Predictions for the season

You don't seriously rate him above Aubameyang, do you?

I don’t know. Honest answer. I replied and then had my doubts. I’d put him up there, I think he will genuinely nab a 25 goal season this year. He’s hitting a peak and Arsenal seem to be creating chances and finding their feet.

Pre season is different to the real thing. Last year they were 17th in terms of big chances created and there's a reason Arteta has been compared to Pulis.

Aubameyang has been around a 2 in 3 striker for every manager he's had since 2015, apart from Arteta.

No-one tipping Newcastle to muscle into the mix ?

This was the table for the second half of last season

Yeah interesting shout. I like Eddie Howe and think he’ll do ok. They haven’t been as lavish as I thought they would be - I was expecting Neymar type signings from them. They’ve bought solid players.

I’m not convinced Eddie Howe can coach a team defensively which is where I think he might fall down.

Oh you know me, my dear @axman2526. The ever optimistic when it comes to football, otherwise my pessimistic worldview will take over me completely.

But you never truly know in football... wheels do come off at wrong times, it's a WC year and crazy things can happen at a tournament, players get injured or mentally fatigued (Hey, Jorgi will get a full month rest)... and if Newcastle managed the 3rd best record in 2nd half of the season, nitpicking 1-0 victories with a 25:20 GD and a backline of Dubravka, Burn, Lascelles, Targett and Trippier, then why couldn't we do even better with Koulibaly, Thiago and ???

What I do know is this year will once again be filled with my blatant idiotic optimism and your profetic pessimism. Last season one of them or maybe their combo at least contributed to Madrid pipping the scum to the CL title and preventing a sports calamity, so let's both do our best this year, shall we?

There’s always a team that implodes or under performs. United haven’t made any signings so they could be in with a shout but maybe ot will be us?

Chilwell in form, to playing Azpilicueta, Alonso

Just to this point. From watching our pre-season I think it's obvious for most that Chilwell will need a lot of time to get back into last years form. It's not unusual that you need at least a season to find your groove again after such an injury so expectations on him for this season should be tempered. And with that said we have a massive problem at LWB because Alonso will give us the same problems he's always given us and we will be nowhere near as good as we were when we were flying last season.

Same goes for James at RWB really. Tuchel even said last season that his body can't handle playing at RWB for very long every time. So what do we do when he's either out injured (which will happen this season too) or needs rest? We have no one even remotely close to his quality to step in when he's out there either.

Defence is still a mess as well as our attack as well.

Fifth or sixth is my prediction right now.

Prediction

  1. Liverpool
  2. Manchester City
  3. Tottenham Hotspur
  4. Chelsea
  5. Arsenal
  6. Manchester United
  7. Newcastle United
  8. Leicester City
  9. West Ham United
  10. Aston Villa
  11. Wolves
  12. Brighton & Hove Albion
  13. Crystal Palace
  14. Brentford
  15. Everton
  16. Nottingham Forest
  17. Leeds United
  18. Fulham
  19. Southampton
  20. Bournemouth

I normally wait until the first 7 or 8 matches are complete, got 3 of the top four right and CFC placed right the last 4 seasons.

Doing at this stage with players getting back to fitness and late transfers does not work for me.

Liverpool look good again after seeing the Charity shield.

Too hard to predict right now, I'll see how we look once the transfer window closes. I'm expecting a difficult start though, nothing like how we started last season.

You reckon we could challenge if we end up with Fofana, Cucurella and potentially another midfielder or forward?

Could get interesting if Kante and Kova somehow manage to stay fit for the majority of the season. Or is this all just wishful thinking?

I want to wait till the transfer window ends before the predictions but for now...***

1. Man City

2. Liverpool

3. Chelsea

4. Man U./ Spurs

5. Spurs/ Man U

6. Arse

18. Leeds

19.Forest

20. Fulham

Man u, Spurs and arse...my gut is playing up about those 3.

-Man u. Have been annoyingly too quiet.

-Even with the conte factor, Spurs ain't Chels.

-And Idk if Jesus is the last piece of the puzzle for arse.

But something isn't sitting right when I think of table positions for those 3. I think one of them may surprise me and I'm leaning towards Man u.

I’ve been trying to figure out what Arsenal, Spurs and United are going to be. Could see either, or both, Arsenal and Spurs finishing top 4. Especially if we dick about the beginning of our season playing players that shouldn’t be here.

I think City or Liverpool “slip up” this season and don’t finish 1, 2. So here it goes:

1. Chelsea

2. City

3. Liverpool

4. Contes people

5. Arsenal

6. Probably United but f**k them so Wolves?

okay not Wolves, probably Newcastle or West Ham
