Brought in a couple of years ago, and look unlikely to make it into our first team. So, will we be able to sell them on? If so, will it be for loss or profit when all has been accounted (loan fees, wages over contract etc.)? Yes let's see. We certainly need to start getting some bodies out the door. They could start with some of the keepers.

It really enforces the view the board is very incompetend and maybe worse our manager does nothing against it. They bought too many players again... and what does it do with team morale if teammates are excluded for non sporting reasons. There is no wiggle room apperently, either you are in or out. Just baffling really... Agreed. It is the inevitable result of overstocking with players. Not so noticeable when half the first team is injured like season. But the squad is totally bloated when most are fit, and unfortunately in many cases it is bloated with a lot of average players brought in expensively. In the case of Chalobah, they will sell him as they can get 100% profit, versus taking a massive loss on Badiashile etc. Same logic with Gallagher. But as long as they continue to gamble on all these prospects, its going to be an ongoing issue.

I suppose we'll find out the full details in time. Thing is these players need to play in order to increase their value - given we didn't get any of them for bargain prices. If we just hoard them and let them rot in the reserves they'll be worth less than what we've paid. Our owners and sporting directors don't appear to have figured this out yet.

A good loan can at least ensure we get our money back on a player. Apparently, we are keen to include a clause with obligation to buy, but Leicester would prefer the option vs. obligation. Fofana had a fairly decent loan at Burnley. If he does something similar on his next loan we ought to at least break even, if not make a small profit. On the other hand a bad loan could really set things back. Look at Andre Santos after the disaster of the Forest loan.

He is still only 20 mind you, and Barca & Palace are admirers. Would sell him to Palace for a low fee & attach a sell on & buy back clause.
August 11, 20241 yr I don't think this is really much of a surprise. Given his injury and time out it was always going to be an uphill battle to make the squad.
August 11, 20241 yr Getting rid of him will really annoy me. He's clearly got the talent, knows the league, he's probably rusty, but I would pick him over anybody whose name I don't even know.

I believe it has been said he has a 40mill minimum fee release clause. See if one of these interested clubs trigger it. Could only see a PL side do it, maybe Palace or West Ham.
August 11, 20241 yr Unless there's another Chelsea out there, hard to see anyone triggers his release clause this summer. Again, if it does happen, a win for the owners group without kicking a ball.
August 16, 20241 yr I think there is still time for one more UK summer riot. If the Yanks sell Carney it is time to say enough is enough. Overturn every Chevrolet and Tesla in Chelsea. Torch every McDonalds. Tell Beckham and Elton John, stop jetting backwards and forwards it's LA or Romford... f**kin chose you c*unts.

Absolutely Val, he's had a long injury, he's young, and he showed real promise for us, despite only playing a couple of PL games for Villa. These comments reflect some opinions of him in the West Ham game where he picked up that injury. On 20/08/2023 at 23:25, ozboy said: As expected once given more game time he looks a right player, not just a good touch but also plenty of strength. Injury is a worry, so fingers crossed. Losing both him and Nkunku would really stuff us up. On 20/08/2023 at 20:36, just said: Missed him when he was injured and went off. Was the main link between midfield and Jackson. Think he could be a very important player for us. His touch and control is superb. We should keep him , it'll be a ludicrous decision to sell him. August 18, 20241 yr I'd have to agree with what Maresca is getting at here. The perfect scenario would be us giving Chuks the (extensive) gametime he needs right now to see him develop into a top player for us. Sadly, that is a thoroughly unrealistic scenario in the real world given so many players are ahead of him in the pecking order for a first 11 spot. Therefore, for the good of the player himself, he needs to leave.
August 18, 20241 yr Surely Carney is one for the 'loan' where he can get those 30-35 games and we can see how good or bad he really is. I am voting he will turn out good. That said, do we have room for them all? If all the players turn out to be good, where do we play them all? None of them are old.

One way or another he needs to leave because he has Palmer, Felix and Nkunku all ahead of him in his position, probably Dewsbury-Hall as well.

I think the club tried selling him this summer; the £40m release clause in his contract somehow got revealed but they got no offers. No one is paying that amount for a player with 4 league in 2 seasons and less than 600mins. They are now trying to send him out on loan with the intention that if he gets enough game time and does well enough, someone would pay the £40m.
August 19, 20241 yr I reckon Chukwuemeka would contribute as much as #10 for us as all the players who are supposedly "ahead" of him.

Therefore he would be the perfect candidate for a strong European loan, but we can't because we have used up those spots on tactical loans for players that we have no idea whether they are even good enough to be top flight professionals let alone elite standard.
August 19, 20241 yr Another player Maresca is openly telling the media he doesn't want around. Really growing into the role of the puppet quite well so far. Chukwuemeka, Chilwell, Chalobah, Gallagher, yeah, lets just get rid of all of the players the fans are fond of. I hear Sterling and Madueke could possibly go too. 6 homegrown English players possibly going out, the majority better for the club than what we currently have. This guy has done next to nothing as a manager and with evrry passing day looks more of a mouthpiece puppet with Clearlake pulling the strings. He is starting to piss me off already. Losing Chucky would be insane.
August 19, 20241 yr The stumbling block for teams buying Chukwuemeka is that is on a big wage. I think it is 125k a week. Palace are leading the charge to sign him. He is such a good player imho. A loan to buy option. AC Milan are apparently interested. Barcelona are also interested.
