But he still didn't cost them the game, did he? Can't solely lay it at his door. Yes he had a gilt edged opportunity which the keeper saved. If Inter had won would people have been saying that Foden lost them the game.

He has proved he can be a very good player under the right guidance (Conte). But the problem is we don't know what version of Lukaku we will get. If he was to be injured at the moment, I'd say we'd look into other options. But I am afraid we are stuck with him for the season.

The CF market is not really like it used to be, the market as a whole is a mess and there is not a plethora of strikers you can choose from. And the decent ones are very expensive.

The way things look, I think the club have other targets in mind and the transfer of a high quality, expensive striker is the last on their list as long as the club still has one that cost 100M no longer than two years ago.

I believe that Havertz at CF is over under Pochettino and to be fair Broja not only comes from a bad injury, but he is not yet ready to lead the line in an important season. That leaves Nkunku maybe for the CF role? He is not a striker and I am sure Pochettino knows this too and from all the reports I've read, he'd like to give him a free role behind the striker.

My belief is they will get Lukaku back and give him a chance hoping Pochettino has the same impact on him as Conte had. This could turn into a good idea or a nightmare, there really is no in between.

I disagree, if you ask me, can Lukaku works for Pochettino. No question, Pochettino is known for his crazy physical training, this will force Lukaku to be in shape. Furthermore, I don't think Pochettino is known to be very conservative manager. 

However, clearly this is all water under the bridge. Lukaku doesn't want to be here, it is better for us to find a way to part way. 

 

 

It was reassuring to see an expensive Chelsea striker block a goal bound effort then miss an openish goal from 2 yards. Everything feels right in the world

I agree. Inter were playing for penalties from the off... only after City scored did they go on the attack

Not even sure Tuchel had that much to do with it to be honest. Wasn't it reported at the time that Tuchel merely wanted an elite striker, and he played no part in suggesting Lukaku's name to the board ? He was beaming in his first presser after the signing was announced. Whether he specifically name dropped him or told the board to find a certain "proven" striker is by the by really, he was clearly very happy with his arrival.

I don't think it is, the main Tuchel 'hate' stemmed because he wanted Lampard I felt.

Lots of delight and praise for the signing and for Rom's early performances on here too.. . ..I even fell into the trap , I blame it on believing the guff Tuchel was spouting about the guy .

Mind you , he's not the only waste of money at the club now or in the past , we seem to have a knack !

Seems to have a habit of wasting big chances in the big games. Look back the last 18 months, the CL final, World cup knock out games, 2 cup finals with us,  the CL 1/4 against Madrid last season. Conte did get a lot of goals out of him, but there's a reason Conte had a poor record in CL with him. If Conte gets a big job tomorrow, doubt he will be calling Chelsea for Lukaku.

Talking about Haaland. If anyone want to see what happens if we signed Haaland instead of Rom, just watch city last two games.

Don't believe that for a second. £100 million on one player and the manager has no input on whether he wants him or not? Not a chance.

If Pep continue playing this way then I can see it coming but we all know they will be more willing to take risk in league game.
