Carney Chukwuemeka

Probably one of the two or a formation change? I think Gallagher could do a job at 10. He is the most dangerous player outside the box from our squad. He really has a shot on him. His vision and ability to control ball is another thing all together.

I agree, he has an eye for a goal. Whether he can link up play as neatly as Carney/Nkunku remains to be seen. But he's great at crashing into the box and getting on the end of loose balls.

I don't expect a change in system, at least not yet. Though I do trust Poch to adapt if needed, it's clear this 4231 is his preference, and when it's worked so far it's been a joy to watch.

If you wanted an option for that spot that's completely out of left field though, CHO is still on the books 👀

All clubs seem to suffer from it. Everton have 8 out right now, Villa 9 and Sheffield United 10 for example.

I think it is the modern boots. Certainly don't remember this level of injuries from the 70s and 80s eras.

Suspect its the pitches and blade boots. go back to studs and mud...

Books yes, available for the squad no. Pochettino has his players and CHO is not in the group. He made it pretty clear there are those who want to be there and those who seek a move away from the club.

I also think it is the conditioning. The athletes that we see now use explosive speed allied to high levels of agility in turning and sideways movement which is hard enough. Develop these athletes to also carry minimal fat levels with muscle strength and conditioning creates a leanness and athletic speed that the joints and ligaments just cannot deal with. This is my opinion only, but there must be something in it.

You can improve the strength and resistance of a muscle but you can do very little with ligaments and cartileges. They're gristle and elastic, there will be a snapping point.

It used to be hamstrings, calf muscles and achilles tendons. Explosive speed. Strength and conditoning coaches have helped to reduce these muscle injuries to now be replaced with joint and ligament injuries.

Of course the pitches (half grass half weave, watered like a skating rink) the carpet slipper boots that offer little if any support, and the overall speed and intensity of the game are all contributing factors. But the footballing athletes we see nowadays are completely different from those of the 80's and 90's. In fact they are totally different from the make up of players from 15 years ago.

I wonder if rugby has similar issues, because again the modern day rugby athlete is completly different. These used to be huge, hairy ar$ed brutes gouging lumps out of each other with a couple of flying wingers. Now they are all built like brisk sh*thouses still but they move like 100m runners. I wonder if the types of injuries they suffer have evolved as well.

Twitter physios suggesting its 6 months out.

Broja has been unavailable for what? 9 months including rehab.

Everything about how Carney was after his injury reminds me of that same injury to Broja. My guess is his season is done.

I am of course, wholly unqualified to comment, but it didn't look like a hugely serious one to me. When you do your ACL you don't play on for 10 minutes. Hopefully it's just a bit of a twisted knee or something and be a few weeks.

Collisions remain the major cause of rugby injuries. Unsurprisingly. Hence, particularly, the attempts to restrict the height of the tackle. Owen Farrell, obviously, is exempt from these restrictions.

Hope you're right Zeta.

Chillicon is starting to find his stride. Don't want to lose him.

I personally would wait for a statement from the club, you know, because there are people there who can actually assess the situation, but if Twatter physios say so, then :panicbutton:

I tend to use them as a resources sparingly. They were right with Nkunku being out until the new year.

Impact injuries caused by lorries driving 30 mph into one another... But they play with studs and mud...

I give up. I have no hope that this season is going to be anything other than terrible. This many injuries after just 2 games is absurd and if the first two performances are anything to go by, then it doesn't seem like much has changed at all. Unlike last season, I don't think we will get enough points early on and I am now resigning myself to the fact that this club is well on it's way to a dark period in it's history. Absolutely nothing is going right for us and we just can't break out of the cycle. No club can be in turmoil this long before it catches up with them and lands them in serious trouble, and we have been like this since Roman Abramovich was sanctioned.

Blimey! I never thought that @axman2526’s doom and gloom were possible to beat but you really have surpassed it by a mile!

Can you blame me? Literally nothing is going right for us. Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. We are at the point where people are saying who will get injured next in every match thread, that is how sure everybody is that we will get an injury.

Also, the stats don't lie, we are currently one of the worst teams in the league since the year started. People can say we have too much talent in the squad for it to get too bad, but we don't because they always get injured and the majority of them are a bunch of kids who just don't have the experience at this level to handle it.

I had a partial MCL, was out for a couple of months, but I had no pros helping me or facilities. Mine was from a fat lad tripping up tackling me and putting his shoulder into my knee, felt horribly empty.

Worst pain was having physio to get rid of scat tissue, was basically torture, just rubbing it for what fell like an hour.
