I’m still mad. So I’m looking at the replay, and I see Coulibaly and Reese on the goal line, both on the side of the goal where the goal was scored.   So how the hell did the ball make it past both of them?  We really are a snake bitten side at times.

Had it not touched James it probably had gone wide.

Still fuming about the blatant corruption from that bald nonce, with any competent referee that is a comfortable win I thought we were fantastic and dominated the game start to finish, if we can play like that throughout the season we will be right up there. UTC and f**k Tottenham and Anthony Taylor.

Just remembered that Dean was the VAR who disallowed a goal at the Bridge v Southampton for a foul over 20 seconds - and several phases - before the goal was scored.

"Listening to VAR official Mike Dean, referee Martin Atkinson walked over to the monitor to check for a foul in the build-up and ruled that Cesar Azpilicueta had tripped Kyle Walker-Peters some 20 seconds before Werner’s goal."

An engrossing game, and partly for the wrong reasons. Chelsea actually surpassed expectations. I thought our pressing game was excellent and with the new signings, we look a more cohesive unit - especially Cucurella, who brings greater energy and aggression.

Sterling brings real quality up-front, especially movement, work-rate and link-up play. It's clear to see.

Mendy worries me these days. He doesn't look as confident, and despite Richarlison standing there, I expected him to get a hand on it. Højbjerg didn't exactly catch it cleanly. Also, Kante being out for a while will hurt us. It's a real shame he tends to now struggle with fitness.

That aside, lots of positives to be had. If we play with the same intensity, Leeds won't stand a chance.

Even Dermot Gallagher, who sticks up for refs and VAR as best he can, could not defend the VAR for the hair pull:

"INCIDENT: Should VAR have given Cristian Romero a red card for his hair pull on Marc Cucurella ahead of Spurs' equaliser?

VERDICT: The VAR should have intervened - it was a red card and a free-kick to Chelsea.

DERMOT SAYS: I think the VAR should intervene. I'm not sure the referee has seen it, I think he looks down but I think he does it instinctively. I think he watches the flight of the ball. He does look down, but I think it has already happened. The VAR has the perfect look. As soon as I saw it, I said, 'I think he is going to get a red card here, he's pulled him down by the hair'. I anticipated the VAR sending Anthony Taylor to the screen. I know for a fact that if Anthony had been sent to the screen, he would have given a red card and a free-kick to Chelsea."

Taken from Sky sports.

After sleeping on it, yes Taylor is a useless ref not an elite FIFA one as presented, but the real disservice to the club is that of the VAR duties performed by Mike Dean. For the first goal the foul in the build up is sadly irrelevant, but the Spuds player (Richarilson) offside  and in Mendy's line of sight is not , VAR should have intervened, Dean didn't, goal stood. VAR remit is also to flag missed violent conduct , Taylor missed the hair pulling yet Dean did nothing to urge him to go look at the pitch side monitor.

Because TT has called out Taylor in person he's now in for a massive fine and possibly more. We love football but hate VAR as used in the EPL. UEFA & FIFA who all of us have issue with time to time do know how to utilize it better though.

Mike Dean is to blame, Taylor although he has history with us cannot be the villain of the piece this time.

p.s. like the way the media (& some posters on here) built up Spuds all week prior to KO - the narrative being based upon round 1 they would turn us over bigtime yesterday, as soon as the whistle blew for 90 + it was "Tottenham come out better of the 2 teams .....they have showed they can fight their way back from a losing position vs CFC when last year they lost 4 times to CFC"   LOL LOL LOL

Ridiculous comment.

If we're going to depend solely on VAR it is a waste of time employing and training referees to be on the pitch.

Taylor had a clear unobstructed view of Cucurella getting physically abused 5 yards away if he can't see or give that he has no business being on the football pitch.

Mike Dean and Var should intervene but there's no excusing baldys lack of basic ability to referee a football match not just in the big incidents but how his cards only apply to one club.

Take your blue tinted glasses off mate, Taylor is a ref who is many teams 'nemesis' including Palace for one. I don't rate him, he's a FIFA elite ref as well somehow. But there's no denying VAR is here to stay in the EPL and it is only used for a limited number of situations that refs encounter per the officiating teams current guidelines. Put yourself in the refs place, he like us is a human, you've never erred at work ? Well like players they make mistakes, you could argue he makes more when officiating CFC, e.g. I was at Wembley when we lost the FA Cup final to Arse w Conte, he was to blame IMO but VAR like yesterday did nothing to correct his bad on pitch officiating.

So as a CFC fan I must admit I think AT is a right billy hunt but there's no denying the role of the VAR ref in yesterday's proceedings as well.

They work as a team, they are in communication at all time, both have failed to punish violent conduct in the weekends big EPL game beamed around the World to millions, and now they are being ridiculed by fans and players around the globe for their absolute incompetence, even with all the tech at hand, thats why people smell a rat and will walk away from the game if its integrity is worthless.

Why would you even write that when you know it simply isn't going to happen.

People aren't going to stop watching football due to bad refereeing decisions if they did the sport would have died decades ago.

People get angry when decisions go against their teams, they blame the referees, sometimes claim there's an agenda or the game itself is corrupt but they'll watch the game next week all the same.

Of course they will still follow the team through their whole life, don't act thick, but when they become disillusioned they stop becoming a fanatic and that's when the club just becomes a fringe part of your life.

VAR always hated Werner, that's why he went back to Germany 😐 That was a good example, when they tried to rule out a goal they were willing to go through the footage until they tried something potentially wrong. Both the referee and VAR saw the hair pull, but somehow it's not relevant as the goal must be given.

Anyone see the Sun front page. Conte apparently has 2 right hands and one left arm. No wonder he gets irate with handshakes. 🤣

The same old story, you think that all you need is just a little bit of wig, then you start the slippery slope with the hair transplant and before you know it you're obsessed with having extra body parts...

It's a new day. We've all had some time to cool off from yesterday. So in the light of the new day, all I can say is: f**k Anthony Taylor, the bald c**t. And f**k the FA, you bunch of corrupt w**kers.

I echo these sentiments but would also add that Mike Dean is also a massive and useless c*nt and that VAR is a tool of the FA, used only when it suits their needs !!
