Why would they want to plant the seed of a potential reunion toa) a player on extortionate wages with minimal to contributeandb) a terrible signing with an inflated ego of his own (lack of) abilityThey want them gone. Thats that.Do I agree with it? No, but also the flip side is their isn’t a better more protected professional contract in the world than a footballers and from a business (‘cos that’s what we are now a business not a football club) they will do all they can ‘legally’ do to worm out their side of the obligation. You're right about it being a " business" But for Sterling, it's also a "business" , a very lucrative one , and as BlueCo would undoubtedly understand , no one voluntarily gives up a lucrative business just because it suits the organisation that's paying out that weekly fortune to you ..

It wasn’t performance based, it wasn’t appearance based. He has every right in the world so long as he meets the ‘requirements’ (of which I presume it is to maintain match fitness and turn up to Cobham) to cash his paycheck every week. It’s 100% BlueCo’s fault that they’re in this situation and it’s embarrassing how they’re trying to worm out of it .
September 19, 2025Sep 19 Stan Collymore on TalkSport just now " Don't forget every Chelsea fan was very excited when they signed Sterling " No mate !Reminds me of when Johnathan Woodgate said at Villa v Liverpool few years ago." I think most football fans want Liverpool to win the title. Even most Villa fans would want Liverpool to win tonight " !!! NO Woodgate! Jesus , I used to like him ! It's like the old myth that fans of other clubs will always support an English club in a European final !! Absolutely wrong !

He had just come off a pretty good season for City at the time so was a good acquisition.

The only thing he has been really good at is being a poacher, every other part of his game was inconsistent, even at his best. His last season at City wasn't a good one either. He had decent G/A but his overall performances was the worst it had ever been at that point. City fans had become frustrated with him and were very happy to sell.

Other than that I can see why Pep wanted him to go. I thought at Liverpool he looked like a top prospect, and all in all he's had a good career, but I don't think he's ever been world class.
September 19, 2025Sep 19 I don’t know what the PFA are getting involved for, he chose to stay collect £300+k a week. Have access to one of the best gyms in the world, train… have a massage and head home.I wish someone would treat me that badly.
September 20, 2025Sep 20 I knew his signing will eventually bite us in the bum when we were linked with him and made a comment to that effect. However, journalists asking stupid questions about his (and Disasi's) "situation" need to do one.99.99% of the world's population would LOVE to be in their "situation" and Maresca's answer was spot on Edited September 20, 2025Sep 20 by TheSage

September 20, 2025Sep 20 If I was in his case and going nowhere - I'd file a case and see what happens - he's a United supporter isn't he?
November 11, 2025Nov 11 Forgetting football and the bollox surrounding it, what sort of scum bucket pond life breaks into a man's home with his wife and children present. It's c**ts like these that cancer should be reserved for.I get that Sterling is a millionaire and lives in a gated community in Surrey, so should be able to have the top level of security, but you can't even attack these fckers in your own home and teach them a lesson without getting done yourself.Disgraceful Edited November 11, 2025Nov 11 by WhiteWall
November 11, 2025Nov 11 Pretty sure that was the biggest reason Di Maria f**ked off from Manchester. The whole experience was traumatizing.
November 12, 2025Nov 12 Raheem....Do you know how many violent crimes and house break ins happen in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia? Or the UAE for that matter.... Nebil Fekir, Quincy Promes, George Weah, Andriy Yarmolenko, Paco Alcácer, Miralem Pjanic - all players who have played or play in the UAE league. We all know the big names in Saudi... Come to the Gulf Raheem.... life is good, crime is low. Wages are high, the sun is shining. Set Chelsea free...I mean, set yourself free....
January 20Jan 20 This bloke is a leech, he doesn’t care about playing football, how can he turn down Napoli? He is hiding behind moving his family, Bollox he can leave them here and fly back after games (its not like he cant afford it), but no he only wants a London club, NO ONE WANTS YOU

He signed a contract with BlueCo CFC LDN for x years at x amount a week. He’s entitled to that. Just because the Hedge fund has changed its mind and doesn’t want him anymore, that’s their issue not his.Find it bizarre to have a go at the player when it’s the club forcing him out.

Huge wages are part and parcel of the Dodgers model. It was Boehly that gave Sterling the £325K, but I think he thought he was getting a better player for that money than he got. Clearlake have muscled in, flexed their power as majority owner, downsized the wages model and targeted Sterling as the first out the door. They probably thought they could just sell him easily to the Saudis, and haven't been able to do so. All this spin that sticking Sterling in the bomb squad was Maresca's idea ... well, I find that quite laughable ...
January 20Jan 20 Sterling is the New Winston Bogarde. Sterling is not getting that salary anywhere else and Sterling joined Chelsea because he wants to live in London with his family. Charlton, QPR, Millwall, etc. He is not entirely out of options.

In his own mind he is most likely "retired". Sterling has had a fairly decent career. We never should have bought him. Pension him off - not sure what else the options could be.
January 20Jan 20 Up there amongst the worst signings in our clubs history and that is a fair old list these days.

Pedro Neto hasn't got that return in his entire career and he gets POTS shouts. Got stupidly shut out by the owners instead of keeping him in the squad. Paid far too much but nowhere near our worst player/signing.
