I think its incredibly in the realm of possibility we finish outside the Top 4 next season.

Our 2nd half season has been atrocious and I have no faith we will complete the overhaul required to have us comfortably finish Top 4.

I have hopes from Kai, mount, Reece and Thiago.. trust they will keep us competitive..

but I do hope we stop this back 3 nonsense.. for 5 mins we played a back 4 and we’re creating a goal a minute.. before switching to a back 3 and conceding..

Yes it is a possibility, if we don’t improve. Since December we have looked very dodgy in the league.

We definitely need big changes, that's for sure. Go into next season with basically the same team and I don't see us getting top 4. The Champions League win gave us a huge bounce going into this season, we won't have that next season though, we are picking ourselves up from a very tough period.

Tuchel’s performance has been good in the league.. his style is too passive and no we end up drawing too many.. hopefully we change our style and be more agressive!!

We may have lost two cup finals this season, but our two draws against Liverpool in the league deprived them of the points that would have won them the league. I feel much better now.

And we gave city the full quota of 6 points.

Didn't watch the game, I was too busy enjoying Gerrard directly cost Liverpool a 3rd trophy when it looked like they couldn't lose it.

He's a natural loser, it's in his DNA.

But I have no idea why some people want Barkley out but to keep Pulisic,  they're both 2 sides to the same coin except Barkley is much more talented and isn't pathetically weak.  Both hold the ball too long, both are considered decent dribblers but spend most their time with their head down,  Both have never shown anything to suggest they have the talent to play at the top level but got hyped up solely based on their nationalities.  Both are considered bigger goal threats and more direct options than other players of similar positions yet neither have a decent record in front of goal.

Barkley though has actually managed to show he can perform at some level over the course of a season, is home grown and due to commercial reasons we could get a ridiculous fee for Pulisic relative to his talent level.

We're not going to get a decent fee for Ross and truthfully I'd be fine with Ross staying as a back up next year, I actually think he should have got more minutes this year than RLC did,  not sure why we didn't see more of Ross even if he's obviously not going to be a starter for us.

Either way massive overhaul needed this summer,  absolutely massive.  We have a lot of options but we need the ownership situation completed asap so we can start pursing some of them.

Glad to see the season over, looked good for the first 3 months then it’s been a see saw of a season, too many key players injured, too many individual mistakes, too many late goals conceded, too many home draws and too many solid looking opportunities gone begging match after match when it seemed most of us on here could of finished them off ! Seriously glad to get 3rd place and one can just about explain the points gap with City - injuries, Covid Christmas and Putin kicking it off in the Ukraine. But I can’t but suspect that even without those external events we’d of ended up in pretty much the same place.

Yup, we are a very conservative team. A lot of sideway pass, very little movement, very little midfield run, 4/5 players behind the ball all the time. Heck, even when we need a goal Tuchel kept using 3+1

We are a better cup team then a league team.

I agree but honestly don't blame Tuchel's style but the players we have. Other than Kovacic, Kante, Mount and James, none of our players ever try to run at defenders. They either try to dribble their way past them, pass to someone else or even worse lose the ball. Recruitment strategy moving forward needs to move away from the direction of players like Ziyech and Pulisic.

Defo will not start. May come on if we are up by a few goals. Also depends if Werner doesnt make it too as if he doesnt, room for him to come on. At same time other squad players may get a chance too like Barkley.

@axman2526I called it correctly. They call me STATS for a reason 😇

Only thing I gained from today's game is that, despite being under no pressure and against a poor team we still fail to entertain and attack with any consistency other than the constant recycling of possession.

Couldn't of put it better.
So you would wonder, what exactly he's going to change, if he persists with a back 3 come defensive 5, his ridiculous pressers about, lack of quality and direction, down to you squire, frankly I'm bored rigid watching it, and his mindset of we won't give up possession, saw him field the same culprits, with no sign of some youthful adventure, i hope Todd tells him up your game plan, or f**k off.....

Well, that was torture to watch. Scraping a win against mediocre opposition. Just about sums up our second half of the season.

Farewell to Rudiger and Azpi who will both be missed. And to Saul, Sarr, Barklay and Christensen, who won’t. Looking forward to some high-quality signings and a summer spending splurge. Should be an interesting summer!

Another pitch invasion.

And you won't hear a bad word on Sky or from Simon Jordan or Jim White in the morning...yet they will lambast others

Great day out with the Chels and finally a home win, though very scrappy and feeling like a friendly game. Great sending off for Rudi, nice to see Azpi in his last game, possibly, and a shame not have sent off Alonso, Puli, Werner etc in game time
