Do I agree with it? No, but also the flip side is their isn’t a better more protected professional contract in the world than a footballers and from a business (‘cos that’s what we are now a business not a football club) they will do all they can ‘legally’ do to worm out their side of the obligation.

But for Sterling, it's also a "business" , a very lucrative one , and as BlueCo would undoubtedly understand , no one voluntarily gives up a lucrative business just because it suits the organisation that's paying out that weekly fortune to you ..

Raheem ‘The Dream’ Sterling signed a contract put to him by BlueCo for x amount over x years. It wasn’t performance based, it wasn’t appearance based. He has every right in the world so long as he meets the ‘requirements’ (of which I presume it is to maintain match fitness and turn up to Cobham) to cash his paycheck every week.

It’s 100% BlueCo’s fault that they’re in this situation and it’s embarrassing how they’re trying to worm out of it .

Not sure about every fan but I would say most were happy with the signing at the time even if we did overpay on wages. He had just come off a pretty good season for City at the time so was a good acquisition.

It was the opposite for me, I never wanted him. The only thing he has been really good at is being a poacher, every other part of his game was inconsistent, even at his best. His last season at City wasn't a good one either. He had decent G/A but his overall performances was the worst it had ever been at that point. City fans had become frustrated with him and were very happy to sell.

Always found his City tenure massively overrated aswell tbh.

He was highly frustrating even for City fans, but he did have a knack for getting on the end of it and scored goals. Other than that I can see why Pep wanted him to go.

I thought at Liverpool he looked like a top prospect, and all in all he's had a good career, but I don't think he's ever been world class.

I don’t know what the PFA are getting involved for, he chose to stay collect £300+k a week. Have access to one of the best gyms in the world, train… have a massage and head home.

I knew his signing will eventually bite us in the bum when we were linked with him and made a comment to that effect. However, journalists asking stupid questions about his (and Disasi's) "situation" need to do one.

Sterling problem is mileage. He was 27 when he joined us but he started his career at 18.

If I was in his case and going nowhere - I'd file a case and see what happens - he's a United supporter isn't he?

Wouldn't surprise me if he's collateral damage in the bun fight between Clearlake and Boehly.

Huge wages are part and parcel of the Dodgers model. It was Boehly that gave Sterling the £325K, but I think he thought he was getting a better player for that money than he got. Clearlake have muscled in, flexed their power as majority owner, downsized the wages model and targeted Sterling as the first out the door. They probably thought they could just sell him easily to the Saudis, and haven't been able to do so. All this spin that sticking Sterling in the bomb squad was Maresca's idea ... well, I find that quite laughable ...

Sterling is the New Winston Bogarde. Sterling is not getting that salary anywhere else and Sterling joined Chelsea because he wants to live in London with his family. Charlton, QPR, Millwall, etc. He is not entirely out of options.

He is getting over a million a month for doing nothing. In his own mind he is most likely "retired". Sterling has had a fairly decent career. We never should have bought him. Pension him off - not sure what else the options could be.

Sterling has played 59 "90's" for us and has 19 goals and 15 assists, and all that in a team that finished 12th and 6th.

He's a long way off being in our list of worst signings.

No chance, 10 goals and 11 assists in his last season with us. Pedro Neto hasn't got that return in his entire career and he gets POTS shouts.

Got stupidly shut out by the owners instead of keeping him in the squad. Paid far too much but nowhere near our worst player/signing.
