Lewis Baker is out for tomorrow as well with COVID.

Real shame for him, he was likely to play and we are expected to field mostly a youth and under 23 side to protect the other first team players. Trev is injured again from colliding with Silva, no Kante, probably no Kova.

TT bemoaned the need to use mostly under 23 players as he and we aim to win every game and competition. So he basically has written this game off against a well rested Brentford who had their last 2 games called off.

From TTs presser sounds like mainly the youth call ups are playing. With Baker out this could be out side:

Kepa

Brooking

Mbuyamba

Gilchrist

Rankin

Haigh

Hall

Simons

Vale

Wareham

Fiabema

Barkley, Sarr will play and I think Saul as well.

Yeah, I would think those three are almost a guarantee to start; Kepa as well. I figured Ziyech would play as well, but I just remembered that he picked up a knock. Trust in the kids

I Would be surprised to see more than 2/3 debuts to youth team players given. Barkley, Kepa, Sarr and Saul are all likely to play and I suspect Kovacic will be given minutes as well.

Brentford have said they’ll put out a “full team” out as they have no covid cases now. I imagine they will be at full strength. Can’t see us winning this one (which wouldn’t be the worst outcome if we’re honest)

By the sounds of it all of those players have served their full amount of quarantine, last Brentford game was 10 days ago, so provided they are fit they can use them so long as that is true and they have served the full 10 days.

In theory that means their first 11 vs our backups and under 23 team.

I give less of a sh*t about this than I would about a pre-season friendly. At least friendlies serve a purpose. A match that shouldn’t go ahead in a competition that nobody honestly gives a sh*t about. I’d be absolutely delighted if Tuchel fielded the entire youth team and spent the match watching Strictly Come Dancing on his iPad.

I’m always up for watching Chelsea on the telly. For some teams this current episode of  of Carry on Covid is a bonus. eg The once hapless Gooners, could be the Bs tomorrow. For us it’s beyond a joke really. Cant have any grumbling on here though under the circumstances the team finds itself in  if we get done. Good experience for the academy players nowt more probably.

Anyone have any knowledge of the U-23s that have been called up ?

Vale, Mvbuyamba we have heard a bit about, but most of the rest are unknown to me, which suggests that the good prospects in the Academy have either been sold or are on loan.

Expecting us to get battered tonight.

‘With so much uncertainty still around test results and injuries, the coaching staff ran the rule over several younger age group players in two sessions this week: 18-year-old centre-backs Josh Brooking and Alfie Gilchrist; Joe Haigh (18), a no.10; central midfielder Xavier Simons (18); Dion Rankine (19) and Lewis Hall (17), middlemen who can also play wing-back; and strikers Bryan Fiabema (18) and Jay Wareham (18).’

‘Just ahead, perhaps, are Dutch centre-half Xavier Mbuyamba (19) and versatile Harvey Vale (18) who, along with goalkeepers Lucas Bergstrom (19) and Teddy Sharman-Lowe (18), have already figured as unused subs this season.’

From the official club site.     Hope this helps.
