and Saka. And England fans should be very optimistic for the future with 2 straight finals in major competitions.

Mount will be back, too good to leave out. Don't let the Twitter lot get you down. James still has a part to play too. Not sure about Chilwell though, don't understand what he has done wrong to lose his spot in the England team.

Let's be honest Grealish makes things happen, I don't think he effective all the time but it's working with him coming off the bench.

Sterling isn't at his 100% best but is getting the numbers, let's just see how far we can go.

The best England has played so far in the tournament was in the opening 20 minutes against Croatia, Mount was very good in that game. He was the best English player by far against Scotland, who defended deep. I won't be suprised if he starts next game, when he is able to train with  the team again.

Congrats to England. A win deserved over a Germany that has been struggling this Euro despite having a very good team. England played meh but was the better team, and that’s what is required. Having beaten Germany, the path to the final is rather easy for England. And at least we’ll enjoy a few more nights in the pub with a bit of an atmosphere. And hopefully, our Chelsea lads get a fully deserved rest as the hate towards them oozes from many England’s supporters.

Amen to that. Just stop picking out players. Let them play for Wales, Scotland or either Ireland instead.

The Grealish love in among the commentators is nauseating. How did it come to this? So inexplicable these things 😂

As far as I know, Mason nor Reece James can play for Wales, Scotland or Ireland. I don’t know Chilwell. But it is striking how much Billy Gilmour was appreciated by Scots v the support to Mount and James in England.
