Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager

Featured Replies

In my opinion (which is worth nothing)

The situation has to change, the manager hasn’t worked out, nor can anyone say there is a direction to the team and by extension the club.

Im sure Potter is a very nice man, elite managers are bastards, he’s not a bastard!

Who cares about the money, that’s the press spinning things, it won’t be £60m to get him gone.

Lets move on, and put this farce behind us.

Of course he's going to have some important saves, but he is nowhere near reliable enough for a top six club. He's been here ages now and he still cant command his 6yd box and his wrists are still as strong as a wet paper bag.

I agree he shouldn't be our starting keeper, but he has bailed us out in a number of poor performaces, the Villa game being a good example. Overall, Kepa or no Kepa, our league form has been abysmal under Potter. 28 points from 21 games after spending half a billion.

You are right. We actually have a sizeable goalkeeping department and I am yet to see any that either look elite now or have the potential.

The ponderous way we faff around at the back means we need good ball playing keepers, but these must also be good shot stoppers and command their area. That's going to be a select few capable of that. I thought it might be Mendy but his feet are poor and he has regressed. This guy remains flappy from any distance. Its actually his set and starting position that is slow which is odd as he is weaker from distance. Bettinelli and Bergstrom I am also unsure of. Hopefully Slolina can buck the trend. I find it frustrating as we have Ben Roberts in the coaching team now and I do rate him.

Mendy has had plenty of shocking moments with the ball at his feet, compared to Kepa who doesn't have that problem, but the rest of the goalkeepers jobs Mendy wins, better at 1-on-1 moments, better at saving long shots, better at commanding 6yd box he's like an extra defender at corners/crosses, Kepa has always worried me with crosses.

That same keeper bailed us out in multiple games, if it wasn't for Kepa finding his form this season Potter's league record would be even more dismal

Which games? Villa yes, United maybe but where else?

Out of interest why do you rate Ben Robert's as a coach?

Sure buddy, like he didnt cost us games against City, Spurs, Fulham and now Everton as well. This guy costs us so many games over the years and continues to do so. Almost cost us the game against Leicetser as well if not for the goal line clearance...

He only performed well against Villa, when people defend this useless guy they only point out his performance vs Villa because there are no other to speak of.

He did have a decent run around that time I won't take that away from him but I find this narrative he was single handedly winning us points wildly OTT.

Take the Palace game for example, the only save I wouldn't have expected even Bettenelli or Turnbull to make was the one from Olise yet he was given MOTM.

My son is a semi professional goalkeeper and has shown me a number of videos of the drills that are put on and some of the general sessions. We watch a lot of this stuff. He is highly respected in the game behind the scenes in this area of coaching.

Below is one example of the type of things that he gets me to watch. Haha

No wonder Kepa’s useless on long range and cross shots, we’d struggle to put enough on target for him to save.

Well it was the one thing I was going to mention about a possible flaw in Ben Roberts' coaching

Rumors of Tuchel going to Real Madrid next season are getting stronger. If there's one last chance to reverse course and snap him up it'll be in the next few months.

Tuchel at Madrid is an absolutely scary prospect, the guy would go from Loftus Cheek and Werner to Modric and Vinicius

Not going to happen - and nor should it. No smoke without fire - and although we don't know the exact reasons - some of the alleged behaviour was disgraceful

This will be an interesting hire. Madrid usually has more success hiring manager like ance, mou or zidane type rather than somebody like Tuchel

One season, one title and palpable discord. That is what Tuchel brings to a club.

None of it changes Potter's poor performance of course, but distraction tactics do sometimes work LOL

There are some double standards going on here. It's quite easily noticeable that some of Potters biggest defenders back him despite Potter making decisions that they would have absolutely murdered Tuchel for. But since it's Potter and many of them actually wanted Tuchel sacked and replaced with him I suppose they try to stick to their guns a bit longer and hope it works out so they don't look so foolish.

This is not happening in a million years, I think people need to give it up. If it took Roman several seasons to rehire Mourinho, it will take Boehly even more rehire Tuchel.
