Just like Burnely.

It is a definitely pen. You cant go through a players leg to kick the ball.

Not for me Silva has made contact and the ball has got away from him before he gets kicked. Very soft. Think had Taylor given it for Silva on AWB at the other end we would all be including it in his list of poor calls against us.

I wasn’t there so maybe the TV didn’t do the bridge justice but I didn’t think the fans were that great today either. Many seemed quiet/edgy for long periods.
I couldn’t get a ticket unfortunately to help. Need to try be more upbeat when the team are playing crap.

I think it's justified to be angry with how we bottled the 3 points in this game, could have easily been avoided with a proper lineup.

Agree. If it was a one off, I would be frustrated but nothing more, but it's another case of history repeating itself. Another poor team in poor form and we miss sitters and allow them to take points from us. It's something that has often happened since Hazard left. We are too soft on teams that are going through a tough period, we can't be like that if we want to win the league title.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were edgy when you look at our performances at the bridge this season. Scraping wins against Southampton and Zenit, winning on pens twice in the league cup, two draws and one defeat in the league. We haven't exactly been great at home so far this season.

We were lucky as well though on the pen. Shocked Taylor gave it, would be raging at him if he gave it to them as, imo, it is incredibly soft and not a pen.

Can’t really tell, I was in the shed lower and it’s not the best place to see a penalty in the MH end but, if Anthony F Taylor, Utd 3rd man, and the VAR gives it, it has to be as obvious as it gets.

We always are toothless in front of goal bar our wingbacks. James could not do much as he was well covered, and on the left we had an Alonso who did not make many defensive mistakes but was not his attacking self tonight. I don’t think we underrated them, we just played what was available and working well and the players underperformed against a pressing Utd. We should have beaten them easily if we’d taken our chances, but as usual we did not. It is annoying that players that perform well for a couple of games like CHO or Ziyech, then go on a slump two games later.

I can say that we were a bit quiet at times, but in general we sang more and louder than Utd. It’s got to be said that the one that got us singing louder was Anthony Taylor, half of the songs were directed at him.

I guess end of the day a good point since West ham lost.

7 point lead over them and Arsenal. Have to fancy our chances of getting third unless the festive slump is really bad.  Kept United 12 behind as well, helps our chances.

Are we playing for top 4 now?

3rd place imo is achievable. Stating ahead of City and Pool is not. Dont see those 2 dropping more than 7 points in the rest of the season.

This game showed how much we miss quality players such as Kante, Kova, Havertz, Mount (when in good form), even Lukaku.   CHO, RLC are OKish but nothing to shout about (however, still holding hope they will mature and develop), Ziyech and Timo are massive under-performers now on a consistent basis and have become a handicap for us.

Hopefully we will be busy this transfer window to sharpen up our game in final third.

Got the feeling this was one of those games that it just doesn't happen. Were a lot of individual errors and weren't quite at it going forward or at the back. The last 4 or 5 seasons we'd have lost a game like this so getting a draw is a sort of positive.

United played like they were fighting relegation and too their credit (annoyingly for us) were great at time wasting and preventing the game from getting any kind of flow.

On a personal note I hope we do not have many Sunday games. Much tougher for me to get to watch the game than on any other day.

Next two Wednesday and Saturday. Yes! Although facing much better sides than United...

Tuchel took way too long to make changes. Lukaku should have came on earlier. Same with Mount. The United goal did not surprise me. I saw it coming, due to the nature of football and thanks god Bissaka done that stupid challenge because I worried that after Sancho scored they were going to hit us again on the counter. Alonso looked very shaky, which did not surprise me. His lack of pace will be a target for opposition. Title race truly on again. Need to react against Watford in week. Good news for us is Sarr is most likely out because him up against Alonso would be a worry.

Several before the game were going on about how we are ok without Chilwell, how Alonso is a top class Wingback, how he better offensively than Chilwell etc etc.

There is a reason once Chilwell got over his early season issues he went back in and kept his place. He is so far ahead of Alonso in every department bar headers it is not even funny to compare them.

In a Conte system Alonso is fine, because he is simply asked to be a wingback. For TT they are not even traditional wingbacks they are more deeper lying wingers/creative midfielders. That is not Alonsos game just like it is not Dave's and why we look poor on their sides when they try to play that way.

It is not Alonsos fault we lost (yes I know we drew but it is a loss in basically every other way). We will miss Chilwell unless TT finds someone to take his place and offer us offensively what we lose without Ben, because Marcos cannot give us that.

Just come back to say I'm still pissed.

Plus I'm on the wagon so I cant even drown my sorrows...

Think a lot of us are feeling that way.

I am trying to feel grateful. This and Burnley have shown we are far too inconsistent against the also-rans of the league to be a title contenders, that our forward line is simply not good enough for it.

Is not the odd game where City made us look like a bunch of scrubs that determines titles, is games like this and Burnely where we play really well but as just so wasteful up top. Our forward line simply is not title winning material.

Wasn't really impressing before he was dropped. The team needs a leader someone to direct them on the pitch.

It seems to me that there isn't a clear strategy against teams that sit back & put everyone behind the ball.

Not to mention bad decision making. Rudiger could have won it for us at the death. CHO could have passed and won it the 2nd minute of play.

Very disappointing game anyway you look at it

Very frustrating day.

Haven't beaten United in the Premier League since Conte was coaching us, which is hard to reconcile as our record against them during the Ferguson years was excellent.

From my half glass full point of view, absolutely robbery and stealing that we didnt win the game. We were the better team from start to finish, for 1 stupid mistake ( unacceptable at this level), the usual poor finishing,  and superb GK performance ( too many times this season already). Just like the Burley game where we picked Barkley where there were clear better choices , picked Werner when he's clearly not ready, and just poor choice against a team defending deep. We had so much control of the game we just lost the directness and urgency, the goal should have came in the first 5 minutes, but never game until we were down. The attack on the left clearly suffered without Chiwell, that's something we have to live and get better with. I have never seen an United team playing like this, it's literally a rich man's Burnley. I suppose if they were playing like that in the last 5-6 games, they would have got a few more points, unlucky for us they showed up like this for the first time in a long time. Not going for the knee jerk reaction here, we played well, just happen 1 or 2 players had poor games, and we got punished for it. The best open chance fall to a defender in the last second, just one of those.

Could have won the game, played ok actually  thought ziyech has looked pretty good and keeping mount out. United set up very defensively and have learned from their city and puddle performances.
And we are coming off a big champions league game and it’s generally hard after that.
we are carrying a lot of injuries right now

should we have won? Of course

can we still won the title? Yep  still top, not even half way through  Are we better than puddle and Citeh? Probably not bit I don’t think we are worse than them either

Need , and have needed a mobile gut instinct striker and Lukaku isn’t that. I said it way back when the rumours first started he is not good enough/ the right sort of player for this team. Good for the Italian, Spanish leagues but not the prem.
