Dusan Vlahovic

Featured Replies

If Pochettino wants then I'm happy for us to sign him. I'm sure Pochettino has a plan and if this guy is in it so be it. Jackson has already shown himself to be good up top, who knows with his pace and technical skills, Pochettino could deploy him as a winger also and use this geezer as another number 9 option.

I see potential in this deal, if managed right this could add another dimension to our squad. Add in the fact Lukaku would be gone and its pretty decent.

After seeing Jackson in pre season I think Vlahovic would be back up striker, and he isn’t bad for a back up is he?

It was only a couple of years ago he was one of the biggest names when it comes to strikers. If we can get him anywhere near Fiorentina form it’s a huge win. If not, he’ll do as back up.

Jackson, Broja and Vlahovic as striker options, that’s good depth there. We can’t rely just on Broja during AFCON. I don’t want to see Nkunku as striker after past few years with Havertz!

Isn’t he on silly money at Juve though? I may just be plucking that from nowhere but I’m sure I saw he’s on north of £200k.

Cant see a world where he lowers it and can’t see us paying that for to a 2nd/3rd choice, probably not even a 1st.

Edit: Cycled back a page and wage was already mentioned. Just really don’t like this. I doubt Juve play football for a striker to thrive but just doesn’t feel like a natural fit with what we’ve gone for so far. Will be happily wrong though.

Just over 200kpw.

Pochettino also isn’t pushing for a new ST in the same way he is in midfield.

I’m at the point where I am in complete trust of Pochettino/Winstanley/Stewart, but I seriously think this bloke bang average.

Agree with this assessment, but from an FFP perspective it actually makes a lot of sense.

- With no transfer fee and even at the quoted wages, Vlahovic is considerably cheaper than Lukaku in FFP terms, saving us £100k/week

- It allows us to write off Lukaku against a massive transfer revenue and before the 70% cap comes into effect

- Assuming that Lukaku is in effect a dead asset (ie will not play and therefore will register 0 contributions), anything Vlahovic contributes is a net positive

- He fits the same archetype as Broja/Jackson so is theoretically a good tactical fit

So although I share your scepticism from a football perspective, in FFP terms it's probably a deal that makes a lot of sense.

He’s not a bad backup but he’s worth too much for a backup

But the reality is that Lukaku is on £100k/pw more and won't even be a back up. Its the additional fee that grinds. If it were a straight swap then fair dose. Even with it not being a Pochettino target it still trades Lukaku out so makes sense. But if we're paying another 40m+ on top, then that is questionable because it may well take funds away from a Kudus or an Olise.

This is a case of switching a turd to a stick. The turd is so smelly you are just happy to get a stick so it won't smell all the time.

If Vlahovic isn't a troublemaker we could use his as a backup and potentially sell him for 30-40m after a season.

The quoted wages are a bit of a trouble but they are less than Lukaku's.

In all seriousness Lukaku is a better player but he is a massive c**t and a manboy. Straight swap would do as we'd get rid of manboy and get a sellable asset who could end up being a good player.

No he isn't. I would take Vlahovic over Lukaku any day.

I don't think Vlahovic is as bad as some are making out on here. He was brilliant at Fiorentina. I do understand the concerns though, he hasn't been as good in the last year. I don't know if that is because of his own limitations or because of how Juventus play though.

I rate him higher than Broja and Lukaku, but I don't see him settling for 2nd best after Jackson and I think Jackson is a better fit for how we want to play.

Why are you saying there is no transfer fee involved? The idea of a “swap” is not allowed by UEFA, and both clubs recently got sanctioned by UEFA for the Pjanic-Arthur deal. Juve were also fined €20m & thrown out of Europe. Both deals would have to happen separately and it market/fair values. Juve want €65m for Vlahovic and we want €45m for Lukaku.

£56m & £220k/w for a backup forward is a very bad deal. My fear last month with the slow pace we were moving and the focus on Caicedo was come August we will start undoing all our good work and making dumb deals to just bodies in. Roberto Sanchez, Disasi & Vlahovic fall in that category. Pochettino doesn’t rotate players; look at Spurs history under him with forward players, so he will have to find a spot a £220k/w forward. Vlahovic is also not leaving Juve where he is a guaranteed starter to come and sit on the bench. We also don’t have the luxury of European football, so Jackson might end up riding the bench for the bulk of the season. There is also the angle that if the signing doesn’t work out we are stuck with him on a 6yr contract on fat wages. What then happens to the proposed Elye Wahi who we intend to park at Strasbourg?

If we were desperate for a forward player why not sign a Kudus who can fill multiple roles, or a short term option like Aspas, Fullkrug, Horta or even digging in the barrel Taremi. The market for quality No 9 is non existent and a smart well run club like Madrid signed a 33yr old Joselu on loan to replace Benzema in the short term while they continue assessing the market. A times it’s better to stand still and do nothing.

Those clubs weren't sanctioned because swap deals 'are not allowed'. It was due to some creative accounting.

There is zero evidence of us doing rash deals just to pump up the numbers. Vlahovic has been a target since the beginning of the window. Disasi is a reaction to Fofana's injury and potential Chalobah exit. And we still remain focused on Caicedo - which is evidence to the contrary.

Pochettino won't guarantee him a starting position so if he comes it will be on our terms. As mentioned by other posters, we would potentially be trading a useless asset with no resale value for something that at least can contribute, at less wages, and has the upside of a profit if he has a good run. Just look at how much the Saudis are offering for Osimhen.

There were those 'angles' for Werner and Havertz as well and we see what happened with them because they were young and had resale value.

Vlahovic prior to Juve was class, easily one of the best young strikers around. The guy is a much better striker than Morata, and pace wise he is similar to a certain Diego Costa, but with better feet.

I would take him in a heartbeat if it meant sending Lukaku to Juve.

He's a tall striker with a great left foot and can score from set pieces as well and he's just 23 years old. The question is, why would we need him? We kinda don't need him at all now that we have Jackson and Broja can come from the bench.

What? I thought it was a swap deal? Vlaho in exchange of manboy.

It's absolutely down to Allegri-ball.

I like Vlahovic but the problem is I don't want to risk getting a striker that' already low on confidence.

That's not the main problem if you ask me, I'm more concerned about Jackson, we should be building that attack around him and not to unsettle him with "competition". It's time to trust in our striker and there is no reason to bring in someone that will compete for the starting lineup, Broja is a good player to come in from the bench for us, not Vlahovic, he'll be unhappy pretty fast and that might affect the whole squad.

I prefer Lukaku in Italy over Vlahovic here if it means to not bother the balance of the squad.

Jackson and Vlahovic are very different strikers. Jackson is better in hold up play and linking, Vlahovic is pretty much just a finisher so I think it would be good to have different options agaisnt different oppositions.

I like Broja but he's just come off a serious long term injury. Unfortunately, he needs to go on loan to regain lost time and play consistently.

Mad isn't it.

We paid €113m for Lukaku, but he's been a failure and we are now prepared to accept around €40m, if you believe the figures quoted in the media.

They paid €82m for Vlahovic, who has also been a failure for them, but they still expect to get most of their money back, hence why they want Lukaku plus €40m.

It's arse about face if you ask me. The deal should be Vlahovic plus cash adjustment for Lukaku, especially as Lukaku matched Vlahovic's goal tally in Italy last season despite playing 1000 less minutes. Lukaku had 7 assists vs Vlahovic's 4 as well.

Literally the only thing in Vlahovic;'s favour is his age I guess, but that doesn't remotely tip the scales to what Juventus are proposing.

Hard pass !

Broja remains an unknown quantity. He showed potential at best before the injury. Whether he's ready to play as a back-up striker is another matter.
